We visited Columbus recently for a friends wedding & had time to kill before we went to the airport, so we stopped here. My boyfriend could give a rip about plants of any kind, but he humored me & we wandered around to see everything. I was in heaven! On a rainy wedding a few weeks ago they even carted guests from the ceremony space to the reception so they didn't have to walk in the rain. The inside of the reception barn is warm and cozy and has a great space for cocktail hour right off to the side. I absolutely love coming here to shoot weddings and think it is an AMAZING option for couples getting married in central Ohio (or anywhere!)

We toured this location for a wedding venue, the two women who gave us a tour barely talked to us. We originally wanted to do a ceremony only, and they invited us out to tour. My wedding day was as close to completely stress-free as I could ask for- and this was in no small part thanks to the team at High Line. They even packed up some leftovers so we could eat more of our french toast the next day. The bartenders, servers, and staff were lovely as well. The food--exceeded all expectations. Everyone said it was one of the best wedding meals they've had, and I completely agree. High Line and Together and Company made Phil and I's wedding so wonderful. If you're thinking about it for your venue, pick HLCH; they will make your wedding day so special and unique.

There was also confusion regarding a tent requirement for cocktail hour on the patio-however, it was resolved. I was also surprised to see purple and yellow florals and some other florals I didn't choose and weren't on my proposal in some of our centerpiece/bud vase arrangements. We wish the final meeting a month out was in person as well rather than a phone call. Additionally the Ellis lofts next door they work with, although convenient, were very tricky to navigate. We could not get in touch with the property manager easily and with a lot of out of town guests staying there it really complicated things. That said, the final result was amazing, and the team really came through for us. Looking back we are so thrilled with the day! Her approach was very "Sales" like she just wanted to close and get her commission. I didn't feel like we received any additional information during our second meeting. We really wanted to utilize this venue but did not like Sabrina's approach to our experience and did not trust the interest of the company in our wedding. This is a special day and we are not in a rush to spend $20,000+ and the hidden fees sent out after our second meeting. No matter what someone says about our day being taken, we are not signing a contract within 48 hours, which is ridiculous and sales bull to make you rush because they make you think your date is going to be taken. The venue is absolutely gorgeous. The lights in the main room are stunning. The space is large and air conditioned. There are huge glass garage doors that can be opened in the front, the back or both. There is also outdoor seating on the first floor. In the basement, there are two suites which are delightful. The one suite has basically a wall of mirrors, with a large countertop, and comfortable seating to prepare for the event. The other suite is called "The Den" and doesn't have as many mirrors but enough to prepare for the event. Both of the suites have private restrooms. The kitchen is in the basement for the caterers with their own elevator. The upper level has 3 areas: outside area, inside area and inside area that overlooks the main level. Our family lives mostly in northern and southern OH, so Columbus area was the perfect middle ground! We live out of state now, and weddings are stressful enough when you’re in the state you get married in. The Makoy worked with us through every step and we left every meeting feeling like we were stressed over nothing. Not to mention the venue is beautiful and our guests (~160) couldn’t stop complimenting it. Matt was amazing at every step of the way to making sure we were smooth sailing and helping with every idea we had or decided to change. We never felt pressured to spend more and they always helped us stay within the budget. For everything you get, the Makoy was worth every penny. Last but not least the food was amazing. We went for a buffet option and everyone LOVED it (including us!) The staff was also amazing for helping coordinate the multiple different severe and non-severe food allergies we had. I’m sure there’s things I missed as I don’t think I can fit everything I loved about the Makoy in the character limit- but if I had to redo my wedding- the Makoy would be our venue/reception no matter what.

