There is is a valleyball court, a covered pavilion, and some sculptures. I explored a little and found a secluded pond area surrounded by trees, running water, and ducks. This is a great spot if you want to get out and touch some grass in the shadow of the great skyscrapers of downtown.

We ended up going to park at Bagby, then walking 20 min to get to the entry. But once we got there it was cool, lots of food and drinks. They were handing out energy drinks like crazy lol. There were misting stations, inflatable are throwing games balloon animals face painting, concerts, fireworks, good deal. I just felt some of the food vendors were like way too expensive. Plus 4 dollar water. Let that sink in. We found a station that had fesh water free on the way out, albeit I had to buy a 10 buck souvenir cup to pour the water in. But we had fun 😁

I've been to Brenner's in San Antonio on the Riverwalk and loved it, so I had to try the location here in Houston. I was not disappointed; this food was so good and it was a great experience overall. We ordered a variety of items and all were fantastic, but I highly recommend the Texas Kisses appetizer. It might be one of the best apps I've ever had at a restaurant. Seriously if you love bacon and seafood it's a must-have. I ordered the Crab Legs and my dad ordered a filet. Both were absolutely fantastic. I also ordered a chocolate Souffle and it was amazing! They have trails for walking and biking. Several large grassy areas to hang out. An awesome dog park. Great people watching. The Waugh Drive Bridge has a cool bat colony that I have watched several times. It's super fun to see them drop from under the bridge and fly out into the evening sky. A little bit of sensory overwhelm, but it's definitely worth watching at least once. I do wish there were a few more restrooms throughout. But I made it work. Parking can be a challenge as well, but I have been lucky every time I have gone.

I was a little concerned for my safety. It said the light show started 40 minutes prior to sunrise. That time came and went and nothing happened. But since I was up I decided to stay for the sunrise. Eventually a few other people showed up. Right as the sun started to rise a guy started to mow the lawn right next to us, I mean literally inches away! That took the wind out of my sails. The sunset was still pretty, although it looked better in my rearview mirror as I drove away. I am willing to give the sunset option a try because the reviews were current for that. You have to park in an on-campus parking lot which is about $6. It's about three or four blocks away from there. The concept is very interesting just disappointing that the show didn't happen. When I got home, I reviewed the website meticulously to be sure I hadn't missed any pertinent information about the sunrise show not happening on certain days or at all for that matter. I came here to hear JB sing and enjoy tostada night. A few whiskey and sodas outside in midtown are not a bad way to spend the evening. The upstairs area is very neat. It was closed on a Tuesday, which makes sense if it's not busy enough to pull double staff and floors. If you're in the area or reasonably close by, The Dogwood is a must visit. I keep seeing these people with less than 5 reviews claiming they were profiled, I haven't seen anything like that. We have black and hispanics in our party regularly and never caught even a whiff of attitude. I'm guessing some folks acted foolishly, got called out and don't like it.

We caught the early show and watched Halloweentown. Surprisingly we were all adults watching a kids movie. Super cute film and the weather was perfect! Not hot or cold.
