The Alcatraz East Crime Museum was absolutely fascinating! The exhibits are well organized and full of interesting facts about American crime history, from famous cases to forensic science. There’s a great mix of interactive displays, real artifacts, and educational information that keeps you engaged the entire time. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere made learning about history both fun and thought-provoking. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Pigeon Forge — it’s a must-see attraction!

We had a wonderful time. There is not much for kids to do, so I would not plan to take kids. They will probably be bored. There also is not much room for strollers or for kids to run around and play. I would not pay extra for the audio tour. There wasn't really much to it. There are so many people and so much going on, remembering to play audio was another step to remember. There is a lot of reading. If you plan to read and take it all in, I would plan to be there all day. The staff wasn't friendly at all. We encounter one nice employee her name was Stephanie. Stephanie checked us out at the gift shop. You can take pictures as long as you do not use the flash on your camera. You can not record any video, though. Overall it was very interesting, we had a good time, the price for tickets wasn't bad at all, and the gift shop was affordable.

This was my first time to the crime museum after several visits to the area. I arrived at 6pm with a 9pm closing time. Though I only saw about half of all the information there is to offer, I enjoyed everything I saw. Around 815pm I heard a voice saying things along the lines of "You need to hurry up. We dont have all night." I just figured it was a visitor trying to hurry their group along. As I continued through the museum, I heard more comments such as, "The museum closes at 9. We need to move along." I still didn't know who was making the comments. I had seen an employee passing through the spaces after 8pm, but hadn't given any thought to it. At about 8:25 pm I saw the employee speak to another employee, in an obvious manner so we visitors could here, "If people want to stop and look at everything, they need to get here earlier. They need to stop letting people in this late. I want to go home." I wasn't aware how far along in the museum I was, so hurried along through the rest. At 8:30pm the announcement was made that the museum will be closing in 30 minutes, over the loud speaker. That was followed by that recently familiar voice saying, "So move it on." I was out of the museum at 8:40pm, so as it turns out, we were being rushed out with about 30 minutes from the exit anyhow.
I really enjoyed the museum and I would visit again, just probably earlier in the day.

This is an incredible museum! I highly recommend this museum. This was my second time in 10 years and it was amazing to see the updated information on cases. They are very updated on current crimes/cases. If you are interested in crimes of the medieval days the whole way up to modern day I recommend this place 100%. They have multiple interactive exhibits as well! Keeps the fun going for everyone!

The museum was a cool experience and we had fun taking pictures with the figures. However, we came with a 1.5 year old, so we didn’t buy the add-ons. That said, we paid $74 for two adults for just the wax museum alone. It’s only $5 each more to add on some other attractions, which might make it more worth it. Very cool experience. Some of the wax figures were very lifelike, and others not so much. It was a nice surprise that you could walk up to the figures and they were not roped off - the props were a cool touch as well. While visiting Smoky Mountains National Park and staying in Pigeon Forge, we had a little time in our hands so we decided to do something very touristy. Of all the many attractions available we chose to go to the Hollywood Wax Museum. The wax replicates are mostly those of Hollywood stars that most people would be familiar with.

Purchased the All Access Pass which was not ALL access. Yes you get into the 4 attractions but you have to select one of two OPTIONS for the game you play. The word ALL contradicts OPTION so that is a let down. Also it’s a real kick in the gut to learn the tickets are cheaper when you buy them at the desk versus online, everywhere else it’s the opposite. The wax museum was pretty good, most of the people look very close to their wax impression. The other building with the other 3 attractions is poorly managed and where you learn all access isn’t that as you choose between which game you’d like. This is a money grab for your kids to ask you why you can’t play both and they you get to pay more money, it’s false advertising. We waited at least 5 minutes for someone to allow us into both the mirror and haunted walkthrough despite hardly any customers the employees just stand there on their phones and stare at you. The mirror maze, game and haunted walkthrough are all good. Very kid friendly just was mad about false advertising and the cost being cheaper on site. Also there was nobody there during our visit on a Friday afternoon it wouldn’t have hurt anything to allow us to play the other game especially when I’m asking what about the all access pass we purchased.

