Merion is the hardest golf course I've ever played. The caddies are great along with all the other service workers. Top notch club. If you are going to play this course, lower your expectations for your score and have a good time. It is really hard to shoot a good score and play this course in four hours. I never heard of the Philadelphia Cricket Club until I met Kate + Lou. They told me their venue was insanely gorgeous, but my goodness I wasn't expecting all of this photogenic awesomeness! I was so incredibly impressed when I walked in for the first time -- natural sunlight pours in the ballroom bouncing light into every corner of the room. The room is architecturally beautiful and aesthetically beautiful...not a shred of hideous carpeting, bad wall coloring or outdated light fixtures in sight. The venue does most of the talking so if you were someone going lighter on details you can totally get away with it and still make your event look completely fancy. The venue has ample photo op locations both indoors and out & we especially loved the yellow siding as it added a bright pop of color to the family portraits. This is definitely one of those venues that would photograph amazingly inside if you needed to do pictures inside due to weather! The cocktail hour was so much fun as the guests got to hang outside and enjoy the beautiful weather we had that day. We were also fans of ballroom feeling like a multi-room event without walls completely closing off the spaces. The DJ can also be set up on the balcony in the ballroom which I thought was also really unique. During the first dance there was nothing but friends & family all around with the DJ's equipment completely out of the sight of our cameras. Overall, a very interesting and unique layout...we hope to come back soon!!

The Philadelphia Cricket Club was an excellent venue for my wedding day from start to finish! They were extremely accommodating when we had to move our wedding from April 2020 to August 2020 due to COVID. I worked with Taylor for the majority of the wedding planning and she is phenomenal! I was emailing her weekly and daily towards the end of wedding planning and she was endlessly patient and informative. She helped us figure out Plan B's, C's, even D's (just in case), she kept us updated on any available dates, Philadelphia guidelines during COVID, and just in general made the wedding planning process during a pandemic extremely smooth. We ended up having a 50-person outdoor event and Taylor made sure everything was still beautiful, organized and seamless for our guests. We had hoped to use the ballroom, but it ended up being even more beautiful and unique on the back patio. We even had some rain and Taylor and the PCC staff acted quickly, making sure the sides of the tent were closed (but still partially open due to COVID) so that no one got wet and there were minimal puddles. It was little touches that you don’t think about going into your wedding day but Taylor was ready for all scenarios. I didn’t have a wedding planner but Taylor filled in the gaps that day, making sure everything was set up and kept the schedule of events flowing nicely throughout the evening. The Philly Cricket Club exceeded my expectations, working with Taylor was awesome, the venue itself was beautiful and classic, the pictures came out amazing and our guests had a great time! On top of everything else, the food was delicious! Chef Ben’s fried chicken was a crowd favorite. I can’t say enough good things about PCC and Taylor – we felt so lucky to be working with such a helpful venue for our wedding during this stressful time! Thank you!!

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in November 2019. We could not have been happier with our day! We worked with Amy who was so helpful, professional, and made sure our day was exactly what we wanted. She was so easy to work with leading up to the event and on the day of our wedding. Everything we discussed and requested prior to our day came to life and was set-up and ready to go when we arrived for our reception. The grounds, cocktail room, and ballroom are absolutely beautiful. There is an area to have part of your cocktail hour outside too, however it was really cold the day of our wedding so we were all inside and fit great. There is so much character in the building and inside which gave us so many great areas to have our photos taken. The ballroom itself is gorgeous and has big windows, a balcony, high ceilings, and an area for the band/DJ to play that does not take away space on the dance floor. We fell in love with the room. It is so different than so many other venues that make you feel like you're just in a hall. The food was delicious (we served the steak and chicken breast) and we heard great feedback from our guests on their appetizers and meals as well. The bartenders and staff were very friendly and pleasant. The bartenders kept the bar line moving too. The price here is so much more reasonable than other places we looked at and what is included for the price is absolutely worth it. We had the best day of our lives and could not have imagined having our wedding reception anywhere else!

