The beer was phenomenal, the food was out of this world, and the staff was beyond words. This establishment is one of the greatest to say the absolute least. It’s full of nothing but a good time. You want to play a board game? Go for it? You want a SIQ dank shirt? They got it. The food was incredible. I always hunt for a veggie burger on tour; preferably one with a beyond/impossible patty. These guys had the Beyond Vegetarian Burger!! With the special sauce!! The special sauce is really what pulls the pickles, onions, cheese, etc., all together. It’s the blanket on the pig!! I also sat and wrote a letter and doodled a doodle here!! It’s a great place for it! Lots of open space and places to move around too! They even had a bunch of plants all around! Tried a bite at Parts & Labor (which by the way, amazing prices, who knew venues had delicious and affordable food anymore???) then easily made our way into the venue space. The bathrooms were so clean, nicely stocked, and the venue staff were super kind. Even during the high energy parts of the show, I managed to stay cool and comfortable within the middle of the crowd. Casey and the whole team did an amazing job! They were responsive, thoughtful, and easy to work with in all of the planning. I have always seen it so busy and thought that I would try a local restaurant with my family. Well last Wednesday, I see that all of the hype must be for the open mics and live music, because it sure can't be about the food. In all honesty this was the saddest dinner I have had in a very long time. Because we did not want to attend open mic we sat in the dinning room which was great, but our table was dirty. We ended up ordering the cheesesteak egg rolls (3/5) and deviled eggs (3/5) for appetizers. The eggs were okay, however it was disappointing that there was no cheesesteak in the egg rolls, but instead chunky hamburger meat. As an entree we ordered shrimp po boy (2/5), shrimp basket (2/5), and I the pulled chicken plate with baked beans and mac & cheese. It took about 15 minutes for the food to come out and I was disappointed. My pulled chicken did not look like the pictures or pulled chicken. Instead it was chicken rib meat. After our waitress explained they had mad changes recently, I sent it back and got the pulled pork bbq sandwich instead. The shrimp on the po boy and in the basket barely had flavor. Not to mention the breading kept falling off the shrimp. For this to be a bbq joint my pulled pork didn't taste like it was made with love. It barely had any smoke flavor, it was a little on the dry side and my cole slaw was heavy on the celery seed. The cole slaw in the shrimp basket on the other hand was not edible at all. We won't even talk about the hushpuppies. The only thing we enjoyed was the french fries. The quality of the food needs to be way better.

The vibe in boxcar is set up to keep the customer busy playing games which I was, so it’s vital to communicate with your customer or setup proper expectations like a time frame or let me know you may not get a text so please come back and check the window in 5-10 minutes. So trying to blame me was wild to me. But he completely lacked professionalism and his customer service was terrible, so for him to keep saying he was the kitchen manager was really surprising. It was a tiny problem that could have been fixed easily with good customer service but instead was escalated bc of arrogance. It’s called hospitality! Everyone can’t do it! First, it's not a bad place to be if you're under 25. The price is fair and the parking isn't difficult. The inside is very akin to a frat party. Like a Frat party, the room is overly crowded, stick and muggy. The students have no qualms vaping inside and will blow the vapor directly into your face. It also is not always dancing music, just outdated popular songs. The drinks are reasonably priced, but again, more similar to what you would get at a house party. It's named after probably the most forgotten classic of all time(next to the 20 century) the decore was seasonal for sure. A Christmas tree, poinsettias, string lights and wrapped presents. It was okay but def not worth the 30 minute wait. I'll have to come back on a much slower night and give it another shot all the waiting agitated me to the point where I'm not able to give a truly objective review. 1 round 1 hour and 30 dollars later what a total bummer. The bathrooms were decently clean and the bar does have purse hooks. The music is light and indie alternative/edm rock to encourage conversation. I repeat 30 minutes to order and 20 minutes for the first drink. I never thought I would actually waste an hour of my life waiting for a cocktail. I did wait after I let one of the staff know it took me an hour to get the first drink he comped the bill and brought me a second one on the house. Obviously I was a bit upset at the wait sonI can't give them 5 stars. The cocktails are good tho so it's probably still worth the trip. I really do like this bar I just can't give ot 5 stars since I had to wait that long for service. When I come back on a slower night I'll try and update this review hopefully it's less than an hour next time. Great bar but def a bad night. The food is really good too. It's small and more of a bites menu than actual dinner.

We read all of the negative reviews detailing how this place was a scam. Not holding reservations etc. But what we experienced was far worse…. We came across Missy Lanes’ Destinations: New Orleans event and thought it would be fun. We live approx 2 hours away from Raleigh and was making a special first time visit. We paid the $20 reservation fee which was supposed to reserve us a “table for 2 in the bar”. Concerned about all of the negative feedback- specifically for not holding reservations, I called the day before to confirm we indeed had a reservation. I asked about the live music which was advertised. The nice gentleman. Confirmed we would have a table for two and could see the musicians from our table. All was good. We drove 2 hours to attend the event. When I arrived, the place was completely empty. Please see pic. There was not a table in sight, so I was confused. We were seated at the bar- which is not what I expected, but was acceptable if that was the best that was available. The music was suposed to start at 7:00. See event advertisement. I sat down; ordered a drink and an appetizer. 7:15 came around, and there was no music. And no other guests. I could tell we had made a big mistake. I asked the bar tender what time the musicians would start- and she informed me there were no live music scheduled for that night. Even though they advertised there would be. There was no DJ. Not even music playing over speakers. We had no choice but to leave and go somewhere else after making a long drive. This place is a SCAM and will not be open in a year. Buyer Beware.

Still love it! It is just a comfortable space with lots of capacity to fit various sized groups. They have an extensive cocktail menu with flights and tastes so you can experience everything they have to offer. The food was also still outstanding. I had never been in this part of Durham, it is very inviting with a cool vibe. The DPAC is located next to the minor league baseball team……which I now want to make it out to a game…..restaurants all around and lots of parking decks. Everyone was helpful and we quickly found our seats. They have some snacks for sale along with soft drinks and alcoholic drinks. We just got a soda and water because we had gotten dinner outside prior to the show. The venue is warm with lots of cozy seating. The sound and lighting were great. Once the show was over we were able to walk out pretty quickly. The venue itself is a five star. My only complaint is in the parking garage, even though they are conveniently located near the venue, they only had one elevator and lots of people waiting. The good thing is that even though it looked like a jam packed nightmare , we actually got out pretty quickly. Parking attendants have it set up perfectly and you are on the road home within minutes. Overall a great experience and definitely will try to get to more shows here!