Such an amazing museum! This and another in TN, if I remember correctly, are privately owned. So informative with artifacts about the ship, it's crew, and the people. A great stop if you are wanting to do something in the area. Self guided or you can download an audio tour. The hosts know thier history and the many people that traveled on the ship. My husband and ai were honeymooning for n Gatlinburg. We were looking through travel brochures and saw the Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum. I was immediately intrigued but my husband, not so much. Well to my surprise, we stopped and got breakfast at Flapjacks and the museum was just behind it! So after breakfast my husband treated me to The Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum!!! I was so excited! It was surprisingly cheap to enter at $3.50 each. There was no line but there were a few people who went in ahead of us unfortunately. It would have been more enjoyable if we had waited for them to finish because they were VERY LOUD and often blocking some of the areas where we wanted to look. They kept yelling at their kids and their kids were sooo loud. They had almost every kind of shaker you can imagine. They were categorized and displayed behind glass. There were so many and it was so fun to look at them all. I could have spent hours in there but I tried to keep it minimal for my husbands sake…. And it was a bit loud in there with the other group of folks who didn’t seem to pay attention bit of attention to anyone else in there. We were able to take photos of all the displays but couldn’t take photos in the gift shop. They had some neat shakers in the gift shop but they were so expensive. Like $30 and more for salt and pepper shakers (Cracker Barrel sells cute ones for 0.99 cents) so ai was a bit disappointed about the prices in the gift shop and we couldn’t take photos in there either. That was kinda sad as they had some neat ones. But I’m guessing they don’t want you to google lens them and see how much you can get them for elsewhere. It was a good time though. We enjoyed the museum and ai would go again. The couple working the museum (most likely owners - were very nice folks).

The Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum is so much fun for everyone. My 5 year old loved it, my 17 year old sister loved it and the adults LOVED it.
This was an extra memorable trip because they had all of my daughter’s favorite things: chicks 🐥, kitties 🐱, holidays!!! She loved everything so much that she sat down her stuffed animal, Hedgie, and he was forgotten in all of the shakin’ excitement. I am so happy that this is the place that she forgot him. I cannot imagine that we would have even gotten Hedgie back from any of the other attractions we visited on our first Fall Vacation. But The Salt and Pepper Museum located Hedgie and gave him a Night at the Museum of Salt and Pepper Shakers to remember.

This is such a strange and delightful museum. The outside of the building is quite humble, but the inside is filled with so many delightful treasures. Salt and Pepper shakers might not seem interesting to everyone, but it's such a unique lens to view history. There are pieces from all over the world. Old first class airline shakers. I would highly recommend stopping at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center. They offer so much history about the area and some great displays. There is a historic settlement to walk through with old cabins, out buildings, and animals. You will also find hikes, restrooms, and a heard of elk if you time it right. Wow, this place was awesome. Driving to Pigeon Forge and happened to see this place. I absolutely love history and how people lived some 100+ years ago. This definitely shows you how life was. Super fun (as always)! We’ve hit up 4–5 Ripley’s locations now, and every single one brings the weird in the BEST way. Different exhibits at each stop—so it’s always a surprise (and a photo op)!

This is definitely a tourist trap not worth your money or time. Lackluster exhibits and displays. I did enjoy a couple of things such as the taxidermy animals born with abnormalities and the recreation of the Hogwarts castle done with toothpicks. First of all , I highly recommend pairing this visit with a drive through Cades Cove...made the perfect day trip . The museum and gift shop areas are very nice . Lots to see and read throughout the building and I feel it's just enough to hold the interest of younger children while also being informative and thought provoking for teens and adults . The tour of the outside structures are probably better suited for a cooler day ...but if you really want to have an authentic experience and see just how it felt living and working without electricity I highly suggest a visit in July .

Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is an amazing spot for both kids and adults! It’s much bigger than you’d expect, with tons of exhibits to explore. One of the highlights is the moving conveyor tunnel, you’re surrounded by sharks, rays, and all kinds of sea life as you glide through. There are interactive displays, fun photo ops, and even a penguin walk parade that’s a must-see! The penguins are adorable and it’s a unique experience you won’t find at most aquariums. The glass bottom boat ride is a must! We had a good time, but for the price of admission we did expect some more sea animals. The shark lagoon area was our favorite; we went through a few times seeing something new each time. The parking garage behind the aquarium is the most accessible area for parking.

Wife and I went on a Thursday morning. Same time as hundreds on 2md and 3rd graders on a field trip. While it was fun watching kids see and learn about nature the chaos with all these screaming and running kids brought our enjoyment down a notch.
The tunnel under the tank is incredible to see. Penguins never disappoint.