I don't play golf but go often for dinners and holidays with friends who belong there. So i can't comment on the golf. However, the food has been really good the last year or so. I don't know if it is a newer chef or what, but it's been great! The views from the ballroom are of the golf course. There are several private rooms for different size groups. The people who work there all seem to be happy to be there and seem to enjoy working there.
In the summer we had dinner on the veranda by the 18th green and it was a great spot. They had a varied menu. Burgers, salmon platter, salads, pasta, etc. And they accommodated a vegan without an issue.

First time playing here and it did not disappoint. Well maintained and just an overall beautiful course. This course is also perfect for the average player to seasoned player. If your a beginner, I would advise to go elsewhere. The fee was $112 for a round in May which I would say is a good price. But you get what you pay for. If you want a course thats 60$ on a Sunday than your just not gonna like what your playing on. The fairways, the bunkers were all clear of debris. Their is hardly any tree cover so you will not get lost in the woods. The only chance you have of losing your balls is on some water holes...but on hole 17 you wont mind it all as it as picturesque as it gets. The only thing I would point out for them to work on will be the bag drop area. They need a driving range and not just a net to hit into. Otherwise they do have a practice green and short game green to work on. Absolutely would recommend this course and I would absolutely come back again!

Wonderful layout, lush fairways, the nicest bunkers I have played in years!! A very well maintained and challenging course with friendly staff. Pace of play was good and through 18 we were only held up for a short while on 3 holes waiting to tee off before the group ahead of us cleared the green. You do have a short 3-4 minute ride from where you pay and pick up your carts to the first hole so just take that into account when trying to be on time for your tee time. Once on the course there is no clubhouse/restaurant, but portable toilets and a solid food truck on the 10th hole and a well stocked drink cart that we saw drive by us 3 times during the full 18.

UPDATE: I heard from Vince, Director of Golf at the course, and he was awesome. He listened to our experience, and validated the frustration, and cared about it, and said he would work to adjust the approach of his rangers that led to this experience. We'll be back! Chalk it up to an overzealous ranger that did his math wrong, and was pretty relentless in pace of play, albeit somewhat misguidedly. Everyone has bad days, and I hope those guys have better ones! And it sounds like the tactics will change there moving forward. This to me is almost better than not having a problem to begin with... I have more respect and admiration for the course and its managers than I did before yesterday. Too many folks are incapable of reflection and process improvement these days! No ones perfect, but accepting our current state will make us worse!
ORIGINAL POST: Gorgeous course, has been one of my favorites for a long time. Unfortunately two staff really negatively impacted our experience… one of the rangers got it in his head that we were playing too slowly, maybe because we were in front with no one ahead and several parties behind us… even though we were on pace all day for under a 4.5 hour round on this 6800 yard course (from the blues). He bugged us 12 out of 18 holes, lurking, and often making condescending and passive aggressive comments about skill level and that we “didn’t pay for 5 hours of golf.” No other party ever had to wait for us… we saw the group behind us on the tee or fairway when we were finishing up on the green only a couple of times and only on the longest holes (600+ yards!), and those parties didn’t have to wait. We finished in just under 4.5 hours despite two stops from the concession cart (both of which times we spent more money), and having to stop to talk to this guy several times. He slowed us down and we still played faster than average players for this huge course. The other ranger was great, as was the guy who cleaned the clubs at the end. The manager at the end refused to receive the negative feedback, which was even more disappointing, and demonstrated he would do nothing about this very poor customer service experience. I understand the role of these rangers, but this guy wasting everyone’s time on some kind of power trip is a warped version of his job. $90 per person for an afternoon round while being borderline harassed is just not worth it, not when there are so many good courses in the region.

Challenging holes with city view. Always enjoy playing this course even in 20+ mph wind. We had sun, rain, hail, and gusts up to 50 mph at times. Really crazy day! The 17th island green was really fun in the wind. Almost had to aim towards the river for the wind to carry it back to the green. There’s no starter coordinating Tee times, so if you’re a stickler for punctuality and organization then this might not be the right course for you.

