Dafür wird man aber reich belohnt: Die Natur entlang des Weges ist einfach traumhaft. Besonders die vielen kleinen Wasserfälle – und auch ein großer – machen diese Wanderung zu einem echten Erlebnis. Wir waren an einem Samstag unterwegs und haben überraschend wenige Menschen getroffen – vielleicht zehn insgesamt.
Wichtig zu wissen: Für Menschen mit körperlichen Einschränkungen ist die Tour eher nicht geeignet, da es viele Stufen und unebene Passagen gibt. Auch wer mit Hund oder anderen Tieren unterwegs ist, sollte sich bewusst sein, dass es durch eine teils sehr tiefe Schlucht geht.
Startpunkt ist in der Nähe der Stadt, gut ausgeschildert und mit sehr guten Parkmöglichkeiten – das macht die Anreise unkompliziert. Insgesamt eine tolle Tour, die wir sehr empfehlen können!

The Birks of Aberfeldy is a truly stunning walk — a perfect mix of nature, tranquillity, and a little bit of adventure. The well-marked trail takes you through beautiful woodland alongside a rushing burn, with plenty of picturesque spots for photos. The highlight is the series of waterfalls, which are especially impressive after rain.
The circular route is manageable for most fitness levels (about 1.5–2 hours at an easy pace), but there are some steps and steeper sections, so good walking shoes are a must. Benches and viewpoints along the way make it easy to take breaks and soak in the scenery.
It’s easy to see why Robert Burns wrote a poem inspired by this place — the atmosphere is magical. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Perthshire!

We walked the route back to front which made the climb much easier on the way up. The falls were dramatic as there had been a lot of rain the night before. It is truly beautiful and being so easily accessible from the town centre for most able bodied people.

Hiked this loop on a sunny October afternoon and it was magical. Totally understand Burns inspiration. Let me just thank the park management for not over touristing the trail, and leaving it in a mostly natural state. Its the single most beautiful hike I've ever had. Ive been to Iceland, laurentian mountains which were amazing. Unfortunately not wheelchair friendly, you do need a basic level of fitness, or just go very slow and take your time. I recommend going up the right side and down the left. Which will be more like a ramp going up and stairs coming down. The Trees, rocks, waterfalls, moss, autumn colors is greater as a whole than the sum of its parts. I have seen each more beautiful in other places, but everything working together makes this place spectacular.

This walk was one of the highlights of our month in Scotland. It was raining most of the two hours, but we didn't care a bit because the waterfalls were so beautiful. We walked the path counter-clockwise, which made the second half of the trip much more interesting than the first half. I think I'm glad we did it tgat way. The rain made it a bit more challanging. Wear waterproof shies with good traction, but don't miss this. And be sure to read the Burns poem about it!

I recently joined the whisky tour and found it to be the most comprehensive one I’ve experienced so far. The tour began with a well-made video that shared the history of the distillery, followed by an informative exhibition. We then had a guided walk through the entire distillery, which gave great insight into each stage of the whisky-making process. One unique part of the experience was the “altitude tasting” session, which helped identify the type of whisky that suited my personal taste preferences.
The highlight of the tour was definitely the tasting session. Since I went with my family, we were able to sample a wide range of whiskies, including the 12-year, 18-year, 21-year, and a highball. It was a fantastic opportunity to appreciate the depth and character of each expression.
If there’s one area for improvement, it would be the pace of the tour. It felt a bit rushed, and I didn’t have enough time to fully explore or take in the details, especially in the exhibition section. A little more time at each stop would have made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it’s a highly recommended tour for both whisky lovers and curious visitors.

The whole tour was excellent with an opportunity to taste some great Whisky that I probably wouldn’t normally buy.
The entire set up at the distillery is really good, with a lovely cafe and bar area to also enjoy.
Having visited other distilleries in the past, think this one was the best.

We had such an amazing experience on the Dewar’s Drams of Your Dreams tour with Michelle at Aberfeldy Distillery. The whiskies they brought out were truly exceptional! The tasting was incredibly fun, and our guide was wonderfully friendly and informative—she showed so much enthusiasm and passion throughout the experience.
Although it wasn’t cheap, the £120 price tag was absolutely worth it to sample four outstanding malts over 35 years old, plus a phenomenal 32-year-old. As a special touch for our honeymoon, they even treated us to a pour of Brackla 25, which was such a kind gesture—and it tasted amazing too!
Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for something memorable and unique.

We visited Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery the 1st day of September of 2025, and it was absolutely fantastic! It has a lovely cafe and bar area to also enjoy, and the crew is wonderful.
We had the opportunity to take the tour, which was the perfect mix of informative and fun. Our guide, Ian, was friendly, informative, entertaining and a Great story teller. He keep us laughing and engaged throughout. A truly memorable experience.

Love myself a fine single malt. Although Aberfeldy isn’t one of my usual go-tos, I was happy to tour the distillery — and more importantly, sample their 21-year single malt. The facility and grounds are beautiful and well maintained.