My only 'gripe' is that I feel like nearly $50 for an adult ticket is a bit much for the size of the aquarium. The TN aquarium is much larger and it's only about $35. They have a nice display area for artifacts and models, with lots of original items and some clearly labeled replicas. Great information, you can easily lose an hour in this part.
But you're here for the hanger full of planes.
They have a couple of replica WWI- and WWII-era planes. They have a couple of MIGs. They have some great historical planes. There are some jet engines, including a cut-apart engine so you can see the parts.
They also, almost absurdly, have collectible cars. Military Jeeps, sure, but also some classic cars.
Overall, a fun way to spend a morning.

The museum had a brand new wooden ramp built for easy access to the multiple levels of the gift shop and museum. Definitely recommended for people of all ages. I had a wonderful time visiting the Tennessee Bible Museum recently. We joined a one hour guided tour through the history of the bible, including exhibits of famous misprints, bibles belonging to notable American citizens and several extremely rare bibles to name a few things. Two of my favorites from the bible collection (I hope its ok to share the photos) was Frank Capra’s bible (anyone know what he’s famous for???) and the Shields of Faith bible which was a pocket-sized steel-covered bible sent to service members to carry in their front shirt pocket, offering them some protection in the field. After the tour, we spent time in their gift shop and perused the large offering of bibles, devotionals and other gifts. I don’t know of any other place like this so it’s very unique in that respect and,in my opinion, is a must stop in the area for anyone interested in the history of the bible. The location was handicap-accessible and there were restrooms available on site. They are open 6 days a week and calling ahead for tickets/ reservations is recommended. The price was very affordable at under $15/ person for ages 10 and up. Under 10 years of age was free.

The owners & staff are exceptionally friendly, the atmosphere is amazing (hymns playing in the background as you are sorrounded by so much history), and their bookstore portion is phenomenal! An absolutely wonderful store that has been tastefully layed out and displayed with a vast collection of Bibles and Christian books. There is also a museum and tour available for a reasonable cost. The tour is about an hour long. I understand that some of the artifacts and displays were acquired from The Holy Land experience in Orlando Florida that unfortunately shut done due to the pandemic. Tour was nice as you get to touch old Bibles and get some history on how the translations have changed and who died for the cause. Hulk Hogan store next door is cool too. I would check them both out.

Really enjoyed worshipping with the congregation in Gatlinburg. We were visiting on vacation and everyone was very friendly. They've built a big enough church for growth. The song leader was excellent, loved the congregational singing. There was a visiting preacher from the Bible college in Knoxville, his lesson was Bible based and encouraging, Christ centered. About half the church were visitors but the locals are welcoming and during fellowship we were given some good local restaurants for after worship and invited to come back for evening worship. My niece was baptized here when they attended.

The fried chicken was superb, but the green beans and mash potatoes were lacking flavor. Mashed potatoes reminded me of boxed potatoes. The chicken n dumplings were good. I was under whelmed with the corn fritters, I was hoping for more of a hushpuppy and flavor. It's basically fried dough. They serve it with maple butter. I am not a fan. The fritter tasted better dipped in the vegetable and corn chowder soup. The soups were good. The corn chowder was better than I expected and had a lot of flavor. It was a mix between gravy and soup. The portion size was generous and we left with Togo boxes. The lunch entrée didn't include dessert.

There was a long wait to dine at this restaurant. We gave our name and waited over 30 minutes for them to call us in the loud speaker. While we waited, we browsed the adjoining gift shop. Absolutely loved it here. It was a nice peaceful ride up to the mountaintop. And once you get up there the views are just absolutely incredible. Then you start walking up to the tower. Just go off the tower The view is getting better. So much to do here especially if you have kids.
Unfortunately if you're a tall guy big guy you can't go through some of the activities which is on the standable such as life. But definitely a lot of fun this place. Especially during the fall time..
I would suggest go early though especially during the week. It can get pretty crowded really quickly. Especially if you park in the parking lot where they are. It gets crowded really quick.

We arrived Saturday, November 15th and this place was packed with tourist. The parking lot was at full capacity so we parked at the garage. $10.00 for the whole day is a fantastic deal. We were walking distance from every where, quite convenient. We took the chair lift(they also offer a closed in cable car)to the top and it was wonderful(a bit scary[windy day] but worth it). The shops, restaurants( the drinks we ordered were delicious), and activities were adorable. Family friendly galore. I wish I had more time to stay for the evening lights part of the park. I loved the food stands and how each stand had a different type of hot chocolate. It all looked yummy! The drinks and the ice cream made my day! They had a show with elves singing and dancing. As we were leaving the carolers were arriving. There's definitely the feel of the Christmas spirit here. I'd definitely return another time.

