VIP tickets for the UB40 concert with Josh Tatofi and Katchafire as opening guest musicians.
Josh Tatofi and his crew were incredibly talented with several tunes of various genres! Such a beautiful voice and great musicians. I would definitely pay to see them perform again.
Katchafire came from New Zealand and were very disappointing. Every song sounded like the one before and it all seemed like a loud blur.
The biggest disappointment was UB40. We all waited 45 minutes for the band to set up, only to hear a loud blur of noise and echo. Not a single song was recognizable. We left early, as did our friends. We stayed through rain and instrument changes, paid $100 extra for each of us for VIP tickets, only for a dud of a concert. Not worth it and never again.
The venue is nice, lots of security, helpful staff and good food, although overpriced beverages.
Parking cost is atrocious. $25 in the MACC parking lot and $10 in every overflow parking lot. Money making opportunities for the MACC at every turn. A bit much.
2017:
We started out the year with Kris Kristofferson and a surprise guest performance by Willie Nelson and just enjoyed The California Honey Drops and Bonnie Raitt!! Beautiful Venue, well organized and perfect weather!

This venue is tried and true. Large enough for a crowd of 5000, this afternoon-to-evening fundraiser, for Maui fire victims delivered, for 3000- supporters, neighbors, and family members. I love this swap meet! I entered thinking it would either be a farmers market with produce, or a janky flea market like the one at Alina Stadium on Oahu.
Guess what… nether! It’s a cool little swap meet with mostly artisan goods. And the prices are reasonable! Note too much duplication both to both either.
You can also find good deals in souvenirs. Not a ton but enough.
Had great Shave Ice at a very good price at Maui Girls Shave Ice.
Oh and it’s a large parking lot so no need to stewed about finding parking.
I’m going here every time I hit up Maui from note on!

The Maui Swap Meet is a diverse, local focused collective offering many Hawaii centric gifts and goods that are great to look through. The variety is good with food, trinkets, and gifts for those back at home within arms reach. Some things are a bit overpriced but we understand that is due to small business needs, still unfortunate to see something you bought for $20 available at ABC for $10 a few days later.
We got a few gifts for our dog and others and some stuff for us and we were happy with the quality of them which is all you can really ask for in a market. The food options were also much better than expected. We would certainly recommend this as a go to for anyone looking to support local Maui businesses and for those looking to pick up gifts for those back at home.

We had such a great time exploring the Maui Swap Meet! It’s the perfect mix of everything — from beautiful handmade crafts and local art to fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, and island-made snacks. There’s also a fun assortment of imported items at great prices, so you can easily find souvenirs for everyone.

If you like plants, appreciate xeriscaping, are intrigued by ethnobotany, enjoy history and strolling through pretty places, this is a WONDERFUL way to pass an hour! You can deep dive and spend longer but 30-60 mins will give you good appreciation.
Plants featured have ethnobotanical significance rather than typical showy gardens. You can see plants from several islands, including endangered plants not possible elsewhere. Learn which plants provided dyes, material for clothing and sails, were used in hula, religious offerings, torch oil etc.
The audio tour was informative and the voices were pleasant. (If you've ever had audio tours with an annoying voice you know what I mean)
There were classes on traditional plant use the day we visited. Students were preparing and weaving ahu'awa cordage, hala mats and ipu (gourd) preparation. The place is run and maintained by volunteers. They sell propagated plants, but are distributing plants for free to anyone affected by recent fires. This alone makes your $10 entry fee worth it.
There is shade and many places to sit in case anyone in your party is slightly less interested in plants than you are. It's mostly flat in case you have any one with mobility issues.
Free parking in front of the gardens, though the signage is confusing.
My only suggestion for improvement, and this is because I see blank canvases everywhere:
The gardens are on the site on an old zoo and garden, so there are little cement buildings that used to house animal displays. They are pretty stark and bleak. They should have one of the many talented island artists mural the heck out of them. I'm thinking pollinators, birds, animals previously held there. Each little building could have a theme.
Overall I learned new things, got in some steps and had nice conversations with volunteers. #winning

Great place to visit to get familiar with native and introduced plants! I learned so much from the brochure as well as the accompanying app, which had detailed ethnobotanical info. The museum is small with informative displays depicting the history of the sugar can factory. There is no lines and not crowded. This is a curious gem of a museum. I adore looking at industrial machinery from before the era of computerization, and this place is a wonderland for that. There's a lovely green outdoor area with picnic benches and things like giant wheels and gears placed like statues around you.
Inside holds a mix of historical items, some more relevant than others, but it provides a great history lesson, not just about the process and challenges of sugar production, but also about the horrific exploitation of laborers and the interesting communities they formed. I had wondered about the source of water on Maui's dry side and found the answers at this museum.
There is a cute gift shop as well as a very clean restroom. The ladies at the front desk were friendly. You could spend anywhere from half an hour to a couple of hours here depending how much detail you want to absorb. It's a good place for both kids and adults I think.

