We visited Hartsholme Country Park on a very wet, rainy day and were honestly surprised at how enjoyable it was. The tree coverage is fantastic, offering natural shelter that made walking around much more pleasant than expected. There’s plenty of free parking, and the park is really well laid out, with clear paths and maps throughout. There are loads of different walkways leading to and around the lakes, and the wildlife is amazing – we spotted birds, ducks, squirrels, and even a few dragonflies. The children’s play area looked modern and well-kept, perfect for families. One big plus is the free public toilets, which were spotlessly clean, and there are even showers on-site for campers – a really thoughtful touch for those staying longer. As for accessibility, I’d say it’s disabled friendly to a certain extent. The paths are mostly flat and either concreted or gravelled, though slightly bumpy in parts. Still manageable for wheelchairs or prams with some care. All in all, a fantastic spot to enjoy nature – rain or shine. We’ll definitely be back, hopefully on a sunnier day to explore even more!

This could be an amazing site with proper thought. The train noise is so loud the pitches are right next to it and it’s all day all night one night it was every 15 minutes you can see them flying passed like a plane coming in. I stayed for 7 nights and got basically no sleep. The shower blocks are good but they can be used by male and female and all the fishermen use them which is wrong they need separate ones for the fishermen. I wouldn’t feel safe with my kids using them on their own In fact I’m surprised it’s allowed. The locks are stupid everyone just keeps bursting in they need normal turn locks not metal spring back drilled in wood. The restaurant is good food nice enough but one night we thought we would go up for a drink to the young lad to say to us sorry we are shut they shut over an hour early. To top it off on our last night there was new people that came and played music until 12.30am shouting and swearing. I read the leaflet thinking I could call the warden but no number you need to walk and get it from reception. So if there’s a problem you need to walk in the pitch black for a number at reception. All parks should be manned there is no warden or anything so people do what they want. I paid a premium at £280 for a week and I need a weeks holiday to get over it which is a shame as I was so looking forward to it. There is so much land it would make much more sense putting the touring pitches in a field away from the trains with a separate shower block.

Can’t fault the place as a whole at all, toilets really clean and modern also. One last shout out to the chef keep doing what your doing your doing an amazing job, the breakfests were fantastic the eggs were absolutely perfect as was everything else & the lunch time food was extremely good aswell with the sandwiches & the evening food was extremely good too I had the bacon and cheese burger which was perfect. It is always a pleasant experience - a tranquill hidden gem with beautiful scenery. There is waterboarding which I hear is very expensive compared to other places. The coffees, beer and food are all very good. Again rather on the expensive side. The reason for this review however is to highlight that whenever we go there is usually an issue with the service. Yesterday my cousin booked a table for 3 and then rang back to add more people to the booking. The call took over ten minutes as the staff seemed to be getting confused over what was quite a simple request. Eventually he paid the £30 deposit and the table was booked. We ordered a starter for my cousins young daughter (x1) and four main meals all to come out at the same time. Sadly that did not happen. Sav ate most if not all of her soup on her own. Then two of the mains came out 10 minutes later. After a further ten to 15 minutes we enquired as to where the other two mains were. They came out 5 minutes later, by which time my wife and my cousins wife had all but finished their meals. Then the vegetables for all four meals came out. Meaning that once again the meals were all but cold and half eaten by the time the vegetables came out. We had to order the puddings right at the beginning, which at least gave ample time for those dishes to be accounted for and prepared. When we had finished out mains, after being there an hour or so, we were told that they had run out of ice cream, which I did mention was poor considering how early we had ordered them. Then they managed to somehow find some ice cream from somewhere. It really did seem like there was no organisation or communication between the kitchen and the front of house. I went up to pay and was ready to complain but was quite happy with the £94 bill. Luckily my cousin attended the till area with me and he had to point out that a £30 deposit had already been paid... So the waitress was going to be mistakenly overcharging me. In the end it cost me £64 but the service was absolutely shambolic, as such I will not be buying anything from the bar restaurant ever again. There should have been a partial refund, but for my cousin I was almost overpaying.
