We ordered the eggs Benny with bacon and it did not disappoint. The flavours they used made it taste so good, it was different, but definitely the best we have ever had before. Not only that, the workers were really lovely and thank you so much to the kind gentlemen’s (I believe one was the owner) who moved their car so we could park outside the restaurant! They made the experience stress free as we were originally gonna do take-away. We are very thankful we got to receive the full experience dining in. This is possibly the best customer service I have ever experienced and some of the quickest food as well. Both servers were incredibly lovely and accommodating. My partner had the waffles, which he really enjoyed, and I had the breakfast burrito. Both so so good. The bacon was nice and crispy, and I loved the ciabata toast, well toasted. The waffles were a treat, covered in syrup and a delicious cinnamon cream. The waffles had a nice crispy coating, and all went down a treat. To top it all off, the prices were incredible, at around $20 per person. So a delicious breakfast, lovely drinks, and the pleasure of watching the planes come and go all while the ocean churns away in the background. It doesn't get much better than that!

All of the staff (especially the woman on the front till) were incredibly energetic, attentive, smiley and friendly. The food here is absolutely phenomenal - in particular, the waffles. For $25, the waffles were a great portion size, presented beautifully and was overall a 10/10 meal. It was like a churro in waffle form - super soft and chewy but still very light with that classic exterior cinnamon sugar crusted crisp that churros have. The plum mascarpone toned down the sweetness, the strawberries were a great addition and the maple syrup was the cherry on top. As I mentioned, the size of the waffles was very generous, and we still managed to finish them all as they were so fluffy and not dense whatsoever. The granola was really delicious and not like many others available in Wellington. Whilst also being presented beautifully, the house-made granola was abundant with chewy oats, sliced nuts, seeds and coconut, and was definitely binded with maple syrup which made it very soft, unlike typical granolas that are crunchy. I really liked this though - definitely one of the best granolas I have ever had. The sweetness was toned down by the greek yoghurt paired nicely with a berry jam, diced nectarine, sliced pear and maple syrup. They also offered milk on a side which was lovely. I did provide feedback to the waitstaff regarding the granola being a very minuscule portion which they very swiftly relayed to the chefs. The staff were very considerate and understanding, and ensured that I left satisfied. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Egmont St. Eatery and I would highly recommend that everyone tries their waffles. They were potentially the best waffles I have ever consumed in my life. I did find the cafe itself a little bit loud due to the music volume and conversing patrons, but that is more just of a personal preference. Awesome work team. Comes & Goes has always been “that place with pretty food and drinks” and the brightly lit environment continued through into the night. The fish of the day was Tarakihi, and we enjoyed the ceviche which had very beautiful tangy sauce to complete the flavour. It is a bit different compared to other places but we enjoyed this twist. They were nice to give us a bit of each sauce to try, and we were very impressed with all the sauces for the fried chicken! The chicken pieces were juicy inside and crunchy on the outside, and all the sauces were really good! Couldn’t really pick a favourite, I was going to go with the yum yum sauce (Korean fried chicken sauce) but then the Delta sauce (a bit like thousand island) was quite nice and tangy, and the mustard was quite creamy as well! For something a bit different, you could also try the plum powder (I grew up eating this with Taiwanese fried chicken). The salad was very pretty, the feta added the needed contrast to the beetroot and worked well together. The pork ribs had a tangy BBQ sauce and were very big! For the mains, the steak was cooked medium-rare as requested, and we also were given all 3 sauces - the peppercorn one is very strong in pepper if it’s your type, and the mushroom sauce had a cumin flavour in it, but the red wine jus was just super gooey and was our favourite (high recommended!) - probably didn’t need the butter de paris with all these sauces but also an option, it has very strong herbs folded in (not brave enough to name the herbs out of thin air) We were impressed with the market fish though! It was pan-fried and fresh, but still soft inside with a slightly crispy layer outside, and that potato puree was so good! We liked everything on this plate, the veges worked well together and this dish was happily devoured. We also shared the panna cotta and the matcha creme brulee (matcha is everywhere these days I swear!) the panna cotta had quite a strong earl grey flavour and the poached pear slices were not soaked in sugar syrup which was refreshing, and the matcha creme brulee was just right, creamy and velvety but the matcha flavour comes through and worked very well - might be a bit too much raspberry sauce on the side but it’s up to you how much you want to add to it! Petone is brimming with dining options but usually during day time, so now a dinner addition is always a welcome one!

