Located on the edge of Baños, Papacho's hostel is surrounded by panoramic senderos; I highly recommend the sendero Sauces, which can be started by crossing the bridge over the river just a few blocks away. There is a local market that happens 3 times a week so you have access to the freshest, most economical produce around. The hostel is close enough to the city center that all of the tourist attractions, restaurants, and parks in Baños are just a short walk away; Baños really is a hidden gem! Everything in the hostel is modern and well-maintained, and the rooms and beds are really comfortable, the staff work hard to keep the place clean at all times. The common areas are well-equipped for many different activities and there is a lot of space. It is hard to believe how well-equipped the kitchen is! From the terrace of the hostel, you have a wonderful view of the city and the surrounding mountains! Robert, the owner, is amazing host and is helpful in every way; there are a wide variety of high-adventure activities availableinand around Baños and Robert has personal recommendations for companies and guides to use. The dorm room is spacious, the beds are amazing and I loved the duvets. The outside and upstairs common areas are really nicely done. Hammocks and lots of room to sit. The atmosphere is amazingly calm and the street is super safe. Plus you can hike up the god stairs right outside the hostel. It is located perfectly. You walk down one street which takes like 2 minutes and then you're in the center. Which is nice cause at night when you don't want the trouble anymore, you will have calmness and just singing birds. Everything gets cleaned everyday and there is a hot working shower. Nice big bathrooms too. The breakfast is amazing and a loooot, so you will definitely be stuffed. Had the coolest rooftop with great included breakfast. The location is central- however, don’t stay here if you want relaxation and a full 8 hours of sleep. Our group included an 8-year-old and parents in their 90s, so finding accommodations that could suit a wide range of needs was important — and this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. Everything in town was a close walk of only a few minutes and was in a great location for anything you may want to do. Karl, the other owner was a life-saver and was able to arrange a last minute ride for us to Quito when our Uber driver bailed on us. They have a laundry which the wife will do for you for about $5 USD for an average size load and can increase based on your load size. We rented bikes with them for about $10 USD per person so we can see some waterfalls and that was really nice. The husband can guide you through the waterfalls for an extra fee or if you want to go on your own he will show you what route to take. This hotel is not located right on the busy area but the busy area is about a 5 minute walk. The room was really nice and a good size.
