We were very surprised at the size of the site and the large variety of animals housed here. The aquarium is spread out over a few buildings, each housing a themed exhibition from rock pools to rainforests and coral reefs. Each exhibit includes detailed information signs and screens providing more information about the animals and marine life houses here. They also host a variety of free talks and feeding sessions throughout the day and we found these to be very informative. Our highlight was visiting the seals in their open-air pool with underwater viewing area. In addition to the aquarium exhibits, there are also a variety of play areas and other attractions which would certainly keep younger visitors entertained (and could easily extend the visit from a few hours to a day out). There is also a gift shop and cafe at the exit. The site is fairly flat and there are tarmac paths throughout which would make it very accessible for prams, buggies and wheelchairs. There are also lots of signs and maps dotted around the site (as well as the free map they give you when you enter) so you can easily find the exhibits you are looking for. You are also able to pop out and return later in the day if needed. The staff here were all very friendly and helpful and also incredibly knowledgeable. They were a credit to Sea Life and made us feel very welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Sea Life Weymouth and would happily return in future.

And I thought the feeding talks were brilliant, funny and informative. The "touch pools" were really fun to walk around and had a cool tide feature sadly you can not touch anything but that is due to a change in law not their fault. The only thing I feel let it down and the reason I did not give it five stars is I feel that the Humboldt penguin enclosure is too small for the number that they have and the seal pool I feel could be larger for the 3 of them. The tomato salad was not good. It would’ve been delicious if higher quality tomatoes were used, however these tomatoes were clearly the cheap unripened type, firm and tasteless. I believe that one of the kitchen staff did not turn up on the night we visited, so they were short staffed, with just one young lad serving the whole restaurant and Chef Eric helping at times. We were not asked if we would like any drinks on our arrival and after waiting at our tables for over ten minutes, we politely asked the waiter if we could be served some drinks who then took our orders, however another ten minutes went by and none of us had received our drinks. By now our starters had arrived, and the food was nice, and perfectly pleasant, but nothing more than that sadly. I had ordered six snails as a starter and unfortunately two of the snail shells were completely empty. For the price paid, this really should have been spotted by the chef. Our drinks finally arrived after everybody had finished their starters. The main meals we ordered were decent and the crab I ordered was cooked very well. However we had to ask the overworked and clearly inexperienced waiter if we could order another drink two more times, and still nothing had arrived. By now after being in the restaurant for over 90 minutes we just gave up. Two hours after originally arriving, Chef Eric came over to our table and then chatted to us about some of the desserts and wines on offer, and for the first time in the evening, it actually felt like we were valued or made welcome, and considering our table of six spent nearly £350, I dont think this is good enough personally, not that it should matter how much you have spent. I think the food here is good, and I appreciate that every business has its bad days, but the whole experience was a bit of an anti climax, it felt unprofessional, the front of house was poorly run and the general ambience of the restaurant suffered because of this. I also overheard Chef Eric get into a dispute outside with a group of customers when he asked them their opinions on their experience, and they were not particularly satisfied either. If you pay higher end prices in a restaurant you expect quality food, drink, service and atmosphere. Unfortunately, the only thing that resembled any quality that night was the food. I would try here again to see if it was just a bad night for them, but I have eaten at many other similar priced restaurants over the years and the vast majority have been better.

Booked a table for two on a Thursday evening with no issues via their online contact form. Ample parking as the public car park next to The Gurkha is free after 6pm. Our kids loved it and want to go back! Mostly under cover so a good option if the weather is dodgy. Exhibits were spectacular and lots to do to keep kids entertained. Pricing was very reasonable. It is family run and the manager chatted with us about their business and took us behind the exhibits to show us how everything was put together. Really nice feel about the place. Five stars. Just realised that I popped this review in the wrong place! On the esplanade is an example sculpture. The main attraction is just down the road slightly and has many hundred of equally positive reviews!
