The Cog Railway was a fun family experience for us. I have personally hiked, biked, and driven on Pikes Peak over the years, so it was exciting to finally take the train! Amazing views, an informative and humorous guide, clear instructions on timing to board and return, kept everything right on time. Lots of wildlife around like marmots, big horn sheep and deer. It was unfortunately a bit cloudy at the top the day we visited, but on the train the views were great! Reasonable prices. Time at the top is limited so I would recommend doing the gift shop at the base instead of the summit.

You NEED to get tickets in advance for best experience and least waiting. You will be glad you did. This was a fantastic tour. We went in June, lots of snow on top of the peak. It was a beautiful ride up. We purchased the front row seat by driver and it was amazing. Our boys really learned a lot, worth the few extra dollars if those seats are open. It’s such an unobstructed view. Photos are like no other.

The train ride was absolutely phenomenal. I highly recommend doing the conductor package. Supper cold on the train take your own blanket. They don't have heaters on the train I was so cold it was uncomfortable.
if you do take snacks you cant eat them on the ride up but once you get to the top and get off the u can eat them.
The visitors center at the top has nasty pizza and hot dogs and cheap nachos but the doughnuts were ok. Everything is expensive.
Beautiful views best views on the left handside of the train.
Take water I only walked from the train to the visitors center and my heart was beating out of my chest and I had a headache.

Riding the Cog Railway to the top of Pikes Peak was breathtaking. Literally. My family of 4 enjoyed this ride! We booked the 2 seat side which was great but we would have loved the views more from the 3 seat side. Now I know for next time! The ride up was enjoyable & we enjoyed listening to all the fun facts & history on the way up! We almost got 1 of everything at the visitors center & Sat down & ate quickly. Walked even quicker through the gift shop as it was slightly pricy & enjoyed the rest of the time outside taking in the incredible views! This was truly a unique experience & would 100% recommend it for any age! We chose as early ride & enjoyed Manitou Springs the rest of the day!

I love bringing my dogs here. It's fun to be on the main dog trail and let them run around as we do our hike. Everyone here is very very friendly and I never feel uncomfortable to my dogs roam around as they please. If you are not a dog person, there are still plenty of other trails for hikers where dogs must be on leashes.

I have played the playground for about an hour and a half. They have three different play areas within the same distance, and two sets of swings. Definitely a park for all ages. Lots of places to sit and watch your Kiddos. Also, a good amount of parking to accommodate the amount of people who were there.
Then we went and drove up to the top of Palmer park to walk the trails. I love how dog friendly the place is even though we did not have a dog. The kids absolutely enjoyed seeing all the animals, and you could just see the happiness on the dogs faces being off leash and running around.
We took a long walk down the hillside, and then into the tree lines. The trail was great. It had been raining for the past few days and it was not too muddy, but it was definitely muddy in some spots.
Entrails also used by biking groups and we encountered a couple while we were a few miles in.
We walked back up to the top, and then we drove down to Lot 12 to look and climb the rocks.
The kids had so much fun and would definitely recommend this park. For kiddos who do not have a bunch of hiking experience. This was a great park to get their feet wet. It gives lots of beautiful views, and the trail really feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere instead of in the middle of town.

I wanted to get to Pikes Peak but my husband wasn’t too sure about making the drive himself so I booked us a 4 hour trip to the summit and then to Garden of the Gods. It was an absolute blast full of laughter and learning!!
Our guide “Axe Man” is a local and shared so much about the history of Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods. We had a beautiful day and saw mountain goats and adorable marmots. I live in FL, pretty much at sea level so reaching the summit of the peak is like stepping out into a different world, I was so lightheaded and woozy from the fact there is less oxygen at the top, I think he said 28% less. The landscape is amazing, the views of the CO plains are inspiring and seeing the Continental Divide mesmerizing. In this time of political turmoil I found a greater appreciation for America the beautiful.
Definitely a must do experience as you can sit back and relax, enjoying our beautiful country and not worry about the harrowing roadways to get there. (My husband admits he would not have made it up the mountain if he was driving nor would I as I am afraid of heights!)
Highly recommend Adventures Out West!!! And will travel with them again if we head back to CO for another vacation!!!

Garden of the Gods! So glad we booked the Jeep Tour, because it gave us a little taste of everything, plus some history of the area. We’d shown up an hour early (thanks to overestimating our grocery run 😬), so our guide (Prairie Dog) offered to start ahead of schedule. That ended up being perfect to miss the rain. Prairie Dog also happens to be a professional photographer and took lots of amazing photos of me and my husband. 10/10!

