The food tasted so good, above expectations. Everything on the menu sounded good, I had limited time to eat though. Blue crab pasta here is the best I ever had and the stuffed flounder. Never had flounder before but this is definitely worth coming back for. The place was pretty clean especially for the end of the day and the servers were super friendly and helpful. We got there close to closing time but the kitche was still open so they let us order and we quickly ate to not hold them back for too long. All the food was perfectly cooked, we took home leftovers and finished them too. It is such a cool restaurant by the river too, there is a nice view of the river from inside and also outdoor sitting. 100/10 would recommend

These oysters didn't have any charbroiled taste. They lacked greatly in flavor. The cheese wasn't melted, the oysters were warm, not hot. Overall, they were quite disappointing from a place that are "known" for their oysters. These oysters were more like baked oysters that came from an under-heated oven rather than charbroiled over flames. The coleslaw was simple and tasted as expected but in a smaller than expected portion for the price. And we did only come here to get dessert but there's another rule that they don't tell you about is that you have to order more than just dessert. Which I think is a weird rule but whatever. There second claim to fame is being the oldest restaurant in Louisiana. The service provided, was done at a level where you thought you needed to wear a 3-piece suit to dine (most of us had just a shirt, no jacket, and slacks). In the evening the waitress forgot to refill our water, most of the meal, even when asked she would walk away and forget. I made a trip to the restroom so that I could wash the shrimp juice off of my hands (no wet wipes were offered). The bathroom wasn't very clean. The paper towel dispensers did not work, and the hand dryer was absolutely filthy. The lighting was dim, but it looked like either rust or mold/mildew at the bottom of it and I didn't want to put my hands near that, so I opted to wipe my hands on my pants instead. If we make it back to NOLA, we'll admire the decor from the outside but will probably seek other places to eat instead.

We were seated at 7:00, and by 9:00 we had only been served one round of drinks. Dinner was nowhere in sight, and there wasn’t much urgency from the staff to check in or move things along. For a restaurant with this reputation and price point, the pacing was disappointing and really took away from the experience. Once the food did arrive, it was good — traditional flavors, well-prepared, and worth the wait from a culinary standpoint. We spent the week in the Quarter and by far this was the best event of the trip!!! Galatoire's Friday Lunch is a must do experience! This was the one place my father in-law said "we must do", so not going wasn't an option. Just getting a reservation in and of it's self was a task because it's so iconic. My wife called months in advance to try and book, but due to the Halloween festivities it was almost impossible. A huge THANK YOU to Caroline Oliver. She was so nice, communicative, and accommodating working with us. We arrived early for our 11:30am reservations, but not to worry because their bar was already open. We passed through the dinning room as the service staff was in a lineup getting prepared for the day's service. Even though it was all business one server acknowledge us and made us feel immediately welcomed. We enjoyed cocktails at the bar which we thought would be dead, but it was alive and well. We knew that this was going to be an extra special experience based on the elaborate costumes people were wearing for Halloween. We were promptly seated and the ambience was already at a rolling bubble, ready to boil. As fate would have it the same server who greeted us in the staff lineup was also our server to the day, and I'm so thankful she was! Candace Dickey or "Ace" absolutely made our experience! She immediately made us feel at home and took control of our dinning cadence, allowing us relax and enjoy our day. She was maestro to our bacchanalia. The food was spot on: hot, fresh, classic, and full of the flavor's of New Orleans that stay with you a lifetime. The entire staff was on point all around, it felt like we were at a party not a restaurant. We even got to compliment the chef! A second line band even came through and sent the whole dinning room into a festive frenzy! This was a dinning experience I will never forget. In my 15+ years of restaurant management from Tampa, to L.A., and Atlanta; the service and dinning experience from start to finish is what excellence is all about. She was incredible. Believe it or not, I didn’t complain once about any dish, paid for everything, smiled, and said all was fine. She questioned why we didn’t eat much, but I didn’t have the heart to make her feel bad, it wasn’t her fault, and she did a great job. The food, however, isn’t worth trying. Attended a family event in the private dining room on the 2nd floor, which is a beautiful room with direct access out to a balcony looking over Bourbon Street (see photo for the view from balcony). The main restaurant was totally full. Food was good. Turtle soup good - not particularly memorable. Almondine fish good. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was excellent. After speaking with the host and asking if we could sit at the bar we were welcomed and sat immediately. The place was poppin but still able to easily have a conversation which is both rare, and welcome. The bartender was very quick and attentive to everyone’s needs and orders. We decided on the mushroom pasta, shrimp po-boy, alligator bites a tall fall ale and mimosa. The fall ale was perfect and the mimosa was refreshing. The alligator bites were delicious according to my wife, the shrimp po-boy came loaded with shrimp on a bed of more shrimp but came without remoulade and was somewhat dry (be prepared to dress it up yourself). None of my party eats oysters so I got to enjoy them by myself. I had the gator po-boy and red beans. The po-boy was good, nothing amazing. It was kind of dry to me could’ve used more sauce due to the filling to bread ratio. They were not stingy with the gator and I’m grateful for that. Them red beans tho! SMACKIN! Those red beans and rice were about the best I’ve had in a long time. Felt like home cooking. By far the best thing I had at the establishment. My lady had the red fish and veggies. She liked the food but felt the fish could’ve used a little more seasoning and sauce. The veggies were fresh and cooked well. I stated the fish and had the same opinion.
