Currently regretting my decision as I devoured my 4 in about 60 seconds. And their mignonette is next level. If you like oysters, do yourself a favor and get these. I got the west coast ones but I’m sure the east coast ones are also FIRE. Moving on to my main dish, got the blackened/cajun salmon plate and this also was next level. Even the freaking side of veggies was amazing. It’s probably not the cheapest seafood in town but it is easily the best. Worth every penny.

I'm usually in the area for dinner so stopped by again. Food type is the same as before though prices have gone up a bit. The food has that homemade feel, the staff is always friendly and helpful, and the bakery is next level. On this visit I ordered the Western Omellete and a side of French Toast. This was the best French Toast I have had in San Diego. It's the right amount of sweet, fluffy, and eggy. The potatoes were seasoned well and crispy on the outside. Overall, the meal was great! The Reuben is great (with corned beef of course there is no such thing as a pastrami Reuben). But if you're into pastrami then that's good too. Not really my thing. Also the turkey sandwich is good. Also the steak fries are really good if you still eat that kind of thing (I don't). What I really like about this place is the fact that I always get the Reuben and always ask for it to be grilled in butter instead of oil. About the third or fourth time I asked they said that that's the only way they do it now, so I don't even have to ask anymore. Which is great because not only does butter taste infinitely better than oil but it is far healthier. But most of the rest of the food on the menu is just sort of standard diner affair. Not particularly good but a lot of it. But even just having a few good things on the menu makes it a solid 4-star restaurant for this part of the world in my book. So why the low rating? Because I am also reviewing the bakery, which used to be good, but apparently they decided to stop using butter so now it's pretty crap. I recently got a ding dong - which I used to love - and it didn't really taste like anything. The chocolate cake and chocolate coating had almost no chocolate flavor at all and really very little flavor of any kind. The cream filling just tasted like air. I also got what was supposed to be creme brulee but it was really more like runny scrambled eggs with sugar and cream in it. Not the worst thing I've ever had but for the prices they are charging, pretty disgraceful. So in closing I would say come for the sandwiches but definitely pass right through the bakery. And if you are tempted I would suggest saving your money and just go to the market and buy a couple of big bags of flour and white sugar and just start shoving fistfuls of it in your mouth, because that's all this stuff is.

Soup had some kick to it but I like spice so it was all good. Soup was very flavorful with good chunks of chicken and veggies. We had the Lechon which was good, the Arroz Con Pollo which was also good. I had the Seafood Paella which frankly was disappointing, it tasted like they prepared the plate the night before with a bed of rice and a decent amount of sea food and heated it really quickly. The seafood was very bland and the dish was not very hot. Havana Grill serves very quickly so I assumed that they had lots of fresh food prepared which they serve up quickly but that did not appear to be the case with the Paella. When we first got there many of the tables had not been bussed and it took a while for them to clear off the tables which they did but they did not sweep up the floors so left a messy look. Maybe we came on an off day but when we visited here two years prior the service was outstanding, super friendly staff and the food was much better.

We were celebrating a birthday so we ordered a couple of desserts to share. The coffee tiramisu, flan, and chocolate chip cookie were all delicious. My fav is the coffee tiramisu. We were there until almost everyone left after the dinner rush and the nice waitress gave each of us a fruit empanada to take home. So nice! She saw that we were celebrating a birthday. And the sad thing is they don't put nearly enough but it enhanced the flavor of the soup and made it more delectable.
