We ended up swapping, and after one bite, I put it down – a weird sour curry flavour which was absolutely inedible, and it was packed with hard-boiled eggs and canned tuna. But the main issue was really the bizarre seasoning. We ended up throwing most of it away. Not cheap either – two sandwiches and one soda cost over $40. And mind you, it’s just a deli. The guy at the counter was friendly enough, and the service was fine. But after eating the Al Green, I was hungry again two hours later…

I got the fish burger, while it was good, crispy, delicious sauce, like a glorified Maccas fish burger, it wasn't cooked properly. The white fish was still translucent in the middle bit and quite raw when I chew it. Luckily they have the best staffs looking after the shop. She took it over and happily replaced with other food. I chosen the chicken instead and it was very delicious and much better than the fish. Very crunchy, big portion, great sauce and buns. Overall it is a great place, a bit of a queue but it was fast moving, great staffs and good food.

We could have ordered different stuff but what you see on the photo was too filling for me to finish - as authentic carb based workers' food is. There is also one flavour that is consistant across the menu - and its not one found in the unauthentic restaurants which are the majority. My wife had it decades ago in Mexico and doesn't like it. No problem for me. No idea what the flavour was. Nothing we ate was too hot for us: we were asked. We did get an unassuming red squeezie bottle of sauce from the trolley to spice things up. Wow, it was hot - but used responsibly was great. So you either love or lump it but there is no getting away from the fact that the owner is sincere in the foods she prepares and is a lovely person! I haven’t seen the owner sInce she was selling food on the Marrickville market - a long time ago. No matter what, the place is authentic, the Mezcal and cocktails are worthy and if you are up for the real deal Mexican at a good price, this is the place to go.

I first found this place in February of 2024 because I came across an ad for a chicken sandwich that absolutely called for me - spiced chicken in unique cultural flavours, soft rye bread, crisp lettuce. As a local, I have been meaning to try Frank’s for a couple of months and it did not disappoint. The Reuben was incredible. I liked that it wasn’t too meat heavy and the quality of the bread, sauces, and garnishes also shone through. It isn’t huge and there is a large communal table if you don’t get a table by yourself. The prices are on the higher side, but the size of the sandwiches are large, almost enough to share or take half home to have later. We had the chicken katsu sandwich which was full of flavour, the cumin roasted lamb which was a hit, fries as a side and as they serve breakfast later in the day, we also had porridge. They have gluten free bread as an alternative if needed. They also bake freshly croissants and rolls.

We were a party of two and came here on a Saturday afternoon, we were seated right away (walk-ins accepted). Ordered theee dishes - Zucchini Flowers, Mafaldine and Cacio e Pepe. Zucchini flowers were scrumptious and a great starter choice - The outer was crispy and sweet with the hot honey drizzle. The mozzarella and ricotta filling was a combination of bursting flavours I would’ve never thought would work with the tanghulu-like crispy outer. The winning dish for me would he the Mafaldine - The spicy nduja sauce tied everything together and the prawns were cooked to perfection - Super juicy and tender. The mafaldine was al-dente, and now also my favourite kind of pasta! Unfortunately the Cacio e Pepe wasn’t a favourite due to the simplicity of it, however I understand the complexity of making this dish and it’s hard to get it right! The flavour ok to me however we favour the other pasta dish more. Overall a lovely experience, the man who greeted us initially was friendly, very accommodating and helpful. We ordered the Bella Mortadella and the roast pork sandwich special. Just before preparing our meal, the staff let us know they were out of one of the ingredients for the pork sandwich, which was the apple. To make up for it, they kindly offered us an our drink on the house, which was a lovely gesture that we really appreciated and didn’t expect. Both sandwiches were packed full of flavour with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The bread was delicious and had a great crunch, with a perfect filling to bread ratio. While we did miss the apple in the pork sandwich a little, it was still really tasty and the thoughtful service more than made up for it.