This golf course is very small and nestled on the top hill of Manayunk. It has mostly par threes and is kept in good shape go in the morning or late in the evening to avoid lines and you don’t have to worry about paying too much this golf course is not very expensive. After more than 15 years away from Walnut Lane Golf Club, I was pleasantly surprised by the improvements. I had attempted to play late last year but decided against waiting due to frost. Finally getting back out on the course, I noticed several positive changes.
While the parking lot remains the same, the pro shop building is completely new. The addition of a small but inviting restaurant and bar adds to the experience, and the pro shop offers a solid selection of gear. There are also dedicated spaces for training facilities or meetings, which is a nice touch. The golf carts are well maintained, making for a smooth ride around the course.
As for the course itself, the improvements are noticeable. The fairways are in good shape, and the small greens provide a fun yet challenging test. There were a few patches under repair, but overall, Walnut Lane remains a solid public course. I’m looking forward to returning for another round soon.

Good course awful experience. Me and my friends have played the course many times and have had a good time. But a week ago I called and booked a tee time on the phone for youth on course at 11, because the guy on the phone said that’s the earliest you could book for youth on course. Me and my friends get to the course and they made us pay the full green fees because they changed the youth on course hours, without a single notice. Then we asked if we could get a cart and they said there were no carts today, then halfway through the round we saw people on carts so we went to the pro shop and asked for one. Very disappointed from beginning to end. Employees were absolutely clueless. My friends and I went for an hour and a half of simulator time and paid 75$ for a Monday night. Immediately the simulator was very innacurate casuing all of our drives the be a hook even when we aimed all the way to the right side of the screen and tried to slice. Told employees they tried to fix it recalibrated it and nothing changed. Tried to fix it ourselves and couldnt figure it out, told the new employee that I wanted to talk to someone considering it was not working and she told us well your almost at 6 oclock when our reservation was until 6:30. Called and they told us we would not be given a refund for at least a fraction of the price because we stayed the length of the appointment and tried to play with the innacuracies. I have been a member for going on 2 years now. I have played around 100 rounds here already and am not in the least bit sick of this fun and quirky track. There is a lot of variance in the holes, with fun elevation changes and challenging, fast Donald Ross greens. Management has been making wonderful updates to the course to keep it in tip top shape. I book myself into random groups quite often and the fellow members are always very down to earth and fun people. There are plenty of talented golfers here too if you’re looking for a friendly match. You will not find a better private club at this value anywhere in the area.

We could not be happier with the experience we had at Manufacturer’s Golf and Country Club. Beyond it being an absolutely gorgeous wedding venue, their team is wonderful and made our wedding day perfect. I had the privilege of recently playing at Manufacturers Golf & Country Club and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. I didn’t know anyone going into my tee time, but the group I played with couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming—they really made the round that much more enjoyable! I was in love with Ramblewood the first time I saw the picture of the Oaks ceremony site online. In person it was even more beautiful and the staff were all so friendly. I worked with both Gabrielle and Alison while Gabrielle was on maternity leave and both were fabulous and extremely helpful. They always answered all of my many questions in a timely fashion. I honestly could not imagine my wedding anywhere else. I had my ceremony at The Oaks and reception in the ballroom. The venue is gorgeous and the team was nothing short of amazing. Katie the wedding coordinator was the VIP she grabbed food for me while I was taking pictures for cocktail hour, made sure we were able to eat, held my veil and helped me bustle my dress. I am so thankful for her. Alison and Gabrielle were so helpful in answering all my questions and communicating via email, and Alison did a great job with my decor! Ramblewood is an absolutely beautiful and stunning place to have your wedding at. When arriving I was worried to fall in love with the venue because of the price range but thankfully they were able to work with with us on our budget and make a dream wedding happen. The team I worked with was outstanding, they answered every question and helped me stay on track with planning. They are professional and passionate with their work. The food was delicious, I still dream of the mashed potatoes and taco bar we had. On the day of our wedding we were assigned Katie to help us with all our needs and I cannot talk highly enough of her. I never had to go up to the bar, she kept a drink in my hand and made sure I also had plenty of water and food. She provided assistance with photographs and walked me through the whole day so I had zero stress. Even when my sister fell ill and had to leave before the wedding and kept me updated on her care and reassured me she was fine when I needed. Played on 7/22 - Course is in great condition besides some tee boxes having to be maintained. They do have a cart girl. Course is very short and this caused pace of play to be slow especially on the back nine with three straight par 3s. All holes are fairly close together so seemed like everyone was on top of each other and could get hit easily by the group on the next fairway. Overall for the price it was a great course.

