Excellent service throughout and we all loved the Black Crows skis we rented! The edges were sharp and the skis waxed, so it’s clear they’re well serviced. The skis were delivered and picked up from our chalet and the team were in contact to check everything was ok throughout the week. Best rental shop! I always rent my skis here - Tignes spirit has an excellent selection of skis for all abilities. I was renting all mountain/ off piste skis and I absolutely loved them, I’m normally a serial swapper of skis at the end of day 1 but Tignes Spirit always gets it right first time. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I stay in Le Lac but hop on the bus to Lavachet to go to Tignes Spirit. It takes three mins on bus and it’s worth it
Also this is just a super cool shop with a great vibe selling colourful Tignes Spirit branded beanies and jumpers among other things.

Excellent customer service from Struan in the workshop. I visited early season having managed to hit a few rocks on my brand new board. The worst damage was a 4 inch core shot. The repair to the base was invisible and the board was ready to ride first thing the next morning which was a pleasant surprise as I thought I was going to have to rent a board while mine was getting fixed. Unfortunately, my battery died, so I couldn't take a photo of the damage but did take one after - see attached. Highly recommended!

Tignes Spirit Rentals were absolutely amazing!!! Friendly, super helpful staff stayed at the shop late to help our group of 12 get sorted with our hire kit. The team spent a lot of care and attention making sure everyone was comfortable and properly set up. They even helped get extra boards and skis sorted last minute following a lost bag at the airport. Easy to order online, great communication throughout, fantastic service and even a courtesy call during the week to make sure we were happy. Such lovely and attentive staff (big shout out to Wilf, having been served by him on his very first day in this store). If you need equipment, look no further! Skimium is absolutely incredible. I arrived completely clueless and Aymeric took fantastic care of me. I felt super safe, knowing I have everything I need for a day on the slopes. He went above and beyond to make sure I’m comfortable and know how to handle the equipment. Absolutely lovely experience! In my first day of the trip, I bought new under gloves for Ski gloves which cost €20. In the following day I discovered that one new glove is damaged with a hole. I got back to the store and shared with the manager the details, explaining I'd just bought these pair and would appreciate it if something can be done. The manager replied arrogantly and disrespectfully, that he does not see how he can help me and does not think he should. He emphasized that he does not understand the reason I considered approaching him, as there is no warranty on the products.
Honestly, I could get disappointed but accept the defect. However, the service was so disrespectful, which made a very unpleasant experience.

This was our first time in Tignes 1800 and we rented our equipment from Sport 2000 Alpes Glisses as it was directly opposite of our accommodation Le Kalinda but slightly cheaper than the other hire shop around the corner. All 4 of us started with snowboards and two had booked the multi ride option to swap to skis half way through the week. Booked it all online ahead of arrival and once there everything went super smoothly and quickly - from initial pick up to swapping and returning the equipment. At no point did we have to wait around, the staff was always happy to help, super friendly and efficient. Merci beaucoup!

The quality of the equipment we hired was really good most looking like it had barely been used before. They were so super helpful when we needed to swap our skis one day to off piste and held our old ones back so we could just collect them at the end of the day without going though the whole fitting process again. Despite it being the peak of the season (French holiday/Christmas), they went above and beyond to meet our needs, even allowing 2 of us to switch to snowboards for the last day and a half (which is not normally possible during peak weeks, especially just showing up at noon with no prior notice). This wasn’t an easy task—they had to use prepped snowboards reserved for other bookings and source two new bindings from another store to prepare new boards. Their commitment to ensuring our satisfaction was remarkable.
In addition to their exceptional service, their English was excellent, making the process effortless. The equipment provided was also of excellent quality. I couldn’t recommend Ski Republic Lavachet more highly—it’s a fantastic choice for anyone.

We found Ski Republic via a comparison site, they were in the top 3 for best value shops & they were GREAT!
The shop had a wide range of skis for all abilities, all of the top brands & a great selection of boots at extremely reasonable prices. I have a medical issue with one foot so needed a particular fit regarding boots, I had loads of choice despite my tiny feet (mondo 22.0!)
The kit was all in good condition & the shop allowed my son to switch his board midway through our break for some skis as he enjoys both sports… all at no extra cost or hassle.
The guys in there were so friendly as well as professional & multi-lingual. It made a good experience an excellent one.

