They open at 12 and I would recommend you to come on time just as they fill up pretty fast once they open. I had the traditional brazen beef stew and the brown bread(which was basically Soda bread). It used to be called Guinness stew but they seemed to have since changed it. Taste wise, it wasnt mindblowing. It tasted like tomato soup cooked with thyme. Pretty much thats it. The beef portions were generous but most of the beef weren't exactly tender. They had a chew to it. The male staff over the pub counter doesnt seem too friendly either. He doesnt smile and just seem to have a cold efficiency towards his customers. Overall, the stew was just decent and I would recommend coming here especially just to eat the stew. If ticking off the box of coming to the oldest pub in Ireland is your thing, then yes you should.

Darren and team reserved the snug for us so our parents and our dog could be comfortable in a private space, they brought over water for our dog and were genuinely so invested and caring towards us on our special day. When we passed by in the afternoon, we reserved a table for me and my son. Later we were remembered and seated right away. A very open, honest and personal service from Daniel and the team. Cirillo‘s was open and not only was the food good it was fantastic. The pizza dough was fluffy with the perfect crunch. We tried the fume and diavola pizzas and they both did not disappoint for people who typically order pepperoni pizza. The appetizers are also good. Don’t miss the shared mozzarella. The wine also great and our server was friendly and gave us a great recommendation for what was going with our food. I definitely wholeheartedly recommend this place and it was worth the wait!

When we came in we were greeted by the waitress we should have then walked out! She was not happy and had nothing nice about her. We were seated and then the music started. Definitely not Irish. Granted it’s a Monday night and they do say music 7 days so our fault for not to asking about it being Irish. He had a nice deep voice but pitchy highs. The small serve of Irish stew was yummy but you know, when a salad has the first item as roasted butternut and the pieces are small than your little finger nail, it was not going to be good. Sorry not great. Lacked flavour and the limp old salad greens were gross. You win some you lose some I guess. Oh and when the musician put on his sunglasses, he started rocking it better. 🙄