My partner and I visited here for the first time today. The staff were absolutely wonderful so welcoming and friendly. There was a girl who had only started, who provided such a lovely service to us. The food was absolutely phenomenal. I got a cheese and onion chutney panini and I genuinely think it's one of the nicest panini's I have ever had, my partner had the soup of the day which he said was lovely. They even brought a bowl of water for the dog which was very kind and appreciated. Highly recommend visiting here for a coffee or quick bite to eat.

This cinema is a little gem of a find, because of its size it gave a very intimate feeling of watching with friends, the seats are so comfortable, no smelly hot dogs or popcorn no one sitting playing on their phones. There's a great cafe in the foyer where you can have something substantial to eat or cake and coffee or wine. To me it was the best visit to the cinema in many many years. Its a long way for us but worth every mile and the scenery through the Sma Glen is spectacular. We shall be back for sure, loved it ❤ The film we saw was Fisherman's Friend's it was fantastic.

Interesting little place with great cafe downstairs and a wonderful bookshop upstairs. Locally made cakes and slices in the cafe. Highly recommend the carrot cake. (They only keep one slice in the display fridge but there is always more in the kitchen). Goooood coffee! Cosy seating available inside or if its a lovely day, there is seating outside in the pretty garden. Friendly staff and a wide variety of books to choose from catering for all ages and most interests.

We have always made a point of visiting the Watermill Bookshop & Cafe when in Aberfeldy.
You can always guarantee that you will receive a warm welcome in a very warm atmosphere. Not just because of the wood burner, but because the staff and building make it a great place to provide this vibe.
We ordered tea and coffee with gluten free chocolate cake. We couldn’t have been more happy, everything was great and the chocolate cake was massive !
The book shop is amazing with a huge selection of books from Scotland which is a passion of mine and something that we Scots should not be ashamed off. Why does Scotland not do this more and stock just stuff from Scotland?
The artwork was interesting with some amazing etchings , other work, well not so much.

Bookshop excellent. Food looked good in the cafe but we never got to try it. We waited as instructed by the fireplace for a table. They led the people directly Infront of us to a table so knew we were next. The next free table came free and they completely skipped us in the queue and led the people behind us to the table. We were too polite to kick up a stink so just left. The young lad did it and i think he might have been oblivious, the lady clocked it but didn't say anything. Neither did the rude people behind us who knew exactly what happened. I felt really embarrassed. It's worth a visit I'm sure it doesn't happen often. But kind of ruined our little visit. We were really looking forward to it as well.

I had originally found out about Glen Lyon from the coffee festival in glasgow a few years back and got the chance to visit the roasters on a recent camping trip.
The coffee here has to be in my top 5. I dont know or if its the beans or the staff technique. But it was amazing. We got 2 different bean in cappuccino form, and the flavours/ tasting notes were so distinct.

Having thoroughly enjoyed a walk through the Birks of Aberfeldy we looked forward to a decent refreshment nearby. Imagine my delight when I realised that I could smell roasting coffee beans. We followed the scent to GlenLyon Coffee roasting house on the skirts of Aberfeldy. A wee oasis. Very welcoming and friendly. Plenty of outdoor seating covered in the style of a Yurt. Beautifully crafted wood with canvas. There was of course hand sanitiser available and Covid rules were clearly stated. The team were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. (I love my coffee so that counts).
I ordered and paid for latte, (phone or card payment ok) and within a few minutes coffee was delivered. It looked good, smelled better and tasted great at a very reasonable price too. I sat outside and thoroughly enjoyed the view to the hills. Ok there are some buildings in the way but you can still enjoy the tops of the hills.
The atmosphere in the cafe was great. There were musical instruments which were available to play, ( in non covid times) and the piped music was first class. Not too loud, but loud enough to be enjoyed.
I've now been twice and will probably go again before we leave Aberfeldy.
A great wee find, definitely try it out.

But it is a spectacular burn-side walk, with wonderful trees and spectacular waterfalls. It takes about an hour and a half, up to the Falls of Moness and back again.

A truly magical place, it's no wonder this place has been an inspiration to artists for hundreds of years. If you're in the area at all this is well worth the walk. Entering the area the best bet is to go over the bridge and to the left as it is mostly flat and has stairs up. Going the right route is hilly and easier on the descent. Especially if you go early in the morning you can not see another soul while walking which is a rare treat in a place of such natural beauty.