Sachez que l’aspect économique de l’achat du matériel devient très secondaire s’il nous permet d’avoir le luxe d’éviter d’avoir à faire à nouveau à un loueur qui déteste son métier et ses clients comme vous.

When we got to the store early in the morning, the only board they had for me was obviously way to small (kidssize) and old. Nous sommes venus à 3 couples et 5 enfants, nous avons pris nos équipements de skis, des luges pour les enfants, les semelles pour chaussures, vêtements (pulls, t-shirts...) cadeaux souvenirs.... et j'y suis retournée car mon fils voulait pour son anniversaire, un caleçon imprimé avec les pistes de skis, il m'a vendu une taille adulte au lieu d'une taille enfant (14 ans) et gentiment je lui demande si je peux avoir une petite réduction vu tout ce que nous lui avions pris pour la semaine et le prix du caleçon (30€), il me répond fermement non !!!
J'ai payé, car je n'étais plus à 30€ prêt, mais je trouve que ce n'est pas du tout commerçant, je suis moi même dans le commerce. Surtout que ce n'était pas la première fois que nous venions, car nous venons également en vacances l'été et ce depuis plus de 8 ans.
A chaque fois nous allions dans cette boutique pour faire tous nos achats.
Je voudrais par contre remercier 1 vendeur et une vendeuse pour leurs professionnalismes et leurs gentillesses à chacun de nos passages.
Vraiment dommage que le vendeur ne soit plus dans cette boutique.

I ended up buying a pair of ski boots here. The boot fitter named Silva ( I hope that's spelled correctly!) was fantastic. It was amazing, from the fitting to the little adjustments he made for 3 days to get the perfect fit. We always choose Skiset Sportski 1, in the centre Val Claret for our ski hire. The reason is simple: the equipment and services (including digital boot sizing tool) is the best.
The entire team at the shop are very helpful and knowledgeable. Michel the owner is simply amazing. The story below illustrates this point:
Our daughter has different size feet. Our first boot rental store did not notice this and simply gave her two ski boots of the same size. However, Michel noticed the difference immediately and recommended that she have two different size boots. He explained that if not, she would find it very hard to progress with her skiing. Instead of charging for two sets of boots, Michel gave us two different size boots for the same price (despite this being a cost to his business).
When we returned the next year Michel immediately recalled the issue and has been providing different sized boots every time we rent.
We also bought our own ski boots and insoles from Michel (we continue to hire skis from him). Not only did he help us select and size the boots but he custom fitted one of the boots which was slightly tight. Nothing is too much trouble for Michel despite the shop being very busy.
Put simply, we would not hire equipment from anyone else.

Had a fantastic experience with Mountain Story.
I have been struggling with boot fitting from a popular UK based outlet for the last year.. They have made multiple adjustments but each time I ski my boots would still be incredibly painful, and we had gotten to the point of giving up on them.. But thanks to some forum posts online I decided to give Mountain Story a last shot at fixing the issue before I returned them.
With a quick scan of my feet, it was agreed that the boots were correct for my feet and the insoles had been done well, so it would be wrong to try and sell me a new set, but I likely needed more space in the toe box. A scalpel appeared and with the casual ease of someone who has done this many times before, the liner was cut and widened as a beginning step. With advice to return if I had any problems, and no charge for the work done, I headed out for a day of testing.
The boots were better.. But still not there yet, so the next morning I return and, again with casual ease and only 10minutes wait, the boots return this time the shell has been heated and blown out around the toe box. They immediately felt better and so once again I headed out for a day testing. A charge of 30 euros was asked for, and this is the only payment requested throughout this boot fitting.
My left foot is now perfect, the best boots I've worn, but the right foot is still tight and causing pain after a while, so again I return and with a smile, the process is repeated on the right boot to expand it further, again at no charge.
The boots that have been a nightmare for almost 2 years and 8 visits to the UK store I bought them from, have now transformed into something comfortable but also offering more control than I've ever experienced with other boots.. And in total it took about 30mins and 30 euros.
Utterly impressed by both the service, but also how willing they were to continue adjusting the boots until they actually fit without trying to charge me for every change.
But it doesn't end there..
Final run of the trip down the black into Tignes center, and as I'm taking off my skis I notice the one thing you never want to see. The black bases of my skis have a large hole that's not black, it's wooden coloured.. A coreshot on my Black Crows on the final run of the trip.. I'm gutted. But Mountain Story is still open as its changeover day, so I run into the store not expecting much as it looks really bad, and they are really busy.
A quick look at the damage and one of the techs is called over and takes a look, nods, and says they can do it. How long? I ask, knowing we are due to leave the resort first thing in the morning. Come back in an hour is the answer!
65 euros later I have a wonderfully repaired, waxed and sharpened skis ready to go away for the summer. If I wasn't already impressed, saving my Crows from coreshot destruction and super quickly is the icing on the cake. Especially given the state of the coreshot, which is now basically invisible to the eye.
And for a random final addition, I also suffer from sweaty feet and then getting very cold feet, so asked if they had anything to help. Recommended some Falke race socks, which seemed odd, but I tried them... I have never had such comfortable and dry feet while skiing, the recommendation was perfect.