This came recommended from a friend who has been down in the area before. It was very busy when we arrived and said it would be a 90 minute wait, but we still decided we wanted to go for it. We ended up only waiting about 60 minutes and it was definitely worth it for the awesome ski lift ride and views at the top. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. There was great signage everywhere. At the top, they had a large offering of food, gifts, and experiences for the whole family. As you can see from the photos, the views are pretty unbelievable.

It's a great mountain escape! We spent the whole day there and did the Lumina at night which was also an amazing experience. Everyone in our party enjoyed the mountain coasters so the pass to ride both is worth it. (We went in October and luckily the weather was perfect. It did rain the day prior and I was told that it does rain a lot in the summer.) Whether you have kids or not, go down the metal slides at the bird houses, it was pretty fast and fun! While you're at it you might as well jump on the rope trampoline too. Wish I did the Zipline but there's always next time.

We visited during their fall harvest venue. Our granddaughter had a great time on the blow up slides and bouncy house for kids, face painting and balloon animals. We enjoyed being able to sample the hard apple cider and the regular apple cider. We also got our hands on several types of homemade bread and muffins. I feel like describing this as a cool or interesting place to visit is disrespectful of the history represented within the museum, but if you're looking for a way to connect with the actual culture of the Cherokee people while visiting then this is it. You move from era to era, learning how the Cherokee nation lived, worked, and played then learn about the Trail Of Tears and the treaties written (and broken) 2 centuries ago. It is eye-opening and appalling but I think it's absolutely necessary for those of us living today to study and understand the mistakes our forefathers made so we never do the same.
There are wonderful exhibits of arts & crafts and the gift shop is filled with goods from indigenous artists and shop owners. One exhibit has the Cherokee alphabet on push buttons so you can hear the pronunciation which was really neat. There are just a lot of great things to see here!

The permanent exhibits feel like old friends that we are always happy to see, while the new items and changing exhibits keep the museum fresh, allowing us to learn even more history! Great experience! We were able to go during the daytime and at night, which both gave us fantastic views! You can go twice with each ticket and I recommend checking Groupon for deals. Mingo Falls is absolutely breathtaking; one of the most stunning waterfalls in the Smoky Mountains. The short hike up the wooden stairs is steep but totally worth it once you reach the viewing bridge. The sound of the rushing water and the cool mist create an incredibly peaceful atmosphere. Loved this completely free museum. Had a great time learning about the Bush family and their humble beginnings and the transformation into what we think are the best baked beans around. Never realized they have 120 different products of fruits, vegetables, chili starters and bean varieties. It was cool to learn about the process from finding the beans to obtaining them on site, cleaning, cooking and canning. I had no idea of the process I learned a lot. Mom wanted to treat us to the restaurant and go through the museum. I honestly had my doubts about a bean factory museum. I was completely surprised at how much of a good time it was. It's really great and very interesting. Interactive, informative, fun, well laid out and a very friendly staff. My daughters loved the scavenger hunt and prize they got. The scale that tells you your weight in beans is pretty cool. The video was interesting and informative. This place was fantastic. The exit through the gift shop is an opportunity to see every type of bean know to man and I bought several. Lot's of neat items and the usual merchandise. Hats, shirts, cups, kitchen items, and of course beans. Not only was this place a great time but the restaurant was fantastic as well. I highly recommend a visit and definitely bring the kids. Great place to spend the day.

While in Pigeon Forge we took a side trip about 12 miles out to Dandridge, TN to the Bush Beans Museum & Restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed this. Helps to be a bit of a nerd. We were amazed at the process, from field to table. We love family stories that show success from humble beginnings. I love the use of family photos & stories of early life, to the modern marvels that help to feed millions. There’s a neat souvenir shop, and a very nice restaurant. The whole place was very clean & well maintained. Our daughters are jealous they weren’t with us! Looks like another visit is in our future. If for nothing else, go for the restaurant. I don't know that I would travel very far out of the way to go here, but it is a great little road trip stop. The museum was interesting and interactive for a variety of ages. The gift shop had lots of fun bean swag and knick-knacks. We were really tempted to get canned t shirts and the egg salt and pepper shakers. The cafe was out favorite part! Pleasantly surprised at how interesting it was to learn about the history of Busch’s Baked Beans. The grounds are beautiful and the museum is very well done and like I said lots of interesting history about how they started and how they did things back then and do them now. They also had some hands on stuff for kids. Shop was full of cool stuff too. We ate at the restaurant and it was good, I had their special, which was a taco salad and it was loaded with meat and a little bit of lettuce (would have liked a little more salad with the meat). The others had the Busch’s chili pie and they said their was good too, but not anything to rave about. The service was very good and the desserts looked amazing. Our friend got a milkshake and he said it was delicious. Definitely worth the visit.

