Based on our research, this is considered one of the best restaurants in NOLA. While we appreciated our visit, we believe there are many other restaurants in the city offering a similar experience. We started with two half-dozens of oysters. One variety was excellent, but the other wasn’t quite to our taste. Next, we ordered the steak tartare and the smoked tuna dip. The steak tartare was good, but the smoked tuna dip was far too salty. It was served with a pile of salted crackers — which felt a bit underwhelming, especially given the restaurant’s price point. Food was cooked fresh , catfish perfectly seasoned and fluffy. Friend had the bisque and she enjoyed it as well. She also ordered a new item on the menu the half rack of ribs. Took a while to get check and leave. Fried green tomato app- this was ok. I wouldn’t order again though. The batter seemed like these were maybe packaged/frozen. Remoulade was different, like a hint of spice (not spicy, like nutmeg-ish or something similar). Blackened shrimp was tasty but dry which is unusual for blackened. Blackened catfish was the same, almost like it gets blackened seasoning then airfryed vs skillet. That poboy bread though, it was the absolute freshest I’ve ever had in my life! It was fantastic! I would definitely go back for the fried shrimp and to try the highly praised eggplant appetizer as well as some of the plate entrees.

After finding some highly rated reviews on Reddit, we made our way to Clesi’s and were blown away with our time there. Then I dipped into the BBQ crabs... They were simmered in a BBQ butter and that oily "sauce" was served underneath the crabs. It was too oily to find edible and the garlic bread was also soaked in butter already. Overall though I thought the flavor was really good on the crab itself...a nice heat. But yes, quite a mess as you can imagine and quite the show for the tables staring my way! I'll definitely come back to Seafood Sally's if I'm in the neighborhood.

I was recommended this restaurant by a local who swore this was the place to go for authentic New Orleans fare, but sadly it was a disappointing visit. It was easy to get to using the cable car since it's right off a stop on Canal street and there was plenty of seating and air conditioning for those inevitable hotter months, plus an overall charm with the interior decorations. The staff was also very friendly and served us quickly, but the food itself was gross. We ordered the Creole Eggplant with Shrimp and the Stuffed Shrimp, both of which feature a crabmeat stuffing. Maybe we just picked the wrong menu items, but the texture was like a globby oatmeal and it was over seasoned to try to cover up the fishy taste that permeated everything. The accompanying pasta and fries were both pretty basic, same as the starter bread. It kind of reminded me of a mediocre Ryan's, Golden Corral, etc. place you find through out the south that fries everything. Not worth the trip if you're in the mood to have high quality food, but it'll get the job done if you're hungry.

But after our swamp tour bus driver who seemed very well versed in New Orleans cuisine (both the good and bad, if any of it truly can be called bad) absolutely raved about this place, we just had to do it. It really does feel like a local neighbourhood gem despite its popularity. It’s quaint and cute and comfortable with friendly smiles greeting you at the door and all through the place. I normaly do not eat fried food but every once in a blue moon. I pulled a piece off and it was rubbery. I would say undercooked. I tried it, there was zero flavor, no seasoning. I thought I would try a different piece. I tried to pull it from the bone but it was stretchy. I told the waitress and she asked If I wanted to make another or something else. I said I will try the grilled chicken because it was diffrent. I had the grilled before so I knew it would be better. I manager came over and forcfully said all of our chicken is going to be the same, we checked it and it was cooked, do you want to just pay for your drink. I was shocked at her rudness. The food has been subpar in the last few months and not worth it. Last time i ordered the salad and it was missing the main ingredients. It was iceberg and a scoop of celery and carrots. Never going back.

I personally am not a fan of the new Orleans french bread because is too hard to bite off. So when you have a juice sauce on a tasty sandwich, of course that balances it better. So, in there words, I didn't have to work hard on my food to eat and chew. And the flavor was great. The only thing I would caution is that you better find a parking spot a cross the street in the parking lot. Even on the busy hour, there was parking available there. But you have to cross a street.

When we arrived on a Friday evening around 6 pm we were met with a small line of folks ahead of us. The speed of the line went fairly slower than expected. These oysters didn't have any charbroiled taste. They lacked greatly in flavor. The cheese wasn't melted, the oysters were warm, not hot. Overall, they were quite disappointing from a place that are "known" for their oysters. These oysters were more like baked oysters that came from an under-heated oven rather than charbroiled over flames. The coleslaw was simple and tasted as expected but in a smaller than expected portion for the price. Overall, Casamento's may have a place in the history books of serving oysters in NOLA and maybe they serve up a decent order of raw oysters on the half shell. The staff was pretty amazing and was even up for taking a picture when I asked of the full kitchen . Food was excellent, still warm, delicious flavor, they were sold out of one item and called me. I ordered the chicken and waffles but with the Rum waffle... BABY😳 THA BEST! ordered a side of scrambled eggs, grits(sold out) but they compensated with extra chicken wing. That Sweet lemon tea, is the bomb! Best sweet tea ive ever had. The waffles were really tough and had time to get really cold. They were sitting in the box on the counter while we waited for the rest of the order. The only thing that was served hot was the chicken that I waited 50 minutes for with only one order ahead of mine (from what I could tell). It seemed as if they were also preparing a big brown-bag catering order. There were only three workers and it was clearly too much for them. Bacon was fried soft which I liked and grits/eggs was good. I tried the strawberry 🍓 lemonade, very delicious. I ordered take out and my walk was two minutes from this place which was convenient. I do not plan eating back at this location but wish much success.