Nine-year-old, 12-year-old, plus dad had a blast blast! Our guides, Nate, Owen, and Brandon did a great job. They were obviously very competent with the equipment and safety procedures and their banter with the zip liners and each other made the experience hilarious. They remembered the names of everyone in my family. So much to do here. The store is great, the café is delicious.
Plan on spending your entire morning here. Get there early to check out the market or do the tram tour of the plantation. Next, run the zip lines. Then have an awesome lunch in the café. Reservations for the zip lines and lunch made everything a breeze.

For our family of four and inexperienced zip liners- this was perfect! We have two younger kids (5 and 8) and they loved it! There is more than just zip lining here as well. It’s part of a plantation with a shop, other tour options, and a truly amazing restaurant that was worth the trip by itself. Plus the views zip lining and on the ground were spectacular. We lucked out with the time of year and we were able to get lots of one on one attention which definitely made it even more memorable for our kids. This was our second visit- first was two years ago. This was a great tour for seniors who may have somewhat limited mobility (cane). Our tour guide was great- lots of great information, funny jokes, and interesting personal stories. I wish the tour were just a few minutes longer because I am sure there were more interesting things to hear! We enjoyed the farm/gift shop and purchased several items there. The grounds were beautiful with lots of varied tropical plants, flowers, and trees as well as ponds and architectural details. Just a great place to spend a hot afternoon in the shade and breeze!

The 45-minute tour offers comfortable seating, though the walking area is limited. While a bit pricey, the huge shop makes up for it with a ton of gift, veggie, and fruit choices at good prices, and the staff are super friendly. Nate, Seth and Pono are incredible Zipline guides, because they each embody their own respectful characteristics. As a Team, they lead their tour with ease as they prepare you for each jump.
I got a crash course on learning how to become a monkey and their skill combined with hysterical spirit lifted my nerves on every jump. I didn’t think I was walking into a comedic experience, but I left the tropical plantation smiling.
The hospitality that I received from them wasn’t directly to me, but what caught my heart was seeing how they treat Mothers and children. Boys are not easy to raise; I don’t have one..I have a little girl and she’s cake 🎂 sweet and easy to make.

We decided to play "tourist" one Sunday afternoon which brought me and two of my buddies here. I've driven by it a million times but never stopped to observe, let alone learn its history.
THE GOOD 'OL DAYS:
The brackish water ponds of Kanaha are actually one of two (the other is called Mauoni) swampy marshlands that spanned from its current location all the way west to where Queen Kaahumanu Center is now. Ancient Hawaiians used portions of it for fish cultivation when ocean fishing was prohibited during the spawning season.
Most of the ponds naturally dried up or were filled in with debris dredged from Kahului Harbor back in the early 1900's. The (now defunct) Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar (HC&S) company donated the land to the US Navy. The pond was then deemed a wildlife sanctuary in the 1950's, and a registered natural landmark in 1971. It is home to Hawaiian Stilts & Coots, and other migratory birds that flock to its safe haven.
CURRENT DAY:
The sanctuary is now under State of Hawaii jurisdiction. Entry is free. A single pathway leads to a small covered lookout area that offers a 360-degree view of the ponds. Though there wasn't much to see in terms of fowl, learning about its history was priceless to me.
TIPS:
If you look around the Kahului Industrial Area, you'll still see manmade canals in between the developed areas that are filled with the same stagnant water seeping from underneath coral-filled Kahului that leads to the current wildlife sanctuary.
Be sure to close and latch the fence behind you!
OVERALL:
Portions of old Hawaii still can be experienced.

