Making inappropriate and hurtful comments about student's appearances and crude jokes. Incredibly sexist and tbh quite scary, such as things along the lines of "even Jeffrey Dahmer wouldn't take her." After we had spoken to management about this behaviour and management spoke to the bouncers, one of them accosted us and asked which one of us had "told on him." Proceeded to complain about us and mock us loudly for the entire night. Would not hire out this place again. Ridiculous prices however, especially considering the fact you’re not able to keep any of the drinks to take home, which gives you essentially 5 hours to finish over half a dozen full bottles, at least in our case. We were promised a bottle show which never happened, a music choice for drinks to be brought out to (which never happened). And we essentially had to go up to the bar to request more drinks meaning I or my group barely got any perks for the extra money. All in all, I recommend going for a fun night, but I wouldn’t book a table or private booth as half the stuff promised isn’t provided. In the days of multiplex & a digital life, Tyneside is one of the few remaining places that still truly feel like a real cinema. They have a welcoming foyer and the ground floor screen has comfortable original style cinema seats, and still has an actual ‘curtains up’. The building has some beautiful original interior, while being upgraded on upper floors to accommodate extra screens. The stairs are a trek, but thankfully there is a lift!! The cinema shows a variety of films from mainstream to indie, and shows many films you wouldn’t see at big chain places. Tickets are a little more than some places, but they offer discounts which are easily applied (I use a Cea card) and if you need to change your plans, I’ve found this cinema much more accommodating to this than many others. We had full use of the Frangipani and upstairs snug/bar area - and it was the most amazing venue. We couldn't have asked for a better coordinator than Maddy. She kept us right and thought of every detail to help us plan the perfect day. She was quick to respond to emails, and during meetings was super friendly and organised - we felt in super safe hands. On the day our wedding manager Matthew did a fantastic job of running the day, he kept us on track without ever making us feel rushed. The team decorated the venue exactly how we'd imagined, and there was not a single hitch during the entire day. Transitions were seamless as we were upstairs in the snug/bar while the downstairs was turned around from ceremony to reception. Tables were left cluttered with empty glasses for long periods, which took away from the otherwise great atmosphere. Overall grumpiness, ignoring customers and OPENLY complaining that there is a queue while facing said queue is already quite bad, but the person downstairs at the child clothing/click and collect till topped it off for me. It was my first (and last) time ordering click and collect and I was a bit lost. When I have been (rudely) told by someone who seemed to be the supervisor that I need to go downstairs I did not know what to expect. This person who's pronouns I don't want to guess called out for people waiting for click and collect so I quickly put my hand up and approached the desk, trying to show this person my order number and just get a little help, as I had no idea how this click and collect works! (In other shops you show the code to staff and they fetch the itmes for you). I have been greated with the biggest arrogance and rudeness I have ever experienced from any staff in retail. This person basically talked to me in a tone you wouldn't even use to describe someone's bowel movements and fumingly spitted at me "WHO are you?! WHO are you collecting for?! Go put your code in the kiosk." As much as I do understand how difficult and tiring it can be to work in customer service, this is not a way to speak to anyone, let alone a paying customer who PAYS your wages. While he was dealing with it a couple of the group managed to get in and were saying very rude and unkind things to me and the other bouncer (who was completely unaware of the situation until then) asked me if there was a situation and immediately told they three guys they were also not allowed to go in because of their behaviour. Unfortunately I didn’t get his name but I can’t say thank you enough. I don’t go out much these days, cause I’m an anxiety freak, and after they kicked off I was so ready to just go home, but these guys totally handled it and made sure I felt safe and I can’t thank them enough for that. We were walking around Newcastle, the sun was out and we were looking for a drink somewhere outside. Everywhere else was packed and we wondered in here as it was down a side street and a little quieter. We went for the banana blossom fish + chips and the vegan burger - the food arrived and the presentation was spot on, however we didn't get too carried away as we are used to sub-par vegan food from the majority of restaurants... to our surprise the food tasted just as amazing as its presentation. Literally we were both just sat there in shock, with us both saying it was probably the best vegan food we have been served in a restaurant before. All round 10/10 experience so we will definitely be returning.
