A lovely old bar style in a grand building in the heart of Harrogate. We popped in en route to York and just wanted a quick sandwich. We chose just a cheese and chutney sandwich, thinking it was just going to be basic and something to fill a gap. However, it came in a beautiful, warm crusty bread. A pleasant surprise that she remembered us as the bar was standing room only at this stage! We managed to find a table in the corridor outside the bar which was also very busy and still had a great atmosphere. We were sat the table for 25mins with no service and no one asked us if we would like any drinks. Eventually after flagging down a server, they came over to take our order. We ordered various dishes from the Blackened Cod, Shepherds Pie. We were both very disappointed with the quality and that nothing was done about it. The cod was overcooked and chewy, the shepherds pie was lacking flavour and cold. For the price you pay, you expect better quality and service from an established restaurant. I would like that The Ivy follow up on this and provide vouchers to cover the cost for us to experience again.

Heard lots about The Ivy from friends and colleagues just never been in sadly. Well, what an amazing place. Fantastic service throughout. The waitress kept the wine glasses topped up and the food arrived quickly and well presented. We sat outside as it was a scorchio day and lovely in their outdoor section. I had a steak with tender-stem broccoli and chips. Everything tasted great although the steak was a little disappointing and didn’t arrive in the medium-rare configuration I requested when placing the order. I was mega hungry so didn’t feel the need to say anything. I’m confident they would have done something about it if I had felt the need to complain on the night though. The people I attended with kept saying I should have said something. Had a chocolate bombe for dessert! This itself was a visual spectacle as they pour the hot sauce all over it and it melts before your eyes as depicted in the video. Toilets were immaculate and fragranced brilliantly. Probably the best loos I had been in all year! As I stood there having a wee, a couple of deep breaths of that sweet smelling air really put me in a good mood I totally forgot about the steak fiasco. Very pleasant experience all round. If I’m feeling flush I’ll be sure to be back!

What started as a booking for 8 quickly grew to 13 and then 17 people (plus a wheelchair user we hadn’t mentioned in advance!), but nothing was too much trouble. Everyone was so warm, friendly, and happy, which really made the night special. We only contacted them around 11am, yet they had everything organised for us the same evening, incredible! The Sunday lunch at The Pickled Sprout is one of our absolute favorites in Harrogate – beautifully presented, with lovely sides, the best cauliflower cheese, and unbeatable Yorkshire puddings. An artist was performing some brilliant covers - an acoustic performance that added to the atmosphere. Will return next time we are in Harrogate

The bar staff are really friendly and efficient, and although the range of cocktails and draught drinks isn’t overly extensive, each is served professionally and the cocktails very tasty. The place was very empty and I think there were only two staff members working. Overall I'd say we had an okay experience. To start, they brought us a mimosa each and some chips and salsa. For the drinks, we went for the standard bottomless brunch so there were only a couple of options to choose from. Again this was quite disappointing as the only drinks I was interested in were the rum punch and the daiquiri, so I just kept ordering the same drink. The server was really nice, but there were quite a few times that we sat with empty glasses waiting for him to ask if we wanted to order anything else. We also felt that we were inconveniencing them a bit by ordering drinks but obviously it is a bottomless brunch and you pay to have bottomless drinks! All in all, I wouldn't go for a bottomless brunch here again personally. We usually go to turtle bay for bottomless brunch and they have much better food and so many drinks options, I just couldn't warrant coming back here.

The atmosphere was nonexistent when we arrived and we were the only people in the whole bar, luckily the DJ was happy to play our requests which helped a little. It had been mentioned on their social media that it was a themed bottomless brunch but there was nothing relating to this theme the whole time we were there. There were a few issues with the food such as a very burnt pizza being served to one of the party and some of the party were unable to have what they had originally pre-ordered as I believe the oven had stopped working, that being said the burgers and chips were very nice when they arrived. There not a single piece of toilet roll in the ladies toilet when we arrived and we had to ask for this to be sorted. The staff were friendly and trying their best. We did raise all these issues with the manager at the time who was apologetic and offered a partial refund for items plus a round of shots but if you are looking for a lively fun place for bottomless brunch sadly this isn't it especially if it is for a special occasion.

As usual it was very busy so we were glad we'd booked a table for 12:15pm. We received a friendly welcome and were escorted to our table. Our drinks and then food order were taken and all was going well..until just gone 1pm, when we still hadn't received our food. I advised the waitress who apologised and said it would be another 5-10 minutes, taking us to 1:15pm. At this point, Bruna, a senior staff member stepped in, apologising profusely and explaining that there had been a ticketing problem when the order was placed with the kitchen. Bruna immediately offered a generous discount for the delay. The food finally arrived at just after 1:25pm, a wait of 1 hour 10 minutes from when we arrived by which time we were all very hungry especially Mum. We enjoyed our food and both the waitress and Bruna checked to see if everything was ok. At the end of the meal, with another generous gesture, Bruna insisted on providing us with coffee on the house and then brought over some lovely cake as an additional treat. The reason for leaving this review is because our lunch could have been a really bad experience but thanks to Bruna's professionalism and kindness, we left feeling good about our experience, not because we received free cake and coffee but because one of your team cared enough to make sure we would return. Thank you. BTW, I scored 4 stars instead of 5 purely because of the initial delay with the food.

Not as much as “do you have everything you need?” Whilst the food was good never once were we checked on and several times we were trying to get attention for some additional hot water to top up the tea pots. When we eventually got a waiter walking by I was appalled to find that we had been charged £1 for the hot water. On a £90 bill I find that breathtaking and will not be returning.

My bitterness evidently came from us buying what were clearly premium drinks. We were at the BOTB reunion and we were spending £9 a drink on the labelled drinks from the drinks list provided, Goth juice etc, we never deviated from that last the whole time we were there and that is our own fault. Reading the reply from Management, clearly I am wrong and the drinks prices are absolutely fine for the standard pints and mixers and that is a lesson learned on our part. I still hold true that the staff are amazing, the atmosphere is superb, the aesthetics of the bar are unique and amazing, I have genuinely fallen in love with this place, and seeing the prices listed, this place is a great environment to spend your weekend brass and enjoy your downtime. *Old review - how wrong I was* Honestly the worse value for money bar in Harrogate. £8/9 for a drink is the average you’ll pay. The bar is amazing and the staff are top tier, but the cost for drinks is actually outrageous and downright scandalous. If you’re planning a night out avoid Monty’s at all cost unless you’re willing to sell a kidney to fund it.

There’s seating and tables in a covered section outside and inside there’s a nice number of small tables given the compact size of the place, and some sweet cushions on the two window sills. There’s a good cocktail menu and some decent options of draught too, all at reasonable prices.
