We ordered the olives to share as a starter and we just decided what we were going to order for our dinner when the hostess told us our table would be turned over in 30 minutes. I've never been anywhere that actually told me to leave, so that is a first, but it's totally their right to do that and I don't fault them for that. If you're going to do that then it seems to me your service should be quick enough that people could make it through drinks, dinner and dessert in that time (maybe even an appetizer, if that isn't too much to ask on our anniversary?). There is NO way that was a possibility. We couldn't even have two drinks in that time. It seems to me like there is a serious mismatch between the marketing approach (come hang out and enjoy our "focus on hospitality") and business approach (but don't stay very long) here. I'm so sorry I can only share about the cocktails we had: the Dagger Dragger and King of the Dead were both very good drinks and the warm olives were so good, though not quite enough to be a dinner for two. We actually came for both, the A Christmas Story house and museum, and Rowley Inn. And I'm really glad I did. The food, service and atmosphere were fantastic. Beef carpaccio = Delicious and super tender. The presentation was also very special. You kind of have to eat them whole because there isn't a good way to cut them. So you look like you are stuffing your face with a giant leaf almost the size of your own face. It is also clear that due to the weekly changing of the tasting menu the wait staff can't keep up with memorizing and explaining the dishes. Several had to read off a paper or stumbled over their words which is not a big deal, but it was clear they did not have passion or a connection to any of the dishes. The drinks were great and so were the rolls. Super flavorful and the 1,000 island/Russian dressing seemed home made with big chunks of dill pickle in it. A beautiful place with amazing food. If you are looking for a place for a date, this is it. First off, we arrived before opening time and people were already arriving. There is plenty of parking, but it filled up fast within a short time. Walking up the the building and in, the atmosphere and architecture is stunning and cozy. We asked about the building and the owner built it himself many years ago. The chairs are comfy, there is an outside patio with views of Lake Eerie. The food was exactly what you would hope for. From their boxty to their dessert, not a single dish was dissapointing. The corned beef rolls were crisp and delicious, and it had some of the best thousand island dressing ever. Their corned beef boxty was amazing, each bite was a cacophony of flavors. Their soup of the day was clam chowder, and it had whole clams, tasted fresh and was bursting with flavor. Paired with a turkey sandwich on rye, the bread was flavorful as well and the meat tender and juicy. Their Guinness ice cream is so delightful as well (although the brownie bites were rather plain). Overall, it was perfect comfort food that will keep you wanting to come back.

We made reservations in case it was busy. They had plenty of seating, so you might be able to get away without a reservation, but don’t chance it if your heart is set on dinner here. Elegant restaurant that has a nice and fancy vibe to it. Great for date nights and special occasions. We sampled and found really good tasting wines. Made note and will purchase those wines in the future for casual drinking at home. We started with the complimentary bread and butter. Bread has hot out of the oven and tasted fresh. Also very soft. A+ on the bread. Same with the crab cake for an appetizer. Very small portion of just 1 crab cake, but favor was everything you could want when ordering a crab cake. Moving into the entree is where I marked them down on food. The main course of the meal(Steak, Walleye, Scallops) were excellent for all parties of our table. The problem was the sides were very lacking. My red potatoes were undercooked and hard. They just seemed basic with no added flavors. My green beans were cooked properly, but it was steamed green beans with zero flavor. They were just plain. Same with the corn mix. The sides need more flavor whether it’s coming from a seasoning or sauce. We finished our meal off with bread pudding. Didn’t get a picture of this, but it tasted solid. I try bread pudding at any restaurant that offers it and felt this was mostly a flavored bread with ice cream on it. Not much of the creamy pudding to be a real bread pudding. But it was good for what it was. Overall, I do recommend trying this place.

