When we came to visit my niece in college, we decided to give this place a visit. We were not disappointed. As you enter, there is plenty of tables to choose from. It is a “seat yourself” restaurant so we sat at a booth. We thought there would be more Selena memorabilia but there are plenty of photos of other people. The server came to greet us and took our order. The food came out fast and the food was nice and hot. I went with the Juevos Rancheros and they were perfectly cooked! My favorite part of the meal were the homemade tortillas de harina. They were perfectly fluffy and not too thick, just like my mom makes them! The prices are very fair for the size of meals. We will definitely be back for sure! I highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast! There was enough parking for us although I’m thinking it may be tough on their busy hours.

I arrived shortly after 11am and was promptly greeted and welcomed. I requested a booth or table back in the corner so I could read while waiting for my next doctor's appointment. The tacos, charcoal beans, and rice were fresh and hot. The charro beans had a good flavor and were cooked well. The tacos were delicious! They offer Acquia Panna as their water which is always a good sign in a restaurant, especially since corpus tap water is horrible. Drinks: Fantastic and a great value!! For the quality, drinks are so affordable. Not pictured, but we also go the mole Manhattan. They served it with a Luxardo cherry so that was a great sign. It featured mole bitters which added a nice spice flavor (maybe star anise or cinnamon) to the drink. Pineapple pisco was delicious. It had a good amount of alcohol and it wasn’t too sweet. It was the second time I had pisco and the sourness of the pineapple and the egg white foam complemented it well. About $10 - $15 a drink. We moved here from Dallas and this establishment was comparable to some of the places we frequent (like Paradiso but cheaper lol). This bar alone should be keeping the place packed at night but for whatever reason, this isn’t the case. Our server explained that this area is a residential area with an older population but that shouldn’t matter because Corpus Christi is small to begin with so it’s not like people would have to drive far to get here. Perhaps people don’t know about it? Or maybe cocktail bars aren’t popular here? Food: food was delicious! Jayden recommended the Queso fundido to us which was excellent. The salsas it came with were great and had a good spice level. Agua chile had a beautiful presentation. I do wish the shrimp had absorbed more of the flavor of the liquid. Robalo was so good! I love a whole fried fish and I’m so glad we ordered this. It was more than enough to share. They only gave us 2 corn tortillas with it though so next time I hope they offer a few more. The salsa that is served is very plain and almost sweet. My plate was cheese enchiladas, carne guisada, tostada and of course rice & beans. The tortillas used for the enchilada were very tough. Never in my life have I had to use a knife to cut enchiladas. Rice was ok and beans were just beans. Neither one stood out. Lastly I’m very sure that the tomatoes on my tostada have turned. There was a definite odor of rotten tomatoes. If I did return I would try the carne guiada plate as that was the best part of my meal today.

We were however told no because otherwise they would have to hire a whole new staff for the back kitchen, we were then set up with 6 tables together and had one server the whole time. Our server did a great job working solo considering the large party. This was a post funeral service meal with family and friends and I think we all had a nice time with good food. Aside from one person in the group, we were not put out or even bothered that we didn't get the larger room as the restaurant was quiet and accommodating to our large group. The food was good though and that is why I say we would give them another chance but we will wait for sitting in the main area. We will not sit in the bar area and we would suggest to the restaurant that they not use the bartenders as servers for more than one table at the most.
