Great atmosphere. These photos were from Eric Rachmanys acoustic tour he did with Kyle Ahern, Geoff Weers and the band Cydeways. This was my third time going to this place and I look forward to next time. There is a restaurant that is connected to it as well. Nice patio area. The venue is downstairs and there are bathrooms down there as well. I would get to the show early if you go so you can get a good spot. Venue is small but a great spot for intimate shows. Also parking is just on the street. There is The Jupiter Hotel that is on the same property you can also stay at for the show that's pretty convenient.

The giant fans were nice but they only stood person-tall so that breeze was lost 3 people deep. Mounting those above head hight would help flush the heat. That really is my only complaint, the heat...

Downstairs on the corner is still a part of Goodfoot, but where live music and dancing will take place, and it can get busy crowded and wild, in a great way. Food and booze is pretty good, they keep specials fresh, and the longtime staff seem to be happy working there. Upon arriving, an absolutely ridiculous bouncer in a Freddy Krueger costume with a twisty mustache denied me entry to a concert in the JLR/The Rialto that me and my wife paid for months in advance (and drove 3 hours for) saying I appeared intoxicated. I had one beer hours ago at that point and offered to take any sort of sobriety/breathalyzer test I possibly could. He replied that "There is more than one type of intoxication" and the answer would be no tonight. I'm a big guy, it takes me more than a beer to make me tipsy, nevermind it being hours before this interaction. I asked if I could speak to a manager/anyone in charge, he said he was the manager and that I was holding up the line. I asked who I could talk to about getting our money back for the concert tickets and he said there was nothing he could do and I could scan a QR code on their sign for help if I wanted some help and that I could email someone. Of course the QR code didn't work and after finding their site, noone replied to their email, being that it's a Saturday at 730 pm. I attempted to get back into line while my wife attempted to find someone inside for help. Thankfully as I got close to the door and was being questioned by Mr Krueger's sidekick in a Jason mask (I wish I was making this up), a manager or someone resembling a manager came out and told Mr. Krueger that people who paid for the concert needed to be allowed in. Not long before then, I saw the performer come out and tell him the same thing (she confirmed inside the same guy had attempted to deny a few of her friends as well) but apparently they just weren't having it. I'm very happy to say I made it in at the very last minute but not without some massive stress/frustration. I will say the one fault I'll admit to is being hard of hearing, especially in loud environments. When I was asked by the man in the Jason mask who was handling ID checks/pat downs to face the street, I didn't quite hear him and didn't turn as fast as they would have liked. That's my bad, my hearing is genuinely awful. I work near loud machines in an industrial environment, sadly. Fire Mr. Krueger with the twisty mustache. He is a terrible face for both JLR and The Rialto. He is terrible at his job (evidently) and seems to have no want or need to properly do his job. Do better, Mr. Krueger. Power trips are gross and are a terrible look for these businesses, especially with the recent things happening in Portland. These businesses and Portland deserve more. You are not fit for your job.

The burger was very bland and I was disappointed that adding tomato would cost extra. The BLT had more lettuce than I'd prefer. One common issue was the garlic aioli is very strong! It was so overpowering that I couldn't taste the cheese on the burger or the bacon in the BLT. The fries were delicious. I would go back again for the chicken parm sandwich. Another issue was we had to wait quite a while for our food but we didn't know about the event down the road and our server apologized so I would definitely check it out on a less busy night.

They told us that the bartender was quite rude during initial ordering and they finally gave up on ordering this second round after being passed over repeatedly, they were quite upset. Having been a bartender myself for many years I actually defended the bar staff, noting that it was busy and it was likely nothing personal or intentional, just an oversight. My friends kindly disagreed. Our drink-less night continued. Fast forward to last weekend, when I am in there ordering for myself, with a different group of friends. The bartender was so unnecessarily rude to me, with zero provocation (unless saying “May I please order the…” is somehow antagonistic) - I was actually shocked enough to spend my time writing this right now. I would just like to say, it doesn’t matter how great some outdoor seating is, or how wonderful it is to have access to a vegan menu… if staff are treating you like you are nothing but an annoyance and inconvenience, it ruins the taste of everything. Portland has a million wonderful local options for places to eat, drink and socialize, I don’t consider it a competitive edge having staff that are still embracing the over-played arrogant bartender persona. Super disappointed to have to find somewhere else for the group to go.