The steak had a little seasoning. There was no salt or pepper on the table, I had to ask. It was a bit of a wait. The wine was EXCELLENT. The cold air was up high. There is only one bathroom like the one in your home. As I was washing my hands someone urgently needed to use the bathroom and yanked the door open. Good thing I wasnt doing anything more than washing my hands. I paid $85 total, $75 for the meal and $10tip. I didn't find out there was an extra $2.50 charge for subbing for asparagus until the bill came.

I'll start by acknowledging we were present with a large table of 12 for Mother's day brunch which is not during the restaurant's normal operating hours. Our entire group, including my 90 yr old grandmother were left to wait in the parking lot. Once seated the waitress took our drink orders. For appetizers I was able to try the seafood chowder, PEI mussels, and stuffed mushrooms. The seafood chowder was more of a manhattan style chowder - I was not expecting this but was not a big deal. The broth was quite heavy on the garlic, which I didn't mind, but did not have much else going on flavor wise. We were offered extra bread for dipping which was nice. The only thing that really bothered me about this dish was that we were not provided a spoon for serving ourselves the mussels or scooping out the broth. The couple of us that were eating them were left to just kinda grab them with our hands. 7/10. The stuffed mushrooms had quite a bit of cheese in them and were served with a cream sauce which I thought was quite tasty. When we were finally served our entrees - roughly 105 minutes after being seated - nothing could have prepared me for this plate of food. I ordered the faroe salmon from a section of the menu called the "Freshline". It was served with brussels and a "risotto cake". The portion size of the salmon was absolutely absurd. Generally I'm not one to complain about this, especially if the dish is delicious, but the cost of the entree was $32. I would guess the piece of salmon was roughly 4oz. It is pictured below after I ate roughly half of it. The fish itself was cooked decent but was way way too salty, and I'm typically someone who is asking for salt. The brussels sprouts were steamed and were completely inedible. They were not even prepared properly as the stems were left on - I think the picture captures it in all its raw glory. The 'risotto cake' was not risotto but some odd combination of rice and cheese. This thing was WERID - I really don't know how to describe it. There was no seasoning at all and the texture was quite strange. This plate was a literal 0/10 - I would be disappointed if I paid $10 for this in a cafeteria. My fiancee ordered the prime rib and ordered it rare in the hopes that it would come out medium at worst. The meat was completely well done as the picture shows. The meat was tender but also had something weird going on with the texture. We are speculating that the meat was heated either by boiling or in the microwave. The 'whipped potatoes' were out of a box and the green beans were steamed and raw just like the brussels. 2/10. There were several other "oddities" at our table during the service. The shrimp cocktail was obviously frozen shrimp. My sister's crabcake eggs benedict had one hardboiled egg and one egg that was completely undercooked and broke open by the time it hit the table. Two of us ordered the shrimp and grits and they came out on two different plates. I genuinely feel for the staff because it is clear they were not put into a position to succeed with this service and crappy ingredients. I felt like this place stretched the limits on how much crap the customer will put up with. Making a cocktail is a recipe and if you're just throwing liquids in a glass and hope it taste ok or know it's too damn strong is irresponsible bartending and your prices are ridiculous and not consist. You are losing your regulars and crowds daily, because of the shenanigans going on there. Your Happy Hours are dreary and just a bore. The music that is played in this establishment is questionable at varies times and days and needs to be better; especially during "happy hour"... It's the same thread, the same 7 songs and videos. It's HAPPY HOUR, make it happy, play happier music, change the weekly specials; because, it is the same old same old. Now, let's talk about the Browns Backers games... Which used to be a packed blast and a lot of fun...Almost zero crowds any longer and the few that are coming are certainly not regulars. Now, there's a couple smoking cigars on the back patio during the games...Really???. What kind of bar have you turned into. That's where it's time for better managers. Who wants to sit out there, when it's smoky, cigar laden and stinky. cigarettes are bad enough, but most people can handle that. The food is inconsistent, and really expensive. It's time to be better owners and managers and listen to your reviews and be more involved in what's going on at the Twist; because; it appears others' are also seeing and feeling similarly and taking their business elsewhere.