I had a great trip/tour with "Sketch". We started on time and our guide was helpful and knowledgeable.
I was so grateful to have a safe driver to scale the roadways to Pikes Peak. Sketch knew the roadways well. As we were going up, about 50 old Porsche Speedsters were coming down. It was quite the sight to hear & see.
The weather uptop was much colder/windy. Our guide reminded us frequently to hydrate and to fill our lungs with air.
Sketch gave us a great tour around town. He knew lots of history about the town, people, and buildings.
We went to the Garden of the Gods and got a quick tour through there. It was very pretty and we got lucky - it wasn’t crowded.
Highly recommend this tour group. We felt safe and well cared for. Thank you.

Our excellent experience started in the Garden of the Gods visitor center where we booked our excursion. There was no tour available at the time we wanted the following day, so they created one just for us. We lucked out and got a private Jeep tour with Cougar. Let me just tell you that he was excellent. First off, he had snacks, water, blankets, gloves, and waterproof jackets so we'd have everything we needed for the cold summit, no matter the weather. He knew so much about pikes peak and its racing history that it kept my car enthusiast husband enthrawled for the whole trip. Cougar also kept the conversation and jokes coming to entertain my two kids. And when my daughter got a little car sick on the way down, he took great care of her, going nice and slow and stopping whenever and for however long she needed. He was also very patient with me and all my photos, being sure to point out when a good photo op was upcoming and going nice and slowly or stopping so that I could get the shot. We will absolutely come back to do more tours in the future if we are back in town (their off-road options sound so fun) and we will specifically request Cougar as our guide. Thanks for a great time!

We enjoyed a Scenic Ride to the Shrine tour today that started from CMZ and went up to the Shrine of the Sun. Our guide was funny and friendly, and he shared various facts about Pikes Peak, GotG, geology in the local area, and more during our trek. The weather was beautiful for the adventure, and we were allotted enough time at the Shrine to climb to the top, explore the look outs and patio area, read the signs and plaques, and take plenty of photos/ videos. Hour long "discovery tour" brings you through lit areas of the cave. Pathway is somewhat narrow, includes multiple sets of stairs with handrails, and is a chilly 60 degrees. Guide was very good about keeping group together and having us mind our heads on low passages. It wasn't one of the more majestic looking caves I've been in in terms of rooms or formations, but was a fun and easy tour.

This was a fun and interesting experience, and our young kids (5 and 2.5) had a good time and enjoyed the tour. Our guide was pleasant, knowledgeable, and kept things light/fun. My only complaint is that the cave itself left something to be desired, because of how long it takes for stalagmites/stalactites to grow in that specific cave, they're all pretty small and there aren't many large, expansive areas, it just seemed small. We still had a great time and I hate to complain about something they can't control, just wanted to mention it. Still worth going, especially with kids. We did the mining activity at the end, and our kids loved "panning" for gemstones, they even found a few little chunks of fools gold! Oh, and there are great views from the balcony outside the gift shop.

We came out for the discovery cave tour in May/June 2025. Upon arrival around 10AM on a Friday morning, there was no wait to get into the park and parking was a breeze with two attendants directing traffic. Caution on the (short) curvy road, especially on your way back down.
The person working the front box office/ticket booth was super nice and got me quickly checked in with fool-proof instructions for exactly what to do and where to go next for our tour.
Our tour guide, Tracy, was wonderful! You can tell they've been doing this a long time with the information they shared, peppered in with lots of funny jokes. Our favorite was that you can't touch the stalactites or the stalagmites but make sure to touch every "stalag-PIPE" (the railings! 🤣) We enjoyed learning about the history and science of the caves. An unforgettable experience for all ages! There's a good amount of stairs throughout the tour and some spots where you need to duck and curve around, so keep that in mind if mobility is a concern.
They will also take your photo with your family in the cave and offer it to you for purchase at the end of the tour in a nice little commemorative envelope/frame thingy. Nice little souvenir that fits easily in carry on-bag.
They have an observation deck with a gorgeous view below and all around. Just inside from there is seating, and food&Drink available for purchase.
I recommending booking your cave tour in advance especially if going on a weekend or have more than 2-3 in your party, to ensure you get in the time you want!

My family visited Cave of the Winds when I was a kid, so I thought it'd be nice to come back. It's smaller than I remember...but I've grown since then so yeah, it's not surprising. Our guide, Tracy, was an absolute joy to spend the hour with. He was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and I could tell he loves what he does. There were some young children (about the same age I was when I first visited) in our group and he was wonderful with them, teaching about the cave in a manner that kept them, and the adults interested. This was my favorite thing we did on our vacation to Colorado Springs. We went to the parking area around 8:30-8:45 and got right on a shuttle. The walk up to the falls after getting dropped off by the shuttle was some of the most amazing scenery I've ever experienced. We are 56 year olds who do exercise regularly and we did fine with the steps up. Once up the steps, we thoroughly enjoyed the hiking. When we came back down there were a lot more people there so we recommend going early. We did not have to wait long for a return shuttle. Highly recommend this adventure!