We were there to see Powerwolf, a heavy metal band who killed it! The show was amazing and the very clever stage visual effects and backdrops from the band combined with the lighting effects, were incredible and well received by the audience! The stage has plenty of room for the band to set up and do their thing! We did have to stand for the concert, but there was plenty of seating on the mezzanine also. Everyone was respectful of space and security was present to keep the peace if necessary! We took video and photos of the band that was on tour from Germany, and rocked the house! There was fan participation in some of the songs and everyone had a great time. The venue has been there for at least 50 years or more and the photos on the wall told the story of classic rock performers from the past! I love that since I was there for a Make-a-Wish event! The line outside was long to get in, but the place filled up quickly and after the concert, the audience left peacefully. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a smaller venue but a great concert. It looks like Roseland is a popular venue! Two thumbs up!

The review is probably more like 3.5 stars. The good - they book some of the best comedy acts in Portland, and I love that it's an intimate venue with no real bad seats. I much prefer having a bigger act perform multiple sets there than to have one night at a large auditorium. Ticket prices are usually fair given the acts and venue size. The two item minimum isn't my favorite, but it's a common enough practice and clearly how they make money. Much else is downright inedible. Do not plan to eat here. I don't love how the willcall tickets and then loitering in a waiting room for a while before being seated for a show cumulatively mean that you ideally want to get there 45 min or more early for a show, which makes it all the harder to get dinner somewhere edible before a show or for me to make it to any early show after work.

The song list is huge and the system was easy to navigate so everyone could add songs to the queue. Dont forget to bring your reading glasses! I came here mainly to check out some of their interesting food items and grab a quick drink or two. Gotta say I was blown away by how amazing everything tasted here. Service was really great, helpful, and lightning quick. Food has gotta be hands down some of the best I've ever had. The twists on traditional dishes were all executed to PERFECTION. Oysters were a must and I can say I've never had oysters served that way but it was incredible. Wagyu tartare was so flavorful and rich that I was scraping the plate at the end for more. And finally the panna cotta was the perfect ending adding a delicious light strawberry finish that wasn't too sweet but so good. Would HIGHLY recommend all 3 as they're all 10/10 in my experience. Definitely make your way over here because the drinks are also amazing and they have other options that aren't whiskey/scotch as well. Next time I'm in town I'm definitely coming here again!!

A small menu of impeccably prepared food, a cocktail menu split into ftuity and spirit-y varieties, and a literal manila folder full of whisky options. A lucky find was the appearance of a Belgian single malt whisky from a favorite brewery/distillery on their featured flights. Had it not been there, we may never have made it deep enough into the detailed whisky listing to have found it. We visited with another couple who, honestly, wanted us along so that they could try more things on the food menu. Everything was wonderful (mussels, papardelle, heirloom tomatoes (garnished with more tomatoes), beef tartare, pickle spiced fries). We showed up but realized we needed reservations. Upon arriving we were thankfully accommodated at the chefs table. BEST seat in the house! We had the Fried Brie, Oysters, Brussel Sprouts, Waygu Tartare, and the Pappardelle. First off the Oysters, BEST I’ve ever had!! The Fried Brie was heavenly, while the Waygu Tartare was a tasty and beautiful presentation. One of my favorite appetizers is always Brussels sprouts and they happened to be magnificent. By the time we got to the Pappardelle we were stuffed, as their portions are large in size, we took it to go and ate it the next day. It was super tasty as well! Not only did it look like a great place to chill for drinks out by the patio with the firepit but also for their grill Cheeses that they are most known for.