Booked ski rental from SkiSet in Tigne Le Lac for 3 days and the skis were in such a terrible condition (see photos). J’ai loué des VTT de descente dans ce magasin avec mes deux garçons : très bon accueil, matériel de qualité, personnel sympathique et disponible.

The hired skis were shocking and badly maintained. I swapped to another pair that were no better. I had my ski instructor performing maintenance on them in order to actually glide over the snow.
We had already pre booked boot fitting with Sebastian. He was miserable and acted like we were an inconvenience to him. Made my wife an insole without advising it was going to cost €120. He chose our boots for us and gave us no option to choose anything else. He shot me down when I suggested even a different colour, let alone another brand.
He got offended when I had to return as they didn’t fit properly… which was due to his mistake of leaving paper stuffed in the toes while moulding to my feet. This also caused tremendous pain but he didn’t take me seriously when I let him know about it. He even blamed me for not noticing! He’d put plastic toe caps over my ski socks, how I was supposed to feel paper through that is beyond me.
I inevitably had to return for another fitting where he then had a tantrum when I asked for the stickers over my ankle (to create more room that he’d added the first time) saying “no, they’re too big so I shrink them all the way” while throwing his arms in the air.
This meant I had to return a third time due to discomfort and a blister forming over my ankle. He then tried to say I needed an insole for another €120. I pretty much had to force him to try again with the stickers and they worked perfectly… proving he was wasting my time and trying to rip us off again.
Terrible service, especially considering they cost us over €1000. They were also on sale over the road which we saw after, so were really unhappy.
We complained to the manager who was equally unhelpful and unwilling to accept the feedback, making excuses all the way.
We won’t be using Skiset again

Lovely apartment overlooking the slopes, spar shop hassle all you need. Pizza place was very good for food, 1800 restaurant had mixed reviews, the lamb stew was the best of all the meals. La Lac was more varied for eateries but I would look to book especially for your last night if staying at 1800 make sure that you checkboit the free bus times for the evening. Negatives are:
Pretty limited in terms of facilities, much more higher up and gondola only starts at 9am.

Les Boisses is the second lowest ski area in Tignes. If you like a quieter location, this is your thing. There is only 1 lift that takes you over the mountain to the larger ski area of Le Lac and Val Claret, or you can take the bus that runs every 15 minutes.

The experience at this skiing shop depends on whether you are a “good customer” in their eyes. In my 15 years of skiing worldwide, it’s my first time encountering this type of experience.

Super family friendly we were two families and they took great care of us.
The shop is really conveniently located near the start of the slopes and ESF ski classes meeting point which made the trip easy. I’d recommend to take the « gardiennage » of your ski/shoes (you can leave them in the shoes overnight.