Stopped here to kill time before another event. As it is close to the Kahului Airport we drove by not sure what it was. We had to look it up. There's a gated pathway leading to an observation building. A small cement building with open views on all sides and a bench to sit on and stay shaded. It was super windy over the water, which felt nice and gave the birds something to play on. We saw fish burrowing in the mud in the shallow waters. Plus TONS of small fish swimming around and in schools. The Ae'o (Hawaiian stilt) were standing in the waters scooping the fish up. They were so cool. Then I turned around and a 'Auku'u (black crowned night heron) was just a few feet from me sitting on what appeared to be a nest. I didn't even see it land. Beautiful bird. Then it took flight and we watched it glide for a bit appearing to be hunting over the water before flying off. Last we saw 3 'Alae ke' oke'o (Hawaiian coot) gliding and landing in the shallow waters. They even landed lining up like ducks in a row before taking off again. So cool watching them fly around. It was so peaceful and we were glad we stopped to check it out. I would recommend bringing binoculars and wearing a hat to shade your eyes for better viewing of the animals. Only wish there were more areas to visit, but understand that's it's a preserve meant to be undisturbed. Sorry, I only took video of the 3 coots.

As expected, this is a small island airport, but it still has all the stores and services you need to make it a great starting point for your Maui adventures.
Like many others have mentioned, it features an excellent tram service that takes you directly to the rental car facilities.
We left our rental car in the public parking lot for one day while we visited the Big Island and ended up paying a steep $36 the next day.
Another helpful tip is that there’s a Walmart just a 5-minute drive from the airport, perfect for stocking up on water, juices, fruits, snacks, and sweets to make your road trips around the island even more enjoyable, such as the Road to Hana.
What really set this airport apart compared to others was the outstanding service we received from Monica at United Airlines, along with a very friendly senior security officer on the day of our departure.

State park with some short, easy walking paths. Made a reservation online in advance; note that they don’t accept the National Park pass since it’s a state park. Reservations are required and you pay for parking at that point as well. It’s a beautiful park and the hike up to see the Needle is short, albeit a tad steep. Be careful on the stairs coming down, as my boyfriend twisted his ankle while coming down. We went at 9am to try to beat the cloud cover and other tour buses coming in. I’d recommend accounting for 2 hours here, though you can certainly spend more time if you’re looking to meditate or explore deeply.

This state park is breathtakingly beautiful and packed with history. The parking situation is good and leaves you steps from the main trails that allow you to see both The Needle and water flowing down the valley. Staring up at the mountains above you and down the valley is a spectacular view full of photo opportunities. The Needle towers as a standout spot along the trail and the Botanical Trail takes you through a pretty area with native plants that allow you to feel like you’re in a surreal setting. Be warned: the trails are very short so don’t expect a real hike or to be there for too long, but do expect a luscious and photogenic activity.

Lovely park! We spent about an hour there. There are three short walking trails with beautiful views.
The first one takes you uphill to get a great photo with the Needle.
The second leads you closer to the water — for a moment, you really feel like you’re in a jungle.
The third is a small walk past some man-made pools with plants.
It was sunny at the beach, but when we arrived at the valley, it turned a bit chilly and rainy. So bringing a jacket and pants is a good idea, depending on the weather.
We didn’t see any stores there, and the main restroom was closed, though there were a couple of portable toilets in the parking lot.
We used Uber to get there and back.
Overall, it’s a great spot for a quick jungle walk!

Easy to get to. Not very amazing compared to all the stuff to see in this island. But it’s ok.
Pro tip: Buy entry and parking online beforehand. But what the web doesn’t tel you is you can park for free; you just have to walk about 5 minutes more. Up a little hill though. So depends how energetic you feel.
It’s a very, very short little walk through this park up a path to get to the view of the needle. Paved. Some short stairs. No problem. And then that’s the main attraction. Plus you get a view of the park below.
There are a few more small paths but it’s really quite small. I think they call it a botanical garden, unless there’s another one that I missed.
This was a 30 minute visit for us.

Myself and my Partner visited the Iao Valley States park in May 2024 whilst we stayed in Maui. We cannot recommend this place enough photos just do not do it justice, you need to see it the flesh. The needle like peek looks amazing in the flesh and it's just a short walk from the parking lot. There is lots of little trails along the river with lots of little water falls and plenty plants and wildlife to marvel at. There is plenty of parking, restrooms and tables to eat snaks, i don't think there is a souvenir shop. Even the journey in was beautiful, the view back out the valley. Visited here as part of a tour so we didn't get long to explore, would have loved to have spent longer so we could do more of the trails. You pull up onto a beautifully maintained ranch and ride up around through many fields where their long horned cattle graze. You get views of the ocean as well as the incredible ridged mountains. John was our trail guide and I appreciated how straightforward and no nonsense he was. It’s not your typical flashy tourist trap place. If you’re here to ride and love horses, that’s what you’ll get. The trail horses were well mannered and paired according to skill level. Overall our experience was fantastic and would come back again.