To get to the falls, you will need to park at the Penrose Event Center and take the free shuttle ride to Seven Falls due to limited parking at the Falls. It's a 0.8 mile walk on a paved path to the falls from the entrance. There are many towering rocks and streams along the way. You can view the waterfalls by climbing up 224 very steep stairs or from the eagles nest viewing platform which can be accessed from an elevator. Well worth the visit!

Worth the wait and cost to get in! It was a beautiful walk through the gorge up to the waterfall with a pretty stream and mini waterfalls off to the side of the path. You have to take a shuttle there. It takes a while to get on the shuttle and then walk up to the falls so definelty plan a decent chunk of your day if not expect it to take most of your day, this for sure isn’t a quick trip in and out!

It was nice, short hikes, stairs are a lot for people that don’t like stairs. The Eagle’s Nest has an elevator, I recommend using that so then there is only one set of stairs to climb. There is no access to the falls from the Eagle’s Nest or the hiking trail. The shuttles at the end were crazy. We had to wait over an hour as they didn’t have enough shuttles to get everyone back and they took a long time for some reason to turn back around. Several people walked the miles back and some took Uber’s.

Unfortunately we went when it was a flash flood, so it would probably be more enjoyable in nicer weather. However, I loved it! So interesting to learn about such a different time, and there’s so much history there. You buy tickets at the gate, and have access to the cliff dwellings/museum and cafe/gift shop. We really enjoyed visiting this site. We had a few hours of free time and this was absolutely perfect. There wasn't any hiking or extreme elevation to get to the actual site, just park your vehicle and you are there. We were able to walk inside and the history of the Dwellings was well curated. The young man at the Tshirt sale area closest to the parking lot was a wealth of information on how the Dwellings were moved to preserve them in the late 1800's. It was her life's work and I am so grateful for her efforts in doing so for us to experience a bit of life for these indigenous people.

This was my 2nd visit and it's still one of my favorite places to visit. It's very close to Garden of the Gods, so it's a great place to visit same-day. They have a nice gift shop.
I love that you can walk around in the ruins and that they are immaculate. It's nice to see a historic location that is immaculately clean. It's cool to imagine people living there.

The Manitou Cliff Dwellings offer an incredible opportunity to step back in time and experience how the ancient Ancestral Puebloans once lived. The structures are stunning up close, and being able to walk through and explore them makes it feel truly immersive.

My family had fun ziplining at Adventures Out West Pikes Peak zipline. We had a mixed party including a 6, 8 and 12 year old. They all had fun and it was the first time zipping for the younger ones. The company was well organized and equipment was in good condition. The guides were helpful and entertaining and full of funny snarky corny jokes, which I can appreciate and had the kids giggling. If you have zipped before, it's not the longest or most challenging ziplines, but the mountain views are gorgeous and the first timer kids had no issues getting the hang of it. Came here for my first time & I was blown away by how beautiful the scenery is here. They have a wide variety of animals & you can get pretty close to a lot of them which makes for an amazing experience. My favorite part was definitely feeding the giraffes, they are so gentle & not afraid to come right up to you for a snack. The Australian exhibit was also pretty neat because you're able to get super close to the animals. There's fun for the whole family here & also makes for an enjoyable day for adults too. Every year my sister and I take a trip together, we stop at one zoo per trip and we have visited some very cool zoos (KC zoo is our home zoo). This zoo was so much fun! And has some of the nicest enclosures, we were very excited about this. We LOVE seeing the animals have amazing space to live out their lives.
While here the giraffe enclosure was being renovated. There was a baby gorilla. So many elephants and giraffes it was impressive. The hippos were vocal and the penguins come right up to the fence within reach.....but DO NOT touch them! The wallabys are free to roam so close the gates in their area! Loved this zoo

Super unique and fun zoo, friendly staff, lots to see. They are not kidding when they call this a "mountain zoo" because it's legit all uphill (bring a stroller if you have any kids under 3, because it's a ton of uphill walking and our 2.5 year old couldn't do it all). The layout is a little confusing, likely because of the zoo being on a mountain, you have to backtrack some to get to the next section, but once you figure it out, it's easy enough (use the maps to help). If you are going clockwise and choose to take the shortcut through the middle of the rocks, there is a spot where it looks like there is a sheer rock face you have to go up - the stairs carved in the rock are behind the nearby trees on the left side. We went on a weekend and there were lots of people walking their dogs, hiking and biking. Enjoyed these trails which offer a variety of difficulty levels, walking surfaces and scenery. Parked on Highway 24/Cimarron St. We combined the moderate (blue) trails to make a loop. Sand Canyon to Contemplative (loved this one) to Roundup to Red Rock Canyon Path. This included some steps on rock and steps cut into rock, some sandy trails, great views of the red rock and views of the distance. Loved this location and would return to try other trails here.