We ordered drinks and then starters, but got our starters before the drinks and after a longer than expected wait. My Corona beer came with no lime so I asked the waiter for some, he said he would go get some but never did. Starters were good, not large, but tasty. We finished and waited for our server but took a while for him to come and he seemed a little disinterested. Ordered mains which again took a while but were again a bit smaller than expected but still tasty other than the chicken salad which was larger than expected. I was disappointed with the salad as it was past it's best and not fresh, I picked around the bad bits though. At this stage I was feeling like we were being ignored and had to wave out to get the servers attention so we could get a second drink. Later I had to go and get menus myself to look at the deserts as the server proved hard to get service from he looked more interested in packing up for the night at 8:15pm. We decided not to get desert as it was becoming too much of a hassle. I then went into the toilet but there was no toilet paper, which I mentioned to the cashier when paying he was great and thanked me for letting him know. So overall meals were tasty but not large for the price, salads not fresh. Service left a lot to be desired. Was however not impressed by the food. They have been doing high brunch for a few years now, but we have never been, it was the perfect time to go because they have just reopened for high brunch a few weeks ago after a revamp. We splurged a bit and went for the Aperol spritz 🥂 I completely missed this in the video but they have a set of tongs at every table for you to use, that was pretty cool, and kind of makes one feel classy 😜 The bottom tier were a variety of cheeses, chutney, quince, and cured meat. The middle tier was screaming at me because everything looks so good, I was super impressed with the avocado toast! The avocado was velvety and creamy, and completely melts in your mouth, the flavour was so beautiful and the omelette on the side was very well seasoned as well. The halloumi on the skewer was not rubbery, and rest of the skewer was cooked just right. The corn fritter was cooked the way it should be done, with a little chili kick. Being a pastry buff, I had to go straight for the pastry in between my savoury bites! The croissant was a slightly unusual shape being more long and slender, but it was very flaky and fluffy on the inside so looks did not really matter in this case 😆 I absolutely loved the custard Danish, pity there was only one to share between the 2 and the pain au chocolat was nice and flaky as well. The waffles were a good addition and were nice and crunchy, with 4 slices of toasted sourdough, which worked well with the smoked salmon from the bottom tier. I was very happy with the chia pudding with mango, coconut yoghurt and pomegranate sprinkled on top, it was very creamy and the crunch of the pomegranate was a good contrast. Overall very impressed with their high brunch! Would be keen to come back once they change the menu (cos I always like trying new things)! Also I am secretly more of a savoury fan so was very happy this high brunch was not piled high with cakes! Available everyday and Sunday until 3pm, vegan, vegetarian or GF can be arranged.

Every dish was packed with flavour and looked amazing on the plate — you could tell a lot of thought went into the menu. Light but chewy, it has all the taste and texture and density I expect in a bagel. I’m used to walking into NYC delis and seeing baskets full of assorted bagel types, but Ugly Bagels has prepackaged packs of four arranged by type (plain, sesame, etc.). While I would have liked to have seen baskets organized by flavor (salt, cinnamon/raisin, blueberry, poppy seed, etc.) I won’t hold it against the shop. The space is long and narrow with warm, dim lighting – very cosy. We ordered the dinner rolls, two large plates, a salad, and dessert to share. The standout for me was the ricotta gnocchi with spinach sauce – drenched in rich, cheesy ricotta with gorgeous flavour. That said, the portion was quite small for $40, especially for a vegetarian dish. The half lamb shoulder was also fantastic – juicy, full of flavour, and paired with a beautiful sauce. Dessert was lovely too, with the tamarillo custard alongside the pear and ginger pudding being the highlight. Overall, very well-executed food with great flavours, though on the expensive side. Having the seperate room (usually used by the after school SMASH CLUB) for a larger group of children worked really well, it gave us our own space where we could do activities, play music/make noise and bring our own food (we mainly did our own snacks and ordered cheese rolls from the cafe). The kids could go to the soft play area and run around outside as they wanted to. There is a venue hire charge for the room, then you pay for the soft play per child and can order food from the cafe (this can include coffees for parents!). Then at the end all there is to do is vacuum and take rubbish away. It was an easy location, it is worth going to see the room and maybe bringing your own decorations/party games etc :). Thanks!
