Exceeded all expectations. For our family of 6, we found it was engaging for our children and showcased high quality art for adults. The print pressed art was outstanding and full of detail. You can get right up to the work to look at the intricacies of the artist's details. There are QR codes to scan and hear from the artists. Local history is fun to explore when you are out of your home state area. This museum provided an excellent glance into the local history and unique customs of the area around Steamboat Springs. The artifacts are well preserved and explained in detail. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I thought they have done a wonderful job of displaying and sharing the local history and the life of early settlers. There is a little room for kids to explore hands on and my young children loved it. The museum was tough but enjoyable with my almost 3 year old, but not great for younger kids. We were glad we went.

The gondola is a real highlight—it provides stunning scenic views as you make your way up the mountain, and it’s such a smooth and efficient ride. This resort was amazing and probably one of the best I’ve been to. There were barely no crowds for both the weekend days, the runs and snow were great, but were amazing the next day, and the lodges were great and conveniently located throughout the park. The staff and the ski lifts were great as well. I highly recommend to ski on the east side of the ski area near the Morningside and Bur-Ue lifts, as those runs were the best I’ve ever encountered. As for the rest of the ski area, it was great overall and easy to navigate throughout each section of the mountain. If you’re looking for a ski resort with no crowds, amazing snow, great runs, great views, and wanting to try a different resort, go here. Highly recommend! Breathtaking resort overall!

Rode the gondola at Steamboat Springs Ski Resort to have a meal at the top. Laura and her team helped us immensely, otherwise the whole trip would have been over. Experienced the best customer service ever! Our 88 year old mother-in-law struggled with the altitude and the crew at the gondola bent over backwards to help us even with a huge wedding going on. Very very nice botanical garden that is well cared for! It seemed like every tree and plant were labeled and/or dedicated to someone that helped in the garden at some point.
They also apparently do weddings which was interesting to watch.
There is a literal Osprey living just outside the gates in a nest that we got to find and view thru the viewfinder they set up within the park. Several ponds and snaking paths up rocks and thru trees made for an easy walk about and an amusing and relaxing trip.
Well worth the stop to stretch and picnic.

Went into the gallery NO ONE was in the front desk! Walked around the gallery for approximately 5-8 minutes and still no one came to meet us. While walking around the bathroom door was open and utilized the bathroom, at that point the rudest sales lady that works there went to meet us and gave me the key and said “either I open the bathroom door or you open it” but you can’t use that bathroom and kicked us out of the gallery.

Walked along this trail that follows the river and heads into or out of steamboat springs. Trail is easy to walk along and well maintained and marked. Plenty of room on each side for runners, walkers or bikers. Area is pretty with mountains in the background and easy access to the town and various attractions. The highlight of the trail is seeing the Osprey offspring in their nest right outside of the botanical gardens. From that vantage point you can also see the Yampa river through lush vegetation.
Aside from that the trail was a great disappointment. The “Core River Trail” lacks one essential - a good view of the river. For a long stretch you walk on a sideway near a busy road. From that sidewalk you look past 20 yards of vegetation, an operational railroad track, and another 30 yards of vegetation to the location of the Yampa river. But you cannot see or hear the river from the trail!
Note that numerous bikers riding at speed were a constant nuisance if not a hazard.
My recommendation is to find one of the few sites along the river to sit, relax and enjoy the Yampa river. Forget about walking the trail and you’ll be happy you did.

We didn’t walk the full trail. We walked a couple of sections of it over a few days. Saw a couple of nice parks along the way along with the river and the library. A lot of the trail we walked was pretty shady, but there was a long stretch along a side road (not by the river) that was in the direct sunlight so it was a little hot. There was also one spot along the trail that smelled like there might be some sewer issues, but we were able to pass that pretty quickly. Past the library along the river, there was a little hot spring bubbling up. It was cool to see, but I cannot handle the smell. So beware if you’re sensitive to smells like that. We stopped in at Mountain Tap Brewery and had such a great experience. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming—they happened to be hosting trivia night, and it was clear everyone was having a good time. Even though it was busy and a bit loud, we were still able to hold conversations without shouting, which was a nice balance.
We ordered the beer cheese dip, Rancher Pizza, a kids’ pizza, mac n’ cheese, and the Campfire S’more for dessert. The food came out surprisingly fast, probably within 10–20 minutes, and everything was absolutely delicious. We held a wedding reception here and it was such a perfect esthetic and space for our small party! The weather was nice enough we had the garage door open for indoor and outdoor space, and they let us bring some decorations for the tables and counter space. My group was skeptical about coming here, but it was the FUNNEST thing we did on our entire trip! We did the ice bumper cars. The place was deserted in the middle of the day, it was AWESOME. It was worth every penny, everyone in our group agreed! We played tag, raced each other, and tried to see who could spin the fastest. You can ice skate AND do the bumper cars for 20 minutes for just $20, and they have jackets there- but I would totally wear an extra sweater and bring an extra jacket because it was seriously cold in there. The line moved very slowly. I heard two customers behind me who were locals discuss how slow the service was and that the last time people left because of the wait. I ordered oatmeal and a hot tea. The oats were served In Luke warm water so it was more of a cold cereal than a hot cereal. I ordered almond milk with my tea since there were not any non dairy option out. I got tea with no almond milk. I was hesitant to walk to the front of a line of people who had already been waiting awhile to ask for almond milk stopping the process. Cons: it's super expensive for 1 ride. It was on our bucket list to try, but feel like we should at least have gotten 2 rides for the $20 price tag. What a hoot! Went here with my 3 year old son and we had a great time. I'd seen reports of it bring too slow but like other alpine slides I think people aren't aware of how hard you push down to really move.
We did a track in a minute 20 seconds and people could beat that surely but I can ride fast. Push hard enough you lift yourself.
The spot is great as there's a nice nearby tree to wait for riders. The trip up is a bit slow, the lift takes a good bit of time. It's worth it though, fun times.

First of all, I am grateful for the staff who were incredibly patient with my kid with ASD. They were encouraging and kind to him and slowed the chair lift down for him.
The experience- nice, slow and pretty ride up on the chair lift. The slide speed down is completely controlled by the rider. My son was able to take it nice and slow on his own and LOVED that he was in control. I don't think he would have ridden it otherwise.
My point in giving all of this info is to let readers know this is good for different abilities.
Caution to rider- you do have to lean forward to push handle down and it is a bumpy ride (if you have a bad back). The heavier you are, the slower it goes. The kids go fast.

During my two night stay in Steamboat Springs and during a walk in the downtown area, I found myself in Roots & Roost. I found it to be a very inviting experience with many treasures from the past.

I recently added a stunning acrylic photo from K Dietrich Natural Exposure Gallery to the living room of my mountain condo, and it has truly transformed the space! The piece, a beautifully captured image of a young bear hugging an aspen tree, adds a vibrant touch that brings life and color to the room.