We had an amazing high tea experience at the Queen's tea room today! The service was impeccable. The food was all delicious and my niece who is 10, enjoyed every bit of it and she felt very special and very celebrated.
We did the tour of miramont Castle afterward and I'm so glad we did some fun and interesting history tidbits and a lot of very cool local history artifacts that you could get up close to, which was very rewarding.
Because it's an old building, there's some uneven floors so that's the only thing to be aware of, but it is not anything that should prevent you from stopping by. Time and age does strange things to buildings.

I took my family here who were visiting from out of town and we had a blast! It wasn't too expensive to get in and the staff working here are really nice and friendly. There are a lot of cool things to look at and interact with but make sure you bring quarters because a lot of the cute little machines require quarters to be used. It's a real blast to the past getting to see all the displays, they even have gold banning and an informational show playing. We had little ones with us so we didn't see too much of the show but from what I did see it is really good and interesting. I recommend this place to families looking for something fun to do in the springs! This was some of the worst customer service we’ve had in Colorado so far. I looked this up before we went. I seen they closed at 5 and that it took around 30 to 45 minutes to go through so we stopped in. We were greeted by an older lady with short hair with an attitude. As we walked in the door at 3:50 she said are you here to go through the museum? We close at 5. Then huffed and puffed and acted as if we were killing her by being there and reluctantly sold us the tickets. We went in anyway, refusing to let her ruin it. Only to run into her at the bathroom with the same attitude. It’s 4:30 and we close at 5. We exited the museum and started shopping for souvenirs as she stared at us the whole time, when another gentleman walked in. He was greeted with an even worse attitude as she told him he could come back during normal business hours and that they’d be happy he was there while smirking and huffing. We then laid our stuff down we had planned to buy and walked out of the door as she followed and locked the door at 4:45 behind us. We get it, you close at 5 but there is a professional way to tell people without the attitude that says we don’t want you here. You shouldn’t be working in a museum if you don’t like tourists. As for the museum, it’s ok. A little overpriced. Would have been a lot better with informative staff that was happy to be there and genuinely interested in telling people about it.

I've driven by this museum many times and finally had an opportunity to visit. I was not disappointed. I highly recommend a guided tour. A great little place to pick up all sorts of informational items. It's free and the staff is very nice. Great for both visitors, and worth a trip for new residents too! I find the location great as it's easy access to I25 as well as west toward Manitou. Personally it's perfect for cental to tourism. The building is well marked, and the parking is free.

My wife took me on this trip for a birthday present and it was fantastic! Kali, Joel and Logan were our guides and could come with higher recommendations for anybody thinking about doing this trip. Safety was always first and they made everybody feel at easy, about the altitude (it's high up there) feeling comfortable with the ride and how everything worked. There was always a van in front and behind the pack and the balance between fun, being safe and spectacular views was perfect. They checked on us all individually as we were riding, helped with photos and they genuinely seemed to want to make sure everybody was having a great time. Can't want to come back with my kids!

We did the Garden of the Gods electric bike tour and it was amazing! Even the teenager loved it and y'all know how hard it is to make a teenager happy! The electric bikes made pedaling up the hills a breeze and the guides keep you safe while traveling along the roadways and bike lanes. Lydia and Asher were our awesome guides. They provided great info about the rock formations, the park and other things to do in the area. We made frequent stops to view the amazing rock formations and get pictures. We highly recommend this activity if your wanting to experience Garden of the Gods. Teenager approved!

Excellent!!! We reserved the E-bike tour for 2pm only to find out our breaks over heated going down our previous downhill trip from Pikes Peak. They were very understanding of the situation and waited to give us a separate tour. Mike was an excellent guide with great advice for us newbies. My husband & I love adventure, so when looking for fun experiences for our time in Colorado Springs, we came across this bike tour company for Pike's Peak. Our guides Mark, Austin & Eli were awesome and were so helpful the whole time. They always kept our safety in mind.
You'll start by checking in, and it was nice to be greeted with some bagels and coffee before heading out. Once we got to the Peak we were allowed for some time to check out the top (Don't forget to try the donuts). Once we started our trek down the mountain, we were able to stop a few times to do check-ins and to take pictures of the views. Once done, they dropped us off at Thunder & Buttons for lunch. I had the black bean burger which was soo good. All-in-all an excellent experience. Highly recommended!