I was really surprised to find a hands-on experience being offered and was so excited! I wanted a horse ride in Maui that was more hands-on and intimate, not where one horse just follows the other, so I chose the Ranch ride. The ranch is beautiful, and you can tell the horses are well taken care of. I used to ride when I was younger, but hadn't in 20 years, and managed to forget a lot of what I was taught back then. Yod had me lead my horse to the arena where he showed me the basics of riding again. He's an excellent instructor and super patient. He's funny, and passionate about connecting with the horse, and about proper, safe riding. After the basics, we went on the trail to see some of the most gorgeous views from the side of the mountain. It was so cool to be one on one with the horse and your own trainer/guide. It reminded me how much I miss riding and being around horses. I highly recommend this experience to not only those with experience, but even without. You'll love being able to be involved with the horses and have such a nice guide to show you the trail

My wife and I went horseback riding at Makani Olu Ranch and had a great time. Neither of us had done a lot of horseback riding previously, so we got the beginner experience. The horses we rode (Okie and Clyde) were very nice and easy to handle, but not so overly docile that they just walked the trail no matter what we did ourselves. Yod and Jackie (our guides) gave us some basic instruction before we went and taught us the basics of holding the reins and directing the horses. They made sure that everything went smoothly. We would definitely go back again and highly recommend to our friends.

We really, really wanted to love this because we have watched Chef Sheldon on Top chef and he was so genuine and amazing. Our experience however was not great. We did order closer to closing, which may have impacted the experience, but the food quality was sub par. First, they forgot two of our add ones, egg and spam in one dish. Next, we had four dishes and 1 desert, with only one of the dishes being really great (Mochiko Chicken - Highly recommended!). The spicy chicken sandwich was good enough, but the bun seemed stale and the chicken was a little on the chewy side without any real juiciness. The chopped steak had really good flavor, but had quite a lot of fat on most of the pieces that had to be cut out. The Poke bowl was good, but didn't really stand out in any way from any other poke spot. The desert, Chocolate Birthday Babingka was actually fantastic with great textures and great flavor.
Hopefully, this was a one off experience because the reviews here are generally off the charts and he seems like such an incredible person. When we return to Maui next year we will try again and hope for the best.

Stopped by Tin Roof and honestly left a little disappointed. The chicken had decent seasoning on top, but the sauce was not it, really heavy and the kind of flavor you get sick of very quickly. The rice was fine, but overall the bowl just didn’t come together the way I expected.
Also, there’s no actual seating area or inside space. You order at the window outside, grab your food, and that’s about it. Not very comfortable if you were planning to sit and eat there.
I’d heard about this place since it’s run by Sheldon, the chef from Top Chef, which made me curious to try it. But honestly, the food didn’t live up to the hype.

We were starving from our 6 hour flight. Thought we would try this place before driving another 45 minutes to our hotel. We got the garlic shrimp, small garlic noodles and the fish sandwich. The fish sandwich was cold and hard. Also found a hair in it so they remade it for me. Hoping I would’ve gotten a hotter sandwich since they are making a new one. Sadly the 2nd one was even more cold and hard compared to the first. I didn’t think the garlic noodles or the garlic shrimp was good either. Extremely disappointing. It's a pretty nice place for its age. All the seats seem to have a great view of the stage. It's not a huge theater so you get an intimate feeling.

We had a great time. Well taken care of theatre with a rich history. We went and saw "Rumors" in September of 2018. Production was very well done and the whole experience was very lovely. Tasty snacks and water were available. The set was amazing and as a fellow technician it's all I looked at before the show started. I've passed by this place numerous times but never had a reason to stop by until recently. I saw a poster for an exhibit they were having entitled "Internment: Stories from Maui". I immediately thought that my mom would like to see it and she agreed.
THE CENTER:
Opening in 1991 on two acres donated from Alexander & Baldwin, the Sons & Daughters of the 442 was spearheaded by Leonard Oka, the son of 442 veteran Clarence Oka. The mission was to honor the Nisei Veterans of WWII with memorabilia, artifacts and its history. Currently, the facility consists of a museum, education center, offices, conference room and is also home to the Maui Adult Day Care and Kansha Preschool, both of which are open to the public.
INTERNMENT EXHIBIT:
The simple exhibit was showcased in the complex's Education Center. The majority of the displays were poster boards with info on some families and individuals who endured internment on Maui. Other pieces included photo copies of handwritten letters, log books, a few photos and a looping video that I didn't watch. I can only stand and read info for a hair until I get bored and antsy, so I took pics of each display (and posted to this page) so I could read in the comforts of home. Overall it was a nice effort as I'm sure gathering stories, photos and artifacts in this day and age would be next to impossible due to the timeline.
OTHER FACILITIES:
I wasn't able to poke around the place as it was a rainy day. If I ever do, I will update this section.
OVERALL:
A great facility for the community and way to honor our beloved veterans.

