We walked from Porto, which was all fine until we started to climb to Graham's - it was a challenging walk on the roads, with very teeny tiny shoulders! If I had realized they were that nice I likely would have just had a drink on the terrace to soak it all in. Having been to Porto years ago we returned because we finally ran out of the port wine we bought then. Kopke was our favorite, so this store was perfect for us. Kopke is a brand I was aware of and have tried, and was hoping to see more vintage ports here. I was very disappointed by the service. The tour was very interesting and we learnt that it’s the only port cellar in Vila Nova Gaia to stay in Portuguese ownership. We enjoyed seeing the barrels and understanding the port maturing process. The vintage cellar was fascinating with bottles dating back to the 1800s and displays of advertisements through the years. The most interesting thing about it, is that this is the place that certifies the wine as "port".