I am not even sure words can express the awesomeness of this experience! We had the best guides! Marcel and Beth make you feel like family and are always making sure you are comfortable, having fun, and learning about the area, nature and even the weather! You feel safe the whole time because it is their top priority. Also they handle your gear for you! Me and my husband did the Bike Gold Camp and it was amazing!!! Scott was so friendly and knowledgeable. Right when we arrived he had everything ready to go. He drove us up the mountain and we had great conversation. He gave us clear instructions and met us at the points he mentioned. The views were spectacular and biking down the mountain was super fun. It’s even great for beginner mountain bikers. We did the Captain Jack trail which was a little challenging but so much fun! I highly recommend! Totally worth doing if you’re in Colorado Springs. We will definitely do it again with this company!

Beautiful park with verdant green slopes with Cheyenne Mountain in the background jutting up. Great if you like hiking and nature walks. You get a mix of prairie, scrub oak and montane forest with in a reasonable hike.
The park impressed me with little things, the bathrooms at the trailhead, the fact that all the trails are labeled with small sign along the trail and All the maps at the intersection face North! Also the information sign were in good condition and were relevant.
Staff at the visitor center were helpful and pointed me to good trails.
Only down side was the weather and the fact some trails were muddy and that stuck to your boots. I treated as a new experience and didn’t let the rain ruin my enjoyment.

This state park is one of the best RV friendly places we've stayed at so far. Easy access for any rv up to 40', possibly longer. Extremely clean park, including the restrooms 🚻!!
Lots of wildlife here. We have seen Mule Deer, turkey, prairie dogs, and other native animals. We totally enjoyed the stay and wish we were able to stay much longer. However, our journey only included 2 days here. Very close to all major Colorado Springs attractions!!
Make sure you plan to make reservations way before going there. It's obviously a very popular campground. We were lucky to get the ada spot two weeks in advance. There was no other non ada available for more than 4 weeks of advance checks we made.
Make your reservation soon and go visit this amazing state park!!!

Wow...grew up in the Springs, even went to UCCS, and I have never done this trail until today.
Although it's far from being my favorite hike, it is impressive in that, the Austin Bluffs Open Space is "hidden" in the middle of town. It only takes minutes to get to from Academy, and yet, you feel like you're somewhat secluded.
I went on a hot, summer afternoon and there was absolutely no one else in sight 🤣. Obviously, most people are smarter than I was. Who hikes when it's 94⁰ and sunny?! Regardless of the extreme heat, it was still worth it! The Open Space provides an opportunity to get in a quick 1-2 mile hike and take in some beautiful views.

A wonderful place to explore and adventure. Brownish green high grasses cover the valley floor, while the steep hills feature noble pine trees surrounded by scrub oaks and other brush. The paths are narrow, but considering the vast degree of open space and the relative lack of hikers, this is not a problem. The stark allure of the Colorado wilds is clear here, from the gnarled old pines and junipers to the sheer ridges formed of vaguely reddish stone. Because of the narrowness of the dells, the cliffs seem higher and more majestic. I highly recommend going here if you want a hike that evokes the pristine spirit of Colorado without demanding too much stress or traveling out from the Springs.

Climbing up the stairs is a pain; hellstairs. Thankfully, I didn't fall when climbing up the stairs, but it was difficult due to my lungs running out of air so quickly. I had to take a lot of breaks off the trail to lower my heart rate. When I got to the split trail, I took the longer path, and I found it easier to walk up. I'm about to walk down, I'll update this when I get down.
On the way down, it gets easier to get down, but there is still caution to take while walking on the trail. It is a lot of beautiful sight and eye-catching scenery. I recommend climbing the Barr trail when the sun is not scorching hot and it is burning skin.

Been coming here frequently for a few years now. Love hiking here the park is well kept and I wanted to give a shout out to the park rangers or whoever keeps this place clean! I have two dogs I bring and I always pick up after them. Which I know some people do but I wish everyone did! They do such a great job of picking up all the poop and making sure all trails are cleared when trees have fallen over as well! I appreciate yalls hard work! I would like to add a suggestion is it possible at the top to add another trash can before the main trail breaks off into the side trails? I feel this could help with the dog poop bags I see or just poo. I know my dogs are different compared to others, but they tend to let it all out before we reach all the trails.
