While discussing with the Mrs what she’d like, a short haired guy with glasses who worked there approached our daughters boyfriend and stated “you look worse for wear, I’m not serving you”, this lads name was Anthony who’s a very nice shy guy who had had a coke with his meal, I ignored the comment from the guy and went to get drinks, this was a different gentleman and he started to serve me but with a glance and the question, “are you with these guys” I stated yes, he then refused to serve me, I questioned and they stated that “we were all too drunk” the most anyone of us had had was two drinks with our meal, I’d had one shandy as I was driving, I laughed and explained all this but was still refused. I agree that if people are too drunk then the bar staff are well within their right to refuse service but this is usually judged by some action not an assumption, like smashing things, falling over or being loud, which none of us were, Anthony was just bopping his head to the tune that was playing and that was enough for your staff to gauge we were all too drunk when in actual fact, every single one of us was legal to drive. It was empty inside, i couldn’t believe the rudeness and it put a downer on the night, we left and decided to go home with no drink. But I’m not letting things like this lie, I think the staff were completely out of order and than they wanted an early night and the easiest way to do that was to refuse people, I believe that every worker should be held accountable for their actions, we won’t be coming back but thought it only fair to let the owner know what their staff are up to.

Cool stuff all over the walls. Very fun if you've ever been to America. The food was decent. The ribs were a bit dry at times, but the jalapeno and cheese sausage was yummy. It's still not my favourite but the frickles (deep fried, very lightly tempura battered pickles), barbequed Boston beans, and fried chicken with collared greens were all raised to level well beyond the norm. Very unusually for me, the puddings were the standout course; New York cheesecake was delicious, and Honeycomb ice cream served in a chilled glass with cracking good solidified chocolate sauce, absolutely fantastic. Wanted an Italian with a bit of atmosphere. It’s really nothing like it looks online as it’s on the main road and very small inside. By that time we were also ready to order food but were told we had to wait for other people to be served. Starters came fairly soon after ordering and we all ok. But the mains were average at best. The rump steak was ordered medium rear and came well done and when we raised it was taken away with no comments on what was happening. 2 of us had finished our meals before the waitress came back to say the steak was on its way, which left my son eating on his own. Even when we asked for some ketchup we were told we had to wait for her to clean a table first! 2 drinks we ordered never arrived and we left the restaurant very disappointed and underwhelmed. Nothing wrong with the dessert per se, but they were the weakest course… which was a little odd. Overall, this was a good find! I’d love to go back during the day and try their brunch - the Malaysian in me is intrigued by the chai tow kway & paratha (the description is that for chai tow kway so not sure where the paratha comes in, but I wanna try it!!)

The food was extremely timely and to an excellent level. The menu is easy to read and covers most bases bases for anyone walking through the door. Although the afternoon tea itself was nice, the visit was problematic from start to finish. One of our party members was disabled and the disabled access was blocked by guests cars at the hotel which we understand that the staff cannot necessarily control, however the access was also blocked by storage boxes which all had to be moved so the wheelchair could get into to the venue. When we were finally at our table the roof was leaking onto the table and chairs, but there was no other table available to accommodate the wheelchair for us to move to. The manager kindly offered us all a free complimentary drink for the trouble, however when bill came we were charged for the drinks. We asked for this to be removed, we were then handed another bill that had charged us all for an alcoholic afternoon tea which again was incorrect. The whole experience from start to finish was not enjoyable, as I’ve mentioned above the manager did make an effort to turn things around but unfortunately there were just to many complications. Overall a disappointing visit.

I booked an Afternoon Tea to take my mum here for a nice day out, after ringing 3-4 times the previous two days I received no response and was sent to voicemail. I left an email and was finally able to book the table for 2PM on a Sunday. When we first arrived there was nobody to greet us, so I asked a barman where to go, he directed us to the restaurant. I walked in and hovered awkwardly before stopping a waitress and informing her that I'd booked a table and would like to be seated. She gestured over to a far table and me and my mum sat down, no menus, no order taken, I was left quite confused. After being left sat for 5-10 minutes I stopped a different waitress and asked her what was going on and that I'd pre-booked the service, she said she'd inform the kitchen and have our order put through - still left without even a glass of water. The lack of communication was unbelievable between the staff and it felt as though they didn't even know we existed. Eventually we had our food and drinks brought out, the sandwiches were terrible, the beef was so tough I had to use a knife and fork and the portion was tiny. Throughout the time we ate and drank we never had a single person come to check and ask whether everything was alright, no other interaction from the staff. I decided I would rather leave and asked whether I could have the scones placed into a takeaway box, rather than clearing the table and doing so, boxes were brought over and left on our table for us to pack them ourselves. I hastily did so and then left without anybody saying goodbye, no interaction whatsoever. I cannot stress how poor the service was here, hence my need to leave this review and warn others.

After our table had been cleared,a young male came 15 minutes later and asked if we would like to order a desert.I informed him we had already ordered them. 20 minutes later,a young girl came and said they could not find our order,so we gave her our choices again. It took another 15-20 minutes for them to be brought,and it was a chocolate cake with a coffee ice cream.By far the worst cake I’ve ever had,so dry & tasteless,and the ice cream was missing the coffee,it was so bland. Unfortunately,we will not be returning,as there are much better places for a proper Sunday dinner. I really don’t know why it’s gone from being so good to being this bad.Hopefully someone in charge can see the drop in standards and decides to rectify things promptly

I struggled to find and taste of peanut in the satay chicken dish. The sweet and sour chicken lacked the flavour in the chicken. It’s my go to place for Chinese food. Tonight we went back again after haven’t been here for a while. She was told that the kitchen closed at 14:30, do we could have a table at 14:00. We arrived to what appeared to be a very busy restaurant. The clientele was varied, from young to old, including children, and had a great vibe. We were shown straight to our table, and given menus and a jug of water. We both ordered the crab linguine to start, with a portion of sourdough bread and butter, and we both thought it was lovely - fresh ingredients and really tasty! The sourdough was nice too! For my main, I opted for the chicken ceasar salad with fresh anchovies, which made the dish for me. I also went for a portion of chips on the side. I really enjoyed it! My wife chose the shell-on king prawns (no photo, I'm afraid 😲) and the half hispi cabbage with sriracha sauce, both of which were excellent, especially the cabbage! We both went for a dessert, with me going for a brownie with peanut butter ice cream which was great, and my wife chose the balsamic strawberries with olive oil cake and mascarpone ice cream. She enjoyed that, but preferred the brownie! All in all a great meal and experience. We would heartily recommend this un-pretentious restaurant, and will hopefully be visiting again soon!