Came into this harbor via cruise ship, not much are within or around the area except for a mall, a few shops, eateries etc.
It's in an industrial area, so I needed to travel further to see what else Maui had to offer, was hoping to take a tour in Lahaina, but because of the great fire most things was basically canceled.
I did made the best of the stop here nonetheless with some shopping mostly at whole foods, nice and affordable souvenir shops, and a must at Baskin robbins...hope to visit again someday independently.

We loved our experience with Air Maui! We chose to do the West Maui/Molokai Tour with an oceanfront landing and it was one of the highlights of our trip.
The landing area was such a beautiful and private spot on the west side of the island, and offered wonderful views of the ocean and coastline. Our pilot was also spectacular and was sure to each give passengers on either side of the aircraft a great view of the waterfalls/cliffs we were flying past. Additionally, we found the tour to be very informative and interesting and we learned a lot about the islands. All of the staff were organized and helpful, making us feel completely safe the entire time.
Overall, we think that this tour is one of the best ways to experience the islands. Being able to see views and landscapes that you could not see without flying is truly worth every penny and is such a memorable experience, and we’ll absolutely be back to do another tour for our next trip!

My husband said that is in his top life experiences - we had that good of a time! We have always thought about doing a helicopter tour and figured no better place than Hawaii, and it was amazing. We did the 60 minute tour of west Maui and Molokai. Decided not to do the 75 minute as the extra time was spent on the ground and wanted all the time in the air. We also paid to sit up front, which was well worth it. Our pilot (I think it was Vince??) was great, pointing out things like rays in the water, the history of the land, and continually checking to make sure everyone was doing well. Taking a helicopter tour has been on my bucket list forever, and my wife and I finally decided to make it happen with Air Maui — and wow, it exceeded every expectation! We booked last minute and were able to go the very next day. My wife was a little nervous at first but ended up loving it just as much as I did. My husband loves aviation and he has always wanted to be in a helicopter and so for our 10 year anniversary, I was brave enough to agree to go on this helicopter tour. Mind you, I am afraid of any type of rollercoaster. It was such a a wonderful experience. Captain Kirk was an amazing story teller and you can tell he loves Hawaii and it's people. We are so happy we got to do this in our last day before heading back home to California. We are so thankful we were able to see parts of Hawaii that is so beautiful and special. Everyone at Air Maui were so respectful and made everyone feel comfortable. We would recommend this to others that may be too afraid to get into a helicopter. This was such a smooth ride and it is better than riding in a smaller plane.

Very beautiful space with a calm, relaxing environment to visit some cats. The staff were all so lovely, kind, and friendly; they were happy to tell us a bit about each cat, and how to interact with each of them. They also have a super cute selection of cat related gifts/trinkets. We really enjoyed our visit to the Maui Cat Cafe, and it was clear that the kitties were very well taken care of and happy! My two young boys (ages 2 and 5) had an unforgettable time at this cat café. Despite a tsunami warning that caused most businesses to close and staff to leave, one incredibly kind and gracious lady stayed behind to honor our appointment. Her warmth was evident from the moment we arrived—we were even checked in early so the kids could start playing right away.
The check-in process was quick and easy, and we were immediately welcomed by a group of friendly, playful cats. There was a great selection of toys and brushes available, and it was actually my boys’ first time interacting with cats. After our session, the same kind host took the time to share tips on how to safely navigate the island given the road closures and our hotel being far away. Her thoughtfulness went above and beyond.

It is a wilde style beach & kitesurfing spot, so dont expect any infrastructure here. There is only a long fabulous beach line, some rocks closer to the city and lots of huge turtles 🐢 in the water when you kitesurf, which is fantastic.
Along the beach there are palms 🌴, so you can hide your equipment & yourself from the sun.
There are two parking lots: one is with asphalt for about 20 cars and another one closer to the city is quite spontaneous one along the road that leads to the beach and its totally sandy, under the trees in some parts, for about 10 cars.
There is a lifeguard house on the beach, but i never saw anybody there 🤔
No currents here and no sharks, so no extra risque to stay in the waters.
The windsurfers normally ride on the right side of the beach and farer from the land line, kitesurfers - on the left side, closer to the beach and the city.

