We made reservations because of a recommendation and we are so happy we did. We came to Kauai with my parents and 4 of us were absolutrly impressed with quality of food, service & atmosphere. The bungalows were beautiful, the ambience stellar - tide pools, koi fish and waterfalls with the beach in the background as sunset. Just wow. We ordered the the beet & candied lemon appetizer which was delicious. I ordered the Hawaiian Catch and the lobster was the best I have had (and I have eaten at several top reviewed lobster restaurants in Maine with fresh Maine Lobster and this was BETTER). The purple potatoes so incredible also. My partner had the Mahi Mahi absolutely loved it. My parents had the special - surf & turf. We all ate every bite because each dish was spectacular. We were so full but weren't going to pass up desert. We got the Ugi Custard and my parents got the pineapple cheesecake and donuts - again spectacular and we ate every bite. We left over full but it was SO GOOD. The prices are high but you don't get that atmosphere every day. Just do it - you wont regret it. Make your reservation in advance.

It is a popular breakfast spot and the line is always long, usually a 20 to 30 minute wait just to place your order. It looks daunting at first but they move fast once you order and food usually comes out in about 5 to 10 minutes which is impressive given how busy they always are. This time I ordered a bagel with their sun dried tomato spread and it was excellent. The spread had great flavor and the bagel itself was toasted perfectly with a nice crunch. Bagels with their homemade spreads are always a go to for me here. I also ordered the Spartan smoothie which was packed with protein and spinach and still had an awesome flavor that I was really happy with. My sister in law got the banana colada smoothie and added strawberries which made it sweeter and a nice balance with the pineapple. We both also had their matcha lattes and those were great too. Smooth, not bitter, and a really good balance of matcha and milk. The food and drinks here are consistently solid and one of the reasons we keep coming back every year. The one downside, and really the reason I cannot rate it higher, is the staff. Almost every time we go the people at the register or handing out the orders seem rushed, abrupt, or even uninterested in customers. I understand they are busy and only open in the mornings until about midday, but sometimes it comes across as unkind or dismissive. We have seen a few altercations with other customers over incorrect orders and it has even happened to us in the past which is frustrating. Overall though, it is still a great breakfast spot for bagels, smoothies, and matcha and I hope that the service improves because the food really is worth it.

Technically ate here a month ago but I keep thinking back on the Triple Coconut Shave Ice and Da Ube One Shave Ice. And I wish I had some now. So. Freaking. Good. We had multiple people tell us that this is the best shaved ice not just on Kauai but on all of the Hawaiian Islands. This proved to be absolutely not true. The food was exceptional: fresh, beautifully presented, and, most importantly, delicious! Our guests said it was the best poke they'd had on the island (and by this time, our guests had had at least two other kinds at our other previous events). My brother-in-law, a poke aficionado, got poke every single day of his eight-day stay and he said Dim 'N' Dem Sum was the best. He also said the poke on the island compared to mainland is far superior. They were very professional, responsive, and flexible during the initial stages when we were getting quotes. We reached out to MANY MANY food trucks and poke places to try to get catering, and communication with most was unfortunately unprofessional, disorganized, or non-existent. Dim 'N' Dem Sum offered exactly what we wanted. We wanted our guests to be able to have an authentic Hawaiian Food Truck experience and they came through 100%. Until Dim 'N' Dem Sum, it seemed like maybe we could get people to deliver giant platters of poke, OR, simply prepare it and we'd have to transport it and present it ourselves. Those who could deliver pretty much could not offer staffing to serve. And maybe a couple others who could potentially offer the food truck experience said they'd be open to the public as well and/or the cost would have been exorbitant. Dim 'N' Dem Sum customized a simple menu to be what we envisioned but better (poke and musubi with choice of Hawaiian macaroni salad side), they helped with the permit process, and when we were unable to schedule a dessert vendor (due to permit limitations), they suggested another Hawaiian sweet treat, did the research and communication on their own and effectively helped me out by removing that as another worry and task on my already overflowing bride plate, and provided those for us even though it wasn't something they usually offer. Before they left, they made sure we were satisfied, helped tidy up, and left us with extra food that hadn't been eaten. When I had a moment to really connect with them, they offered some tips about local beaches and eateries and I really appreciated that. Yoshi and Lynell with Dim 'N' Dem Sum are among the top vendors we worked with and that's due to their responsiveness, professionalism, service, pleasantness and kindness. We ordered several items and all were fantastic. Upon following the smell I was at Dim ‘N’ Den Sum (such a great name). I ordered the Dim Sum pack (2 pieces Shumai, 1 Manapua, 2 fried Coconut Shrimp, 2 Gyoza, side of fried rice—add egg roll for $2—and it was a perfect sample platter of most of the menu items. The gyoza were fried but not too oily, the Manapua had great flavor and the coconut shrimp with sweet chili sauce left me wanting more.