We used Jorgensen for our venue, catering, and floral. Overall, the staff was amazing and professional, and communication was great throughout our entire experience. The venue is absolutely breathtaking and all of our guests were raving about it. Merissa was our event coordinator and she absolutely knocked it out of the park - I can't thank her enough! She was amazing, kept everything moving without a single hiccup. She was there when we were setting up the day before and she actively helped us with candle settings and setting things out when she absolutely didn't have to. Anyone that gets the opportunity to work with her for their wedding should be super excited!! The late night staff was also amazing. They helped my mom clean everything up and encouraged her to go dance while they handled everything. The food was absolutely delicious, it tasted even better on our wedding day than at the tasting! The floral team was fantastic - at our initial meeting I described what I envisioned, sent inspiration, and my budget and they quoted me with meeting all of my wants and needs! Jody is the ABSOLUTE BEST!!! She is seriously incredible. We had to push our 2020 wedding back because of covid so we worked with Jody for over 2 years planning our special day and she was amazing to work with. Friendly, professional, accommodating, and excellent communication throughout the whole process. Ballroom is beautiful with plenty of space. We had around 200ppl at our wedding and guests weren't bumping chairs to get up or nudging pass one another. That made perfect sense to us and it was such a good idea! It really did make things feel so much more structured and took anxiety away. The venue was very affordable, especially for all the additional items that were included, such as the dinner service and wedding cake. The CWC has a beautiful garden area for the ceremony as well and we actually ended up getting rain on our wedding day, so we moved indoor and did not use the Park of Roses for the photos. Instead we used the garden area when we got a chance as the rained slowed. The pictures still turned out beautiful. We would have loved to be able to do the ceremony in the garden, but the CWC already had a contingency plan for the rain and and it went so smooth. Many of our guests said they would not have even guessed that we planned to be outside for the ceremony. The hors d'oeuvres, dinner and wedding cake were all delicious. We got many compliments for the Chef and their staff. We also loved that the CWC had many vendor connections to make the process so easy. We used many of their recommendations and were so happy with everyone we used. Most notably, DJ services by Jubilee Entertainment, which is owned by Mark Loy and bartending services by Randi and Keith. We also used "The Flowerman" for bouquets and the other floral arrangements. Mark and his Disc Jockey, Jeff were so helpful in keeping us informed about schedule and gave us the sense of what was going to be next on the agenda we made together. Jeff really put all the wedding party at ease during the formalities and essentially was the coordinator and Randi and Keith did wonderful in terms of bartending. Alcohol at CWC is not included, so Randi and Keith were very helpful in getting all the Alcohol we bought set up for serving our guests. Randi also came up to our head table at one point during the dinner because she had noticed that we hadn't been to the bar for a beverage and it left a really sweet impression with me that she gave us that personal touch. Three months after securing the venue, my friend from high school ended up landing a job there as their Operations & Events Manager and by the grace of God, we were given her as our day-of coordinator. With that being said, finding Darby House on TheKnot (I was not a normal bride - I disliked searching for venues and basically disliked all wedding planning haha) was a gift from God. He knew I would (my family and husbands family, as well) be in good hands. Boy, was he spot on! I was very up front with Alissa about my "vision" (no vision) and was so unsure how to go about any type of planning. She was so transparent, honest and helpful - I really couldn't have done it without her personal and professional advice. Almost two weeks later and my guests won't stop raving about how Darby House was the most beautiful venue they've ever seen and/or have gone to. First off, this venue is absolutely stunning and by far was the best all around venue in Columbus. The staff exceeded my expectations and truly made our wedding day everything we dreamed it would be. Alexa, our coordinator, was amazing and very detail oriented. She was able to answer all of my questions in a timely manner and work with us on our budget and help us with everything we wanted for our wedding day. Nicole was also amazing to work with and very helpful and detailed. The staff treats you like family and was able to help us with anything we needed on wedding day and allow everything to flow smoothly. Our guests all commented on how beautiful our venue was. I want to start by saying the view is absolutely amazing and it elevates the experience for more than if this was just a regular restaurant. These items were things my mom bought knowing she would never use them but wanted to spend money on things she always dreamed about being able to afford, just so she could see her hard work and determination in material form. These were 1,000s of dollars worth items. We found out that a maintenance worker had gone in, the door was locked, and stole her things. Once confronted by management, he quit and the police could not do anything since he claimed he did not know. Management then relayed to use they were not going to do anything and we needed to go through renters insurance, the problem there being that we did not have the receipts or documentation for the value of her things since she had passed and she never kept paper receipts for the items she wanted her two kids to use. We were told tough luck and move on. These people have zero compassion, just care about making money. These people will have zero remorse for grieving families, so be sure to bolt the door shut so maintenance works do not steal things and cause your family heartache.

I am grateful to the event planning team, including Madi from sales and then Sarah Myers and Lauren Murdy from the event coordination team. THEY WERE FANTASTIC! Unfortunately, that was the area where we put our very large photo Backdrop and red carpet, so at the last minute we had to go and bring a number of ring lights to give some light to the area. I am still giving the venue five stars because they were deeply apologetic about this once we realized. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience, leading up to the event, and also on the day of the event! The ceremony was outside in January and was perfect! We got the Barn and the Lodge at a very affordable price. Lorraine was easy to work with, very flexible and had great communication with us. The staff were always so helpful, and made sure to organize multiple meetings leading up to the day of to make sure the event went smoothly. They do heavily suggest utilizing their "sister" companies which was both a pro and con. It was nice to have things coordinated on the back end, but I did have an issue with one of their companies. That was truly the only problem I had, and is no fault of the Fig Room. Beyond that, the staff were amazing and exceeded expectations.