The staff were super rude and despite their arrogance not very knowledgeable. After I’d reserved a premium package they tried to give me third rate skis and boots. After I asked for a better set which I’d paid for, they complained and acted like grabbing another pair of skis was the biggest inconvenience they’d ever faced. Once I finally got a decent pair of skis, their “expert” ski technician set the bindings so loose that my skis popped off every other run until I found a station to tighten them on my own. If you want decent service from people who know what they’re talking about go somewhere else.

Arrived into the resort at 3pm Sunday, 2 minute walk across from Residence Santa Terra to Skiset, 10 minutes later fully equipped to go skiing! Managed to get a run in before the lifts closed. Very friendly and helpful staff members offering advice on Ski type etc. The store has a range of other equipment for hire and purchase. Helmets, ski goggles, gloves, buffs etc. Reasonably priced given the location. You can also hire and purchase sledges or “luges” along with snow shoes if required. We had a very pleasant experience and would use again. Just remember that things can get busy at times so patients is required. Completely terrible.
Reserved all our material, but did not have enough helmets upon arrival. Were told to come back the next day. But this was the least of our problems.
I received a snowboard with two left feet bindings, one of which was size Medium and the other Large. On top of that one of the bindings were missing the guard.
When I came back the next day to get it fixed, the staff that helped me did not know how to set up a snowboard. I had to explain to him step by step how to change everything (come on, there are arrows on the bindings to show which one goes left and right and I still have to correct it..).
Trouble wasn't over though. The next day the right binding came loose so I had to go back again (the guy that helped me this time fixed it within a minute, he's the only one that knew what he was doing. Shout-out to him!).
Even on the last day, on the final decent, the right toe strap broke.
And to add the cherry on top, returning the hired material was just annoying and unnecessarily complicated.
Other skiset's have been okay, but this specific location was just terrible.

Absolutely terrible experience with my ski hire here. Unfortunately my family and I experienced complete incompetents. My brother was given the wrong size poles, my Niece the wrong sizes Skis. We did not realise but were informed by the ESF instructor. On returning the equipment I handed my helmet in and was accused of not returning it when I had seconds previously. It was eventually found without an apology. I was then over charged for the rental which i had to defend until eventually allowed the promised "online rate' when I arrived. We shall be using inter sport next year! AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Chalet des Aiglons in Val d’Isère, nested at Rond Point des Pistes, is nothing short of exceptional! For parents looking for an stress-free ski holiday while ensuring their little ones have an incredible time, this place is a dream come true.
Two of my children, aged 3 and 5, had the most wonderful experience here. From around 9 AM to 5 PM, they were in the best hands, allowing us to enjoy the slopes worry-free. The staff, led by the incredible Julien, is the friendliest imaginable—welcoming, attentive, and truly dedicated to making every child feel at home.
The daily schedule is perfectly balanced: mornings are spent at the chalet with a mix of activities like movie time, crafts, games, and outdoor play. Then, the children enjoy a delicious lunch before being walked across the trail to their ESF ski lessons in the afternoon. It’s a seamless, well-organized system that gives parents peace of mind and keeps the kids engaged and happy.
My 5-year-old previously did a full-day program at ESF with breaks at Chalet des Aiglons, which also worked very well, though it can be a bit tiring for younger children. This year’s setup, with the morning at the chalet and afternoon skiing, was the perfect balance for us. Note that it is also possible to do morning lessons and afternoon at the Chalet.
I highly recommend Chalet des Aiglons to any family visiting Val d’Isère. It’s a fantastic place where kids are well cared for, entertained, and encouraged to enjoy the mountains, while parents can make the most of their ski time. A flawless experience from start to finish!

Zero stars if possible. We booked our son for daycare here (have confirmation emails to prove it) and they cancelled on us once we arrived in Val d’isere after a 6 hour drive. Now we have an expensive hotel we cannot cancel and we cannot ski. Unreliable and unhelpful staff do not care. There are no other childcare options in this area so beware if you have young children. I would choose another resort area that has proper childcare.

Our child is exactly one month away from his third birthday. We made the centre aware of this in an email and were reassured in writing this wasn’t an issue. We booked an entire trip and only once we arrived discovered it was indeed an issue that he was one month away from being 3. Completely disrespectful of our time and money. Clearly not run well.
