My husband and I wanted to bring the kids here for the first time. The bad news is there was an art fair and no parking only $20 parking. That did not kill our vibe. Tickets are $16 a person and under 2 is free. We purchased the tickets and we parked our stroller. The kids walked up the stairs and went into this water room. My son loved it so much. He was squealing and running around. My daughter loved played with the balls and throwing them in the water. Once we were done with this floor, we decided to go up the stairs. We were shocked to see a massive preschool room suitable for ages 4 and under. They have tons of toys for the kids. They had another water station. My kids were dry at first. However, a little boy sprayed water at my son and soaked him as his mom watched and said nothing. This didnt make our experience bad because luckily we had a change of clothes. I only say this to warn you to bring a change of clothes just in case they get wet. We didn't really go to the third floor. My husband said it was more for older kids when he went to check. The kids were having too much fun inside the playroom. We will definitely be back and hopefully not on a day where an event is taking place.

Museum is 5 stars, amazing and free. Planetarium is 1 star due to wrong show, horrible customer service, grainy quality, although entertaining. When I put them together, 3 stars.

The museum is conveniently located adjacent to downtown and some of the large hotels, so you can easily stay and walk to the museum and other downtown locations. We arrived shortly after opening and were able to get our tickets and start exploring the museum. The flow of the museum is in chronological order of his life starting with his youth, growing up in Grand Rapids. There is quite a lot of information on his time in the Boy Scouts of America and how important this was in establishing his values and leadership abilities. There is a great section about his involvement in football at both high school and college and then his years serving in the military. We then start learning about his down-to-earth, approachable style of leadership while growing in politics locally at the state level and then in congress. The information about his time as Vice President and how he became President as a result of Watergate and Nixon resigning was interesting and informative. It was interesting to learn more about some of the policies that Ford enacted and how he worked to build trust back into the office of the President. I was not familiar with how many tough decisions he had to make that were not necessarily the popular decision, but that provided a stronger foundation for our country's future. The mock-up of the oval office and cabinet room are always favorites in the Presidential Libraries and these were well done. I found the exhibit about his passing and the funeral very touching. It would have been very interesting to see what Ford could have done if he were not working under the shadow of the Nixon resignation. I left feeling that he was a good leader and a strong President. I am glad we visited the museum.

Yesterday, we visited The African American Cultural and Historical Museum of Washtenaw County (AACHM). My husband found it and what a gem it is! They are currently showcasing art by sophomores in a local high school (Huron HS). Their project was to showcase African American history and they did it through art themes of Unity, Peace amidst Chaos, Community, Adversity, Music, Adinkra symbols, Struggle, and Honor. I was amazed at their artistic skills and depth of interpretation of their feelings. The most exciting part is this Museum offers a tour of part of the Ann Arbor Underground Railroad Sites and Black History! We can’t wait to do this! I love and am always so encouraged to see the resilience African Americans have shown in calamity and the hope they showcase that can only be found in God’s strength. We delayed the wedding by a year, from spring 2021 to spring 2022, and Cobblestone was very accommodating of our new date. We came to Zingerman's for breakfast on the morning of a car show. We had heard nothing but good things about Zingerman's and I have had their pastries from a to-go event before. Dined in for breakfast on a Monday morning so it wasn't busy. In fairness, we happened to be there the day Amazon Web Services was down and I understand this caused some chaos behind the scenes since the kitchen staff couldn't rely on their normal systems. Between us and our friends we ordered a chicken rice bowl, loaded plantains, a couple of different fritas (burgers) which come with fries on top but you can ask for them on the side, and several batidos (milkshakes): coconut, chocolate español, and a vanilla batido. All were delicious! I particularly liked the tropical slaw as an add on to the frita and the chile mayo. Everything has a kick to it so if spice isn’t your thing maybe ask for some alternatives. If you love spice this is your spot! I also like that the batidos weren’t too sweet and everything was fresh. There was plenty of space to sit, it was very clean and even though they were very busy for a Saturday at 3pm service was prompt and efficient even as we sat outside. Also street parking was easy to find and you do have to pay for parking on an app. For 4 people sharing a few food items and 3 batidos we spent around $50 (not including all items mentioned as some were items ordered by our friends) which was definitely worth it. 🫶 We don’t eat a lot and felt it was worth sharing food but sizes are not massive. The playground we went to is primarily for under age 8, seeing as the merry go round is incredibly slow, short slides, smaller play areas, and no swings, which is what my son was wanting the most. Then we relocated to another area on the Huron River, where they have rentals (will post prices in the pictures) and paddle boats are only 15 an hour which I thought was an incredible price, but we didn't go seeing as we didn't have enough time. They were so accommodating, super helpful in the planning process and a joy to work with. I was struggling to find something unique for my daughter's 9th birthday and they delivered! The girls got to paint ceramic "cookie mugs", jam out to music and giggle their little butts off. The space is incredible, there is plenty of room and you can bring whatever you need. There is an elevator to help move your stuff and the staff even helped carry everything to and from the car. I was nervous having a gaggle of kids in this (incredible awesome working art studio) space but the teachers were so great and some of the local artists peeked in to see what we were working on. You can feel the community vibes here. Now I want to go back with the adults and do some grown up art! Make sure you prepare to park behind the studio or find a space on the street. It goes without saying since its downtown Ann Arbor but the location enabled some of the parents to grab delicious local food after so it was worth it. Honestly the price is worth it for the whole experience and I definitely recommend!!!