Museum and general store are such fun. Store has VERY nice things and was fun shopping around. Unique gift items. Staff is super sweet. Grounds are beautifully decorated for Fall.
Restaurant was not great, however. The chicken fried steak was dry and the gravy tasted of raw flour and was really pasty. The fried apples were overly sticky and sweet, like canned pie filling. Not good at all. Hot dog with chili was just okay. Bun was dry and hotdog, while big and juicy, was really salty. The chili on top was tasty though. The bowl of chili and grilled cheese were both very good. We would not eat here again but the museum and shop we will visit again! Staff was very welcoming and nice.

So we went there because we wanted to ride the FlyRider, when we got in it was pretty fast and not a lot of people were riding at around 5:30pm. With that said we all went and did the Flyrider before it had ended the machine decided to do a software update or so the guy told us and took us off the ride. I was a bit upset because we didn’t get to finish the ride at all but Ms. Shannon understood and gave us and some other family a complementary pass for the next day to see it. We went early the next day she remembered us and gave us an entry to the other area while we waited. She is a true example of great customer service. Thank you Shannon for your understanding and for letting us have fun as well. We highly recommend the place it is super cool and it will be especially fun for kids. Recommend doing this place!

This place was actually better than I expected. I thought it would be all about cameras and lenses but I couldn't have been more wrong. I love sports and video games so this was the place for me. I grew up playing Mario on Nintendo. I really enjoyed playing the different game systems I grew up on. They had a baseball interactive game, basketball shoot out, skeeball and more. The displays were very informative and interactive. They have displays for all ages. My personal favorite was the Virtual Reality (VR) rides. The finger coaster was awesome. Booked a visit here for a fun rainy day activity for a group of adults and kids. Had fun with all of the different interactions, taking pictures and learned a lot. The kids liked it and enjoyed the Flyride. Some of the interactions weren't working. It's not an all day entry and can be completed in about 1 hour - 1.5 hours. Buy tickets online for a discount. We had a great time! We visited as a family of 4, kids are 8 & 6. Highly recommend doing the combo ticket for Beyond the Lense and Flyride (Flyride is definitely worth it!) Some of the areas were down or not working, like the big foot shooting area and the alien ball pit only had enough balls to cover the floor, but we all still enjoyed our time. The selfie stations are super fun and the video game area was fun and brought back memories of games I grew up playing. The kids also loved the 3 VR games as well as the arcade style games that have unlimited plays.

They also had some workshops related to the exhibits so I would suggest checking their event calendar if you're interested. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Asheville is world renowned for it’s art, artists, and artistic sensibilities. We naturally therefore visited the Asheville Art Museum with high hopes. Located in the heart of downtown in a beautifully designed building, which is itself a work of art, parking is as expected for the downtown Asheville, or any other moderately sized cities’ downtown area. It’s not difficult but it’s not easy by any stretch. Thankfully downtown Asheville is very walkable and there are several parking options within half a mile of the museum.
The museum staff and docents are friendly and subdued. $20 per adult did not initially seem a steep price for admission, but we were admittedly underwhelmed by the scope and collection of art on display at the museum. Galleries totaling probably less than 5,000 square feet spread across three stories highlight Asheville and Western North Carolina artists primarily, with a varied collection of art mediums and eras. There are lovely oil on canvas, native sculptures of first nations tribes in the area, and an interesting exhibit on Asheville architecture on display during our visit (October 2025), but still the museum felt lacking. We expected significantly more in terms of the collection size and scope, and it appeared that while the building was large on the outside, the majority of the interior was utilized for offices, classrooms, and non-public areas

One of the historic buildings of The Great Smoky Mountains NP. It's a 2.2 mile hike from Metcalf Bottoms or you can take a narrow one lane gravel road back to shave one mile off the trip. It's currently in the restoration process but still very much worth the hike. This is a beutiful old structure with incredible stacked stone fire places. The restoration process has brought this old girl back to life. Incredible workmanship from skilled artisans of old techniques. I highly recommend a hike back to view this one of a kind home. PLEASE leave it as you found it and don't carve your name in irreplaceable timbers. Show some respect and leave no trace of you being there. This place deserves that so we can have it for the next generation.