I attended a work function event and I was very impressed with the accommodations for this event The private room was large and spacious with very comfortable seating for everyone. The food that was served prior to the event was wonderful. Everything was made fresh and delicious with an abundant and wonderful variety of delicious breakfast items to choose from. Wow. Just wow is the review. I had not been to Llanerch Country Club in a while and I was blown away by how nice it is. They recently built an outdoor pavilion which is just amazing in and of itself. I could have just sat there the whole time and would have been in a happy zone. The golf course is first class and is as beautiful to look at as it probably is to play on. I had a crab cake for dinner which would put anything in Maryland to shame. The staff there were nothing less than amazing too. They made me feel like I was a VIP and I'm anything but. Llanerch may very well be a best kept secret, but this place earns a 5 star A1 rating for all the key factors. I really cannot think of any way this place could be better. I highly recommend you go to Llanerch Country Club for any of your Golf Outings or Banquet events. Worth the money and you won't be sorry.

I had my wedding here on 11/9/24 and it was absolutely magical. Thankfully it wasn't TOO cold and we were able to have the ceremony outside in the courtyard however had it needed to be indoors the indoor location was stunning as well!
This venue is just so beautiful with the stone building, black iron front gate and the hand painted wood beam ceiling it was everything I dreamed of and it needed very little extra decor which made my life easier! We had about 140 guests but there was plenty of room for more as you have access to multiple areas at the venue. I also love that when you book you are the only event that day so we had the whole place starting at 8am!
The bridal suite is amazing with lots of mirrors and lighting. They made sure we had lots of drinks and the food and alcohol packages were really great (we had a small party so we just got a mimosa package). The room for the guys to get ready in was also really nice and worked perfect for them.
The venue also let us drop off a lot of stuff the day before when we came for rehearsal which was super helpful and made the next day less stressful. The all inclusive pricing makes things super easy and transparent but don't forget to take gratuity into account for the final cost! All of the workers that day were wonderful and really helped make our day smooth and special.
One thing to note, The venue does give you the option to have the DJ up in this lofted area in the ballroom which was great space wise but beware we had a really really hard time hearing the DJ announcements and a lot of stuff was missed by us and our guests due to this.
The one thing I really wish I had done differently was hire my own coordinator even if just for the day of. I am super type A and very organized and thought I'd be able to handle it but boy was I wrong and wish I had done myself the favor of hiring someone!

My husband and I got married at HVCC on June 1st 2024 and had the BEST most perfect day there and that is all thanks to Allison and her team at HVCC. Book HVCC for your wedding now!! From the very beginning communication and planning with Allison has been a breeze. She answered all of my questions (trust me I had many) quickly and throughly. Everything is included, making it so easy and pricing was transparent (one price for person including tip, tax, open bar, bridal attendant and day of coordinator, and linens). We also were able to add on additional passed apps, and brunch for the girls and guys and get ready on site starting as early as 7 am. The chef was so accommodating for allergy restrictions and menu changes (my husband is gluten free and they said because they are a country club they already make many things gluten free to cater to their members so that wasn't even an issue). We also were able to trade out the included ice cream in the dessert package for our own ice cream from the University of Delaware creamery making our day that much more personal. Our bridal attendant was AMAZING. She was with us from 8 am until the end of the night. We had everything we needed, as did our parents. Our guests also all raved about the food. At golden hour the club also gave us a golf cart and a driver and took us on a ride through the course. It was so much fun and such a nice moment for my husband and I to have together to get away for a minute. Now, for the space. you get so much space at HVCC and it is all stunning. HVCC closed the gates of the courtyard during our ceremony making it feel so private and intimate for us and our guests. 5 pm ceremony on June 1st and the courtyard was also completely shaded again ensuring guest comfort. Cocktail hour on the terrace overlooking the course at golden hour was stunning. The reception room with the high pitched, hand painted beam ceiling and gold chandeliers, fire place, hardwood floors and big windows was exactly the vibe my husband and I wanted. The garden room also has large windows with so much natural light. If it rains you can definitely still get beautiful photos inside here. I had not heard of HVCC prior to wedding planning and truly felt like it was a hidden gem. Our day was absolutely perfect and we cannot recommend HVCC enough! thank you thank you!

