The whole town of Knaresborough is truly picturesque, colourful houses, cozy cafés, and beautiful little streets everywhere. I was lucky to visit during autumn, when the leaves made everything even more magical, and the shops were decorated for Halloween, which added such a fun and vibrant atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Yorkshire!

However; I just had the most amazing day and would highly recommend it to families. I got there early so was able to park inside the facility, but there is a big car park just across the road. I loved that the walk was atmospheric. It is quite a walk so heed the advice and wear comfortable shoes, also because the wishing well and cave area are quite damp and wet. There is quite a few steps, but the great thing is there are covered stroller parking spots! There is an amazing playground, where my kids would have had a blast. There is also a lovely cafe run by the wonderful Diana, a gift shop with Alex, and Peter at the gate was a fountain of information. They were setting up for a Halloween Event that I’m sad I can’t attend. £39 a car load of up to 5 people is extremely reasonable- definitely a day trip that all would enjoy. Skeletons and witches and spiders are all welcome. Absolutely a day to remember and an honour to learn more about Mother Shipton. What a sad story…. Oh, and Diana thanks for bringing a #SconeAsInGone lady. Those other two say it the wrong way!!

The place was busy but not overly and had a great family feel. We wish we could have taken our kiddies here when younger, they would have loved this. We enjoyed the Halloween experience and so good to have somewhere that is dog friendly. Loved the autumnal walk and pretty lights. The queue for the hot chocolate and drinks was large so would be nice to have two venues for refreshments but people bought their own as well so we could have planned to do this. Lovely outdoor walk with the dog and interesting site. Poor mother shipton and her 15 year old mum, what a life. When you think about it a poor bullied young woman who made the best of her tragic life and now we visit the cave she lived in. The sites not that deep though lol so it is child friendly in presentation, but as an adult visiting it's quite thoughtful. I love the history and that it's been visited for so many years. Did we sit and have a quick bite to eat in this picturesque setting, with the sun shining on the water ? Now it’s been a while since I’ve rowed a boat, and it took a minute or so to get my sea legs into gear, but when I did …. we were off !! That was until my chief helmsman ( or helmswoman ) steered the boat all over the place. From one side of the river to the other. It was like we were dodging mortar fire, that is until we hit another boat (fortunately it was tied) up, then into some trees then, we headed for the riverbank, then ….. well at that point we just ‘gave it a by’ and we headed for the dock. Even though my ‘helmsperson’ had us all over the place it was bloody good fun !! Once back at the dock and disembarked our vessel we made straight for the café. The rolls n sausages were delish, and the Mrs had a breakfast thing with granary stuff, the kind of thing you find at the bottom of a bird cage, along with Fromage Frais, honey and fruit … as you can tell she’s the healthy one. While we were sitting on the banks of the river drinking in all the beauty round about us ( and enjoying a lovely coffee ) we saw her sister and man coming back. They, fared better than us … lol ) People came and went, some took boats out others preferred to just sit and watch while enjoying a meal, or a tea and scone and let the world go by. It was a lovely day !! Not only was the food good, it was hot, and delicious, and the staff were a friendly bunch. Specifically, the chap that helped us on and off the boat, he must have the patience of a saint. Especially while we were watching ‘other people’ getting on and off the boats …. Very entertaining 🤣🤣🤣 The setting, the weather, the river, the people everything came together that day and it as fabulous. It goes without saying but, if you’re in Knaresborough you have to try the boats or at least get a coffee and watch other people ( like us) and have a laugh or just kick back and enjoy the moment.

Unassuming and hidden behind a Tesco and a curry house, you only know its there if you have been. But once you have been you don't forget it, a small theatre of 130ish seats puts on regular comedy nights, local events and other forms of entertainment like tribute bands and shows. The local pantomime by the Knaresborough players is always a good laugh to see in January. The staff are committed, hardworking and always helpful, and while I'm sure it's tempting to sneak in your own booze for the performance, buying from the small but well stocked bar in the foyer shows your support for a venue that would be missed if lost. A great selection of ice creams with multiple choices for toppings. Fancy looking milkshakes, hot chocolate and coffee. Daughter had sticky toffee pudding ice cream which was delightful and I had a simple americano which was hot and smooth and I really liked the biodegradable cups made from plant based products, no plastic! To come home and find that my feet are just as dry after the treatment as they were prior to the treatment and that the nail colouring has no shine to it after paying £67 is really really disappointing particularly as I would have expected a 5* treatment at that price and at a spa such as Rudding Park. I would always recommend the facilities, and the staff are lovely but would never ever have another treatment other than a massage again and would not recommend for anyone else either.

It is run for adults with disabilities of all sorts and consists of lovely workshops & nice teachers. Obviously the classes are private although the centre does run art courses for the public. The workshops make & sell crafts & jewellery & there’s the lovely sound of people making music on the site when you visit during the week. The entire site is beautiful and inspiring. There’s a cafe for hot & cold drinks & snacks which is open to the public, with inside & outside seating, there are gardens for the public to take a stroll in which includes a woodland walk with lovely sculptures & seats! The greenhouses grow & sell a wide variety of plants. Well worth a visit. It has a carpark & is close to bus stops just a few stops from K’boro bus station up the hill in town, it’s also within walking distance from the town centre (15 mins) and the route past St John’s Church is a quieter & prettier alternative to along the main road. It’s well worth looking at their website as they have a programme of events for the public. It’s a great place.

My Mum is obsessed with the pottery throw down and has been saying for ages how she’d love to have a go and using a potter’s wheel herself. I could not have hoped for anything better. Caroline was an absolute marvel, she was a pleasure to watch and learn from and so patient with our many (very basic) questions. It was such a relaxed atmosphere, I felt we had the freedom to be creative and learn independently without being left to fend for ourselves at any point. It was a really friendly place to just have a go, when I had been really nervous about it being an elitist or ‘experts only’ environment. Our pots were by no means masterpieces, but we were so proud of what we achieved. 10/10 I would recommend this to anyone and will definitely come again.

We bought a stone trough recently, Chris is a lovely bloke, VERY knowledgeable and accommodating. His stock is absolutely brilliant. His wife Chloe also has some of her art hanging which again is lovely, some pieces are large and commanding. Again, if you're near Knaresborough, make sure to call in, believe me, you'll regret missing it. Chris and Chloe both have Instagram profiles, you can view some of their stock on there but you can't beat seeing the pieces in situ. I'm summary, Chris is a smashing lad (we've not met Chloe but anyone associated with Chris has to be lovely), the shop and stock are breathtaking. Visit soon, you will not be disappointed. So, are you saying that was it your “external Health and Safety officer” that recommended you do a “private test group” without participants using any of the safety-wear listed by the HSE, etc.? If that’s what you’re claiming you should report them. There is no way that any professional health and safety expert would accept, condone, or support that nonsense whatsoever. The only “training purposes” your videos are suitable for is instruction on how Raku shouldn’t be done! If you have a comprehensive “risk-assessment”, code of safe practice, “liability insurance that actually covers the participants”, & the name of your “external Health and Safety officer” or their company then please do email me your evidence.