As a 4th cousin removed here, this place is extremely special to me. I visit anytime in the area. The roof needs repairs and not sure if there are plans to help restore it. There is at least a tarp covering it to slow additional damage to the rest of the cabin.

This was our first time trying this escape room chain and it won’t be our last! We absolutely LOVED it. The rooms and customer service were TOP NOTCH and after we finished one room we ended up booking another and even returned the following day to do more! The prices are a little on the high side but the rooms and the experience are totally worth it (plus they offer 20% off an additional booking after you complete a room). Our family loves escape rooms and we’ve been to several before. We checked around a bunch of places around Pigeon Forge and we ended up choosing The Escape Game in the Island. We loved their escape rooms so much that we ended up doing 3 of them over a couple days (They give you a discount on subsequent games if you book more within a day or two).
Not only did this business look higher quality than the others we checked out, but at the price it was also cheaper per person somehow.
The quality of the set design, integration of the screens and interconnectivity with the games (Cosmic Crisis and Timeliner especially). We were blown away by all of it enough to spend more money with them and come back three times.
We also highly recommend their sister business Great Big Game Show in the same plaza. Such a super unique experience to be a part of your own family game show! Love these places and we will be back in coming years for sure to knock out the other rooms!
Our reviews of the rooms in order of how much we loved them:
Cosmic Crisis (The most fun we had and required the most team work in unison. Our 6 year old loved Hermes the computer AI that helped you during the game)
Timeliner (A bit more difficult but had a super cool time travel theme that we loved and the sets are wild! Such a fun time!)
Gold Rush (This one was fun as well, however it was the simplest by far and we solved it without any clues at all with an extra 20 mins to spare) It’s worth doing maybe if you’re a beginner?
This company is super legit and the quality of everything is top notch, highly recommended!

Staff and actors were so nice and done a spooktacular job at making me scream. This was kid friendly so if your little ones get scared easily,then this should be one of their first haunted houses to begin their haunts and horrors. I loved the beginning where we had to find the opening door to begin our tour. It had a few slanted slopes so take your time and be careful. It’s very dark with some fluorescent tape for guidance. It has heavy bags hanging from the ceiling that swing. They had some steps that turn and twist. It was a fantastic atmosphere and very enjoyable with great prices.

Old school haunted house. It had maybe 4 or 5 actors but these people inside were insane. Climbing up walls, scares from the sides, below furniture, ontop of furniture, jumping across a balcony to catch up to your group. The handful of actors made it feel like 25 people in this haunted attraction. Fun haunted you travel three floors up and down, I think even to the basement. Each room you have to find the way out meanwhile having people jump out at you. This is a jumpscare house. Very well decorated although it's dark so hard to appreciate all the details. The end of it the actors chased our group all the way to the sidewalk of river street. This was during the weekend halloween overlay but man was it fun.

First things first, their public restroom needs a shoutout. Immaculately cleaned and themed to the whole fossils/geology vibe. I couldn't believe how nice it was. The mining experience was great! This grist mill was in operation from the 1800s up until 1930 and it has been well preserved as original as possible.

While there technically is no cost the park is now charging a parking fee for stops over 15min. I did not see a pay kiosk here. For me this hike in May was rather muddy but I didn’t get muddy by the mill. It can be a quick and easy walk and see. After enjoying the mill and reading the signs; I then hiked to the cemetery. That hike is about 2 miles in and out. There were only 3 ppl I saw the entire time and they were hiking the opposite way. The cemetery while very cool is old and you can’t read the stones, not sure on details of who is laid to rest there. The cemetery is surrounded by mountain laurel which was in bloom. It appears that at some point it had been fenced with barbed wire. It’s all dilapidated now. While this is not a hard hike be advised the last little bit to the cemetery is up hill, again it was spring for me and waterproof footwear is advised. Today I also saw a female elk just barely off the path, she watched me pass and I was glad she seemed subdued. I always carry bear spray for those just incase moments but I kept a wide birth from her. Her ears were twitching and she didn’t take her eyes off me. I didn’t see any others. The bridges are narrow and unique but do the trick of keeping you dry. A lovely spot of woods!

Very short trail, didn’t actually finish it but loved the experience. Wanted to see some elk, so got there about 7:30 am. Parking lot was still pretty empty and we saw plenty of elk in the pasture.
Walked down the trail, pretty easy, flat, runs by the river. About half mile in trail was blocked by a group of female elk and their young ones.
Got to watch them for a while until the bull elk came in and started driving them back. Then got to see them cross back over the river back into the forest. Was an amazing experience.