Avengers Unite! I'm friends with a member who loves MARVEL and we got the privilege to play a 27 hole marvel themed match. In true avengers fashion after 27 holes we were all square. One of the fun elements of the match is we all played with our own avenger on a golf ball. HVCC is a wonderful course and I got lucky a few times when I HULK smashed an iron shot through a deep bunker and ended up on the lip of the green. I'd like to thank HVCC for the wonderful facilities I hope to be back one day.

SAVE THIS GOLF COURSE!!! Scheduled to have houses built here?!? We’re losing one of the best designed courses in the region? Why?!?
This diamond is nestled at the edges of the not-so-rough suburbs of Cheltenham and Elkins Park and has only recently become all scuffed-up due to previous sub-par ownership and its public status. But make no mistake, this course has superior design and facility capabilities. New management has finally moved the player’s lounge to take advantage of the mansion building, which can easily be arranged for events of various sizes. Should it be returned to it’s previous excellent condition, it could easily trump similar older course such as Yardley Country Club even though Melrose is public.
Why? Golf course architecture. Historic designers who were known for other courses you might have heard of, like Augusta National and the nearby Merion. Yeah. Those guys. Maybe it’s old, and maybe it’s short, maybe a couple holes were changed a little. But still, this golf course is hard, fun, and you will find something new every time you play it. Every whole invites you to take out driver off the tee when you should be hitting irons. The challenge lies not in getting around the course, because that’s doable for most even with tight tree-lined fairways, but finding a flat landing spot with a clear view of the green and scoring consistently on this course…that can be hard. To succeed, you will need to shape the ball in every direction and use every club. I find something new each time I play it and I’ve played it a million times. When I think I have found an advantage over the course, the designers have already thought of it and offered a defense 100 years ago…that is forward thinking. Two of the par 3’s (8 and 17) are the hardest I’ve ever played. I consider 5 or less on either to be a good score (these are par 3’s).
Even with new ownership, this course is a shadow of what it once was and what it could potentially be, but is coming back! The setup of the course could be much harder, and should be. I suggest playing from the back of the furthest tee on every hole for the full experience.
It has the potential to be the hardest course around. Let it be what it was meant to be: a mini-Marion/Augusta. Old as heck, hard as heck, and not apologizing for it.
Were you looking forward to playing it? Sorry! It is scheduled to have houses built on it. When? Next year. Maybe the year after. It’s open right now and getting better. Here’s your chance to experience some of the brilliance of this diamond-in-the-rough. Historic designers. Hard. Public. Better hurry.

