Not only was the service truly horrendous, but we were charged $6.50 extra per serving to upgrade white rice to fried rice. My chicken hibachi dinner was about $41 while at other restaurants a dinner portion of chicken hibachi is around $19, and I would have a full plate with enough to take home leftovers. The serving amount of vegetables was pitiful for $30-$60 dinner portions. AND the server did NOT ask our table about the ice cream and green tea that is supposed to be included with our meal, but gave us checks and boxes and expected us to leave until I had to ask about it. (It’s included in the $50+ meal, yes I want what was advertised from this “premium” hibachi restaurant). I wish I could make sure that the chef gets the entirety of my tip. Sakura is definitely one of those undercover gems on Indy’s north side. I’ve driven by it a lot but never stopped in. I got to do so recently. Walked in at around 5:45 on a Friday and they were a little busy but we got a table. Our waitress was SUPER friendly and attentive to our table. We started with the Gyoza and the Spicy Ika Rings (calamari basically) as an appetizer. All of that was fantastic! As my entree, I got the Chicken Katsu Don. Now, I did notice a lot of reviews complaining of slow service. However, it only took about 25 minutes for all our food to arrive. And overall, the food was fantastic! The chicken was tender and tasty, the eggs were good, though I will say they did put a bit too much rice in the bowl for me to handle. We then got the Fried Ice Cream as dessert which was also very delicious. Overall, this was a great experience! If you’re looking for a popular Japanese spot in Indy, Sakura is definitely a winner! They need to do some cleaning. The black grease built up on the kitchen hood over the table was disgusting and the cook used a spatula to turn it on. I would not recommend.

The prices and are pretty average for all you can eat sushi. They have a nice little section of items you are able to order from. I think my favorite part by far is that you can order on an iPad. We especially liked the Godzilla, American, Angry Dragon, Marion, and Spicy Tuna rolls. Each one disappeared faster than we’d like to admit, and we probably could’ve eaten our body weight in rolls if we hadn’t run out of stomach space.
