There are seven trails located here. Most a little under a mile, but if you do as we did and do all of them you’re definitely getting your workout in. There are benches throughout and plenty of shade. Definitely bring your water though because it’s already over 90. Hassayampa is home to over 280 species of birds living, nesting or migrating through the area. I wish we would’ve seen one of the many hawks who frequent there, but unfortunately didn’t today. The height of some of the trees and such were crazy. The Cottonwood Trees made it look like it was snowing on some parts of the trails with their cotton like seed/fluff and the Willows were awesome too. We spent hours here. There are spots to sit, listen and enjoy the scenery of the Hassayampa River. Fun fact the 100 or so miles the river flows are mostly underground and can only be seen here where it flows freely. One other thing I really enjoyed was the old payphone strategically placed near one of the trails closer to the water. They called it a wind phone. If you don’t know what that is it’s a disconnected phone often placed in a nature setting where you can “call” a deceased loved one offering a way to help with grief and remembrance. A concept that originated in Japan. What a great way to maybe let out things that were left unsaid. Anyhow this 770 acre preserve is definitely worth checking out. If you have a maricopa county park pass it gets you in with no fee.

If your going to book with them your going to have to make sure your appointment still stands up to the last hour because they won't confirm ,but will take your money write away.. Horsing Around Adventures were able to accommodate us last minute and they still had enough horses! Great experience with Horsing Around in Sedona , there meeting location is at this cute little winery, where you can enjoy a glass after your ride, for the last evening ride though you may not make it ,they close at 6pm .

They have accessible paths that allow you to meander through the buildings, and a handful of the buildings have accessible ramps (not all of them though). There's restrooms at the front and back too. There were lots to see in each building, and what's nice is you can walk through the rooms and get up and close with the historical stuff. So many interesting relics. You get a great view of he mountains while driving on the Vulture Mine Road- which itself is a very scenic drive that winds through the mountains; there are safety signs to tell you when to slow down. No signal in certain spots and there are no gas stations close by- so make sure to have your GPS started before this area and also have your gas filled. You can explore more of these mountains by parking in the Vulture Mountain Recreations Area, or I did also see some other spots along Vulture Mine Road for parking. So far though, the trails and parking and amenities are not fully developed- not sure if this is something that is in the works...

We rented the 4 passenger UTV and brought along our 8 year old. Everything was seamless from start to finish. Once we made it to the lake, we took in the views and then cruised back with no hiccups. Huge thanks to Aiden for being so kind, helpful, and straightforward in explaining how everything would work. Dog spigot on same water fountain for humans but on side close to ground, next to tennis courts. Shady Pavillion with metal picnic tables great place to rest dog & humans in summer. Maintenance does excellent job keeping park clean even after kid party...access to broom would help guest who hold parties at pavillion. Moving to Tucson will miss this place alot....also has public pool open now.....and big trees around the edge of grassy area and by public tennis court and skateboard park, lots of parking too.