I had high hopes for Melrose Park Country Club. Nestled in a prime location right next to the city, the course boasts an incredible layout that has the potential to be one of the best 18-hole courses around. Additionally, the clubhouse itself has great bones and could be a magnificent venue for a variety of activities. It's clear that with the right care and investment, this space could become a standout feature of the club. Unfortunately, the neglect of both the course and the clubhouse is evident, making it a significant waste of potential.
The lack of management has left Melrose Park in disrepair. The greens are in terrible shape and essentially unplayable, which is a huge letdown considering the high fees they charge. It's so disappointing because this course has everything needed to be my home course if it were better maintained. Instead, I joined Abington, a short 9-hole course, which doesn’t come close to Melrose Park’s design and setting but at least has well-maintained greens and a committed staff.
Ownership seems completely hands-off, and it feels like everyone working there is just going through the motions, as if they're waiting for the club to close. This apathetic approach extends to the clubhouse, which could otherwise serve as a fantastic venue for events and gatherings, adding even more appeal to an already ideal setting. However, nothing seems to be done with the space or the course’s potential.
Melrose Park Country Club has no direct competitors nearby, highlighting its unique position and the significant opportunity it holds. In the right hands, it could be a true gem both for golf enthusiasts and as a community hub. Until then, the lack of upkeep, high fees, and neglected facilities make it a regrettable choice for anyone seeking a quality golf experience.

This course is absolutely fantastic. Start to finish. I’ve lived in Cheltanham for 4+ years now and just now played for the first time. It’s a hidden gem!! Tight, lots of terrain to mix it up and the greens run very well. If you don’t like this course it’s probably because you spray the ball. As a single digit handicap that loves golf, $41 to walk on Sunday during prime time… what else could you ask for. Very comparable if not better than both LuLu and Northhills easily.

Awful, awful experience. I cannot believe they're charging $60 for this course. Greens were not even puttable, weeds EVERYWHERE. Pace of play was Horrible (5 1/2 hour round.) Tee boxes garbage, Weeds in bunker, no fairways. Do not ever waste your money in this place. Trees down on course and debris everywhere. It should be $30 to play... We went in after 2nd hole and asked for a refund so we could leave and told no. So I took enough pictures to make sure you do not waste your time if you are thinking about going there. Do not go!

Really enjoy this course and was happy to play again when they reopened for the year. The fairways were ok...but that was it. The tee boxes were in really rough shape. The green were worse. No reason there should be wedge divots on the greens. They weren't fresh either. I went on the 6th day they were open for the 2023 season. If you're closed all winter there's no reason why the course shouldn't be in tip-top shape before you open. Especially with the extremely mild winter we've had. EDIT: Played today 4/21. May have gotten worse. If you landed your approach on the green it ran about 20ft off. And the teeboxes were rough. Also it's a Friday in late April. It's 80 degrees. Full teesheet. No beverage cart. No bar. No food.

Played 8/4/2024 - Course was in terrible shape. Greens were covered with weeds and just completely missing patches of grass. Tee boxes were all dirt with no clean place to tee up on. The golf course is slowing getting some love and the greens keepers are hard at work. It’s playing pretty well and a lot of the nasty undergrowth has seen some weed whacking. It’s a fun exec 9 with some challenging holes. I especially like hole 4 which is a short par 4 but you have to lay up down a hill and then chip up to the green. Also hole 8 which is a blind 200 yards up a hill with a hybrid or wood. You won’t hit a driver at all here and only need a wood on 8/9.
That said we turned up today and there were 7 other people teeing off at the same time. They had an extremely slow pace of play and we were able to play through but it was a bit aggravating. A little bit of speed of play management by the marshall would go a long way.

I’ve golfed here a few times over the past year. The course is pretty good for the price, and they are putting work into it with the 3rd hole being redone. Definitely a good place to play a quick 9 on a Sunday before football.
Anthony the greenskeeper/golf attendant was the absolute man though and is the reason for the 5 star. He was super helpful and went above and beyond to make the morning go smooth. He probably has a lot between course maintenance and keeping the pace of play going, so it was super impressive how positive and helpful he was to not only my group, but every golfer that showed up. I hope the club gives him recognition as he’s definitely making a positive impact on everyone that comes to play a round.

I had my bridal shower at 1912 Club last May and it was so beautiful! This was during COVID when restrictions where in place so they were willing to have a backup plan if the capacity size had to change (thankfully it didn't!!) I was compelled to write a review for the 1912 club to share my great experience. I have attended the club on two separate occasions. I played in a golf outing and I was impressed. The course was challenging and in great shape. I played this course years ago before it became the 1912 Club and it was night and day as far as drastic change goes.