I was thrilled to see the steam roller as I have memories of climbing on it as a child ! Review from a tourist visiting from the states in September: I will keep this as relevant and succinct as possible because it was hard to find good info on this golf club.
First of all, this is a volunteer run "executive nine" type course that perfect to sneak some golf in while on holiday. It is NOT links style. Don't expect much and you'll be surprised. Don't bank your scotland golf dreams on this course.You'll need an element of luck to get on the course here if you don't have clubs with you because it's a VERY homegrown operation. But if you can scare up a 7 iron, hopefully a driver or 5 wood, a Pitching wedge and a putter you can play here. I also found out later from a local that the course is having a hard time staying open because the city/county wants to reclaim the land (it used to be 18 holes and they already took 9 holes, the all-too-sad story of golf near city centers) but it's also in a flood plain so they can't just come and take it without dealing with that. The course is in GREAT shape if you drop your resort golf needs. (if after reading above you complain about conditions, you're just being a jerk!) Greens are cut thick and roll slow but they're not terrible. Fairways are lush as a country club from the US due to the rain. Many holes do not require driver. Day 1 I showed up to play and literally walked in and found what was clearly a set of slightly beaten rental clubs, balls and tees and borrowed it. Happily then dropped my green fees + rental of 15$ pounds in the "honesty box". It's "play all you want for a day" in the cost. One of the members must have left the clubhouse door open while they were playing. VERY pleasureable round, although a bit soggy (it's Scotland!)
Day #2 (sunday...can you imagine this in the states) the clubhouse was CLOSED (on a sunday!!!!) . I hung around a bit and When a member showed up, I asked if I could grab the same set and play again and he was kinda rude about it, thinking I was grabbing someone's gamer set (uhhh come on dude, It was an old set of Pings and an outdated Taylor Made driver...it was a beater borrow set). Oh well, it's like day #1 was all a dream. I'm Still giving them five stars for keeping the golf fire going in the village.
Oh, and they have a PUB directly attached to the clubhouse where the men gather to drink and watch sports. How cool is that?

Wonderful historical castle with a truly beautiful atmosphere - you can sense the stronghold that it once was. Clan history in abundance and such a wonderful opportunity to explore all parts of a Scottish castle. Multiple rooms and stairways allowing access to four floor. Turret rooms are extremely uneven on the floors as one would expect from a castle! The castle is largely unfurnished which added to the atmosphere in my opinion….its cold throughout with uneven floors extremely low doorways. Stunning views across to the mountains from the upper floors. It’s a proud and unashamedly masculine place. Toilets are available on the entrance floor and a tea room (unfortunately not open when we visited due to staff shortages) disability access could be problematic depending upon disability - low lighting - uneven walls and floors extremely - I feel it would be worth asking prior to arrival for access advice. Limited parking outside the castle - we really enjoyed our visit …highly recommend popping in if you are in the area. I noticed they do haunted cellar tours on certain evenings - whilst not being the most receptive to things like this I honestly think that there is a strong possibility of “ghosts” here!

Wir waren spontan hier, Mitte Oktober, kurz vor Saisonende. Es gab für Kinder ein lustiges Halloween-Event: die überall verstecken (Lego)Mumien, Hexen, Vampire usw. entdecken. Manche waren richtig gut versteckt! Für fleißige Finder gab es am Ende eine kleine Belohnung (Süßes oder Saures!). Die Großen hatten indes dadurch genug Zeit, sich die Ausstellung in Ruhe zu betrachten und etwas über den Clan der Menzies und dieses Schloss zu erfahren. Es gibt viele sehenswerte Exponate und interessante Geschichten hinter den einzelnen Malereien und Gegenständen.
Der Tearoom hatte leider schon geschlossen, aber das ist in der Nebensaison zu erwarten. Die Dame am Eingang war sehr freundlich und auch hilfsbereit, als uns das Phantom immer wieder entschlüpft ist.
Das kleine Mausoleum in Weem haben wir uns nur von außen angeschaut, für die Aktion mit dem Schlüssel (gegen Pfand holen und dann wiederbringen) war es uns schon zu spät.
Wirkönnen den Besuch nur empfehlen!

Loved the little information cards, we ended up spending two hours walking through in the pouring rain looking for everything mentioned! Lots of red squirrels - so calm having you coming right up to em! Wonderful big red wood too.
Car park is small ( 8 cars max ), road even smaller but well maintained. Mercifully we never met anyone coming down once we turned onto the wee-er road to get to the house.
Would visit again especially in Spring!

This is a stunning garden for plantophiles!! We visited just to see the massive Wellingtonias and the Silver Fir, so many huge wonderful trees here! But we were also bewitched by the garden, the Primulas and blue Poppies massed with crazy Arisaemas and stonking great Himalayan Lillies…despite the rain it took us two hours to get around!! It is a beautiful garden and we appreciated the huge amount of work that has made it that way! Not an easy place to garden…
The car park is good for cars but if you are in a camper or large van it might be better to park and walk up!

Although not terribly well sign posted and up a narrow lane with passing points does make you wonder where your heading , once you arrive you are presented with a wonderful garden. Entrance is £5 (cash) and then you are given some laminated notes and left to follow the numbered path. Not only is the selection of plants, flowers and trees excellent but there is a high chance of a red squirrel sighting as well as lots of bird life that you can sit and watch as they feed. It's delightful, the one caveat is that it is on the side of a hill, there are steps some quite steep that if you have mobility issues may possible limit some access to areas. This is a top site and well worth a visit