Our recent visit to Kahului Harbor aboard the Carnival Radiance was a mostly positive experience. The port staff were super efficient and pleasant, making both disembarkation and embarkation smooth and hassle-free. Their professionalism definitely helped set the tone for a great day in Maui.
However, exiting the port on foot was quite confusing, and the walk to the designated Uber/Lyft pickup area at an off-site shopping plaza was long and inconvenient. This setup is definitely not ideal for those with medical conditions or mobility issues, as there are no clear or easy alternatives.

This beautiful park has a great perimeter trail, a playground, tennis courts with lights, and an awesome disc golf course. There are two multi use fields and bathrooms on the north side. There is also a community center building that can be reserved for functions like birthdays or graduation parties. I went her for the disc golf course. The first 4 holes were easy to navigate, but then it got hard. I was able to figure out the next 4 holes by using an app where people post pictures of the tee, and baskets. Not all tees have a marker, or pad. Most have a piece of carpet as a tee, which works if you can find it.
I ended up walking the next few hole to see if I could figure it out for a potential next visit. As I was walking to my car a guy asked how I liked the course, and if I found my way. I told him my experience, and then we hung out for 30 minutes just chatting about life. He was a cool dude, which is why I have it 3 stars instead of 2. First time coming to Maui and my sister brought us to this place after the plane ride for brunch. We came right before the lunch rush and all seats were filled. We asked if one portion was too much for a person and the server said it depends on how much you eat! :). Bring your appetite as the portions were huge for us. I ordered the Notorious B.I.G. Moco. It had rice on the bottom, with a beef patty, egg, bacon and spam to top it off. Take a look at the menu for the exact ingredients and you can check the photo for yourself! Our party of 15 was seated right away and the servers were very friendly and helpful. Definitely come here if you are hungry. One final note which I was not familiar with coming from Canada. I asked if this place was licensed (or serve alcohol) but the server responded that this was BYOB (Bring Your Own Beer).

There are 2 rock walls that have some smaller fish once you get a little further out
Paddle boarders with sails also take off from this area. Seems very calm for elders to navigate the water with ease.
Pretty shells and even a penny that was water bound for awhile was found on shore.
Please bring a bag to remove walked in plastic as well as some shore debris. Let us leave it better for our children that we found it

While this is a public park, it may not seem like it on the façade due to two permanent structures occupying the land and inventory of canoes laying all over the place. I'm not sure how or why a canoe club ended up here but it is what it is!
THE PARK:
Hoaloha Park is about two acres in size, with a sandy beach and very protected waters as it sits in a bay shielded by Kahului Harbor and a manmade peninsula. Grassy areas are expansive and stretch from the Maui Seaside Hotel border on the west end to the former Chart House and Hideaway Restaurant (still vacant building) to the east. While there are facilities such as restrooms, it's not available to the public as they're inside of the canoe club's buildings. Being literally next to Kahului Harbor, I wouldn't suggest swimming here as the amount of ship traffic simply pollutes the waters. Come canoe season, they sometimes hold regatta races here and the area gets infested with people and cars.
There are however, some positives to this beach especially on the west end near the hotels where you can perch with a great view of the cruise ships coming in and out of port on certain days. And, because the beach isn't "beach-worthy" especially in the eyes of tourists, it's always empty! There aren't any sunset or neighbor island views, but that's the trade-off. I've been known to crack open a few and participate in the ship-watching activity myself, lol. It's a quiet place too as the highways are set back a nice distance. While there are nicer beaches on Maui, how often can you have one all to yourself?
OVERALL:
You're not missing out on much. Find another park. LOL.

A convenient spot close to home. I often walk the dogs here, to run, swim and sugarcoat themselves with sand. It's great that they have a few showers and spigots to hose them down after. It does not get too crowded here but often a few fishermen, wind surfers, and paddlers come through when the elements are just right. However, if you walk towards Maui beach hotel it's often empty and prime for some relaxation.

I pretty much only wear Blue Ginger tops daily. The rayon voile is one of the few fabrics that keep me cool in the Kahului heat. Store personnel are all lovely people. The only thing is the store is always quite warm that I want to get in and out as quickly as possible. I noticed the same warm temperature at the Wailea store as well. I also wish that my favorite top style (Bay top/blouse) would be brought back or other top styles be added as not all current rotating styles work for my body type. Although the new and beautiful prints keep me coming back!
