Then we heard the announcement that there will be a guided tour at 11am so we just joined. The staff did an excellent job showing us around the exterior and the Scottish museum as well. We got to learn the design ideas and some of the behind the scene stories while it came to build the building. We had a great time. I think the staff is called Isabella or Elizabeth, sorry my bad with the names but she was excellent and very informative. It is a must visit place if you like design and architecture. I hope they will get more collections and exhibitions to fill in the space in the future.

The highlight is definitely the views up and down the Tay from the elevated vantage point of the castle grounds. It's a fortified castle rather than a family pile so don't expect grand dining rooms or anything like that but still well worth a visit. Stars are narrow and steep so be prepared and there's no other way up or down. It's an old castle and that's just how it was built. I've added a pic of the stairs to let you see. I visited on a weekday during school holidays and while the castle wasn't busy Broughty Ferry is a bit of a destination for tourists and people coming out of the city to enjoy it beach so parking is limited when it's sunny. I parked a couple of streets away which due to the way the Ferry is layed out was only a couple of minutes of a walk to get to the castle. Oh and it's free!

The restaurant itself is very small which gives it quite an intimate feel. The building inside and out is decorated with interesting art work. The menu is kept relatively small focused around kebabs which keeps the food quality really high. We were served very quickly by the friendly waitresses. I had the Karisik kebab which is made up of donner, pillic, pirzola and kofte. My girlfriend had the pillic. All of the meat was incredible. Very well seasoned and absolutely delicious. The rice is also outstanding, the best rice I’ve ever tasted. Portions are massive too which make it good value for money, neither of us could actually finish our meal. The waitress did say they would also accommodate smaller meals (e.g. 1 kebab rather than two). My only minor criticism, and it’s probably more of a preference thing, is that the chilli sauce seems to have some yoghurt running through it it. Given a yoghurt sauce is also served, I would have preferred to just have a pure chilli sauce.

The entire process was very easy & the staff on site were great. We had a roll delivery come earlier than expected and they took it in for us and called to say it had arrived.
