The staff was friendly and attentive but the place was a little dead when we were there. The menu could have easily included vegetarian options but sadly did not. Yes, it can. And it does. US64 between Murphy and Franklin is one of my favorite motorcycle trips. I've ridden 64 numerous times over the years. But until March of 2025, I had never been to Fires Creek. It is absolutely spectacular. I have heard that it gets crowded in the summer. With the creek being shallow and relatively calm at the parking area, I imagine that it would be popular during warm weather. But this place is an absolute gem. The access is very easy and the (paved) drive back to the USFS area itself is very nice. Fires Creek is very large. The Rim Trail alone is 20+ miles in length. We walked the Leatherwood Branch Loop (not much over one mile, I don't believe). But it is lovely. Afterward, we drove back FR340 to a road splitting off to the left. I believe that it was 340B, but don't quote me on it. It's a fairly short dead-end, but it is spectacular. We explored for a bit on foot. I believe that it is Rockhouse Creek that flows through this area. Just beautiful. We can't wait to go back to see more of this special place. And there are no user fees.

The road in is not long and is hard-packed gravel. I rode my motorcycle in with no problem. There's plenty of parking and a couple paved, handicap spots, near the restrooms. There are ample picnic tables with grills on the lawn and park benches here and there for relaxing. If you're in a walking mood there is a woods trail along the waters edge that leads to the dam. It was a dirt road with swampy areas on the left, then the road ends at a neat little park. There were kaki boaters and a lone fisherman on the fishing pier. We stopped and walked the park to the fishing pier. The pier was low on the water and was built in 1992. I asked the gentleman if he caught any fish. He said do no not yet. After I asked if the lake or small pond area opened to a bigger body of water, he was not sure, but said there was a map up towards the covered pavilion.
