But it’s treated more as an after thought, although it’s only a small sized museum in all fairness. The strength of this museum located by a lock is the fascinating info and visuals with how big cargo ships pass through locks from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario. You will learn a lot and might even have the chance to see a ship passing through. Gift shop is small and also has a tiny area dedicated to black presence. Disappointing from that aspect, but well worth it to learn about something new. There is a paved walking trail along the property.

Our server and a manager made an effort to ask how everything was, they encouraged the feedback but unfortunately we didn't have many pleasant things to note. Used to enjoy it a lot as it really focused on the Scottish heritage. A lot still does like the bagpipes and drums, Scottish dancing and the Games. It was exciting with athletic & dance competitions all weekend. We camped on the grounds so were totally immersed in the experience. I learned a lot about Scotish people too! All the ones I met (there were thousands there) were universally happy, pleasant, cheerfully willing to share knowledge about their heritage and they are absolutely CRAZY. For example; They have competitions with what looks like antique gym equipment, rocks & other random things. For instance they toss telephone poles around, sledge hammers, heavy lead balls & hay bales with pitchforks too. Men wear manly shoes, hats, shirts & vests but also multi-coloured skirts, called kilts. Don't let them hear you call them skirts as it's not appreciated at all and they do have a feisty side. The bag pipes started playing at 8 am & ended at 9 pm then the pub bands played until 2 am (not sure about the timing as I went to bed) & they partied til 3:30 am. One band had a wonderful sound with big loud drums, pipes & a didgeridoo (?????). Very weird but also amazing. The food concessions I tried were excellent, I really liked the blacksmiths & the historical reenactments but my favourite event was the massed bands. All those pipers & drummers marching & playing with perfect precision literally brought tears of joy to my eyes. There was a lot more happening that we just didn't get to enjoy simply because there is so much to see. We're definitely going back & I highly recommend this festival as great family entertainment.

Not that the price here was low, we paid $350 a night on a weekend in November. For that price, we should have had a luxury stay. And it was close, but definitely missed the mark in several ways. We were greeted with a glass of prosecco each, which we then awkwardly carried through the hotel, outside, across the parking lot to our room. We stayed in the McCatty room, described online as a King luxury suite, which is not part of the main hotel, but is in the Carriage House at the back. There were two chocolates, which was nice, but not good chocolate, I think they were from the Bulk Barn? The temperature was set to 19C when we arrived, it did warm up fairly quick though. The room was large, and the bed was comfy. The balcony would be nice in the summer. Netflix was supposed to be available, but would not load, we were able to access the tv stations though. The wifi was sufficient to watch videos on my phone. Some updating in the room is definitely needed. The whirlpool tub being in the main room is one example of this, but we were expecting this from the pictures in the website. What we were not expecting was that the tub would be dripping. (See video). It was very loud and didn’t make for peaceful sleep. When we told the front desk about it, she said “oh yes, we know, we are working on it”. It was still dripping when we left. Some other overdue maintenance issues were evident, like the hairdryer that only worked on low, the damaged drywall in both the bathroom and behind the shaving mirror (whose batteries were dead), spiderwebs in the corners, stains on the towels. See photos. Breakfast was fine, after I brushed the crumbs off the table and ignored the sticky spot. I had the panini one day and the pancakes the next. The pancakes were very nice, with a delicious berry compote. I did not have the syrup they brought there was a film across the top and it was table syrup, not maple syrup. My husband had the Breadalbane breakfast, recommended by the server. The bacon and toast was good. The hashbrowns looked/tasted like the commercial frozen type, the egg bites were what you find on a chain buffet. It was good enough to have both mornings. The tea was so close! There was a selection of teas, and china teapots. But then they filled the teapot with hot (not boiling) water and brought it to the table with a cup and a teabag. The second morning we asked for it to be made in the pot, which was better. All in all, not a terrible stay, but not what we were expecting. None of these things by themselves are a big deal, but for a place that bills itself as luxury, and charges accordingly, it all added up to a disappointing stay. This place is the closest thing to a Michelin Star restaurant in this region of Ontario. I got the Sweet Corn Soup appetizer and the BC Halibut as the entree and of course they were both phenomenal. Within a couple hours my partner and I were rappelling and zipping like experts! And I absolutely cannot overstate how much fun it is to Zipline into the middle of a gorge, drop a rope down, and then rappel down from the zipline. We had crowds of people watching us from above and below! Also, our instructor was the owner and founder of the company, and he is not just some dude - he is a world-class rigger and stunt coordinator whose work has contributed to world records and was on he cover of National Geographic. He was also super friendly! All in all it was a fantastic day and I cannot recommend this enough!

I called them back over, where they basically treated me like I was a liar, explaining how the game works (needing 3 tiki's to trigger the bonus) I said, yes, I've played this game many times, I know how the bonus works, and we were already IN the bonus with 18 free spins that never started. We even had an older gentlemen next to us who thankfully was still there and vouched for us that it indeed died at the start of a bonus. They then reluctantly gave us $25 free play (which was likely a fraction of what we would of gotten for the bonus seeing we were on a higher bet) We fluffed it off and continued playing where nothing hit again. All of the guides were great. The guides gave us great run downs on what to expect for each of the 5 courses, useful tips and tricks to navigate the hardest obstacles, checked in with us after every course to get our experience. With a ticket you get three hours of access to the courses. For me it was enough time to complete all the courses and had allowance for me to take several breaks between them. I would suggest bringing gloves with good grip if you have them, and a bottle for water. Drinks were available on site if you're like me and forgot yours at home!

No bugs, no overheating from the sun, simply stunning gorgeous autumn forest canopy views, and the little pitter patter of rain makes the leaves even more beautiful! Because the courses run through the forest canopy, you barely feel the light rain (as it happened to be raining during our 3 hour trek). We opted for the gloves--I highly recommend that option. Make sure you use the port-a-potties BEFORE you do the course!!! The staff was awesome: LOTU, Branch and the lady at the front ... all great support on this fun forest adventure. Note: If you are just a week away, the day you want might not be available. We originally wanted a different day but every other day this week was unavailable... We had two age groups with us, so there was an adult with one doing the Discovery Course, and I took the older youth on the Aerial course. Our instructor Cupid did an amazing intro for us, and Frank was THE BEST guide out in the forest. The kids were able to get through 4 of the courses (with the exception of 5 only because of age). The games were really cool and had a good variety and level of challenge for them. They loved the ziplines too. Frank was there to offer guidance with the equipment and support when they needed it. For the Discovery course, our youngest had a blast! They taught them how to link up with the equipment and the basics of safety. They loved the course and had no problem with heights, which was great because they actually have a fear of it. All fun and games, so lots of excitement. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff from start to finish, so thanks for a great day everyone! If you bring lunch there were lots of areas to sit together and hang out. Parking lot not far. There were also drinks and snacks at the main check-in for sale. Lots of nature around too even as we enter the last month of Fall. I can't wait to come back with my partner for a date day next year. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves the outdoors and who's interested in challenging themselves.
