Overall, I would never go and pay the $54 to do this again, and honestly disappointed we spent THAT much for our visit, I fully advise anyone visiting in the future to keep all these things in mind. Because after our visit, we fully understand why they don’t allow filming inside. They definitely don’t want anyone to see how underwhelming it is before going and lose their business. 🥴

We came across the Salem Witch Museum 1692 and decided to give it a try. It was very busy, with lines to get in, but everything was organized well. Its a very neat tour and a very cool house and the grounds are SPECTACULAR. It has very little to do with the Salem Witches though. If you like old buildings and historical feeling things, this may be worth it for you. If you skip the house tour your won't be missing anything truly relevant to the trials or Halloween. I do recommend the grounds tour though. Especially if you love a majestic view. The pictures I took do not do it justice. Also, no ghosts were felt or spotted during the tour.

We found parking by the Salem Armory Visitor Center near Witch City Mall. We could not use the parking garages because our minivan with cargo carrier was too tall. We circled the lots maybe 5 times before we saw someone leaving. We walked over to the visitor center first where we got maps and NPS Passport Cancellation Stamps. We also bough t some merch and checked out the few exhibits and took some pictures. Then we headed down to where the majority of the points of interest were near the water. Our first stop was going to be the Waite & Peirce Park Store. They have additional NPS Passport Cancellation stamps and also has a many items not available at the store in the visitor center. So make sure you visit both. Then across the street was the Custom House. This was the only other thing that was open to us on a Friday in Mid-June 2025. We went in and explored the 2 floors worth of rooms. There were a number of rangers here to answer questions as well. There was were many rangers in fact I was curious why some of the other locations weren't open for us to explore. We walked around outside for a bit and decided it was time for a late lunch. Overall it was a nice experience. All the rangers we spoke too at each of the sites were great and since many of the places were closed, we would visit again to try and hit more of the sites. Same goes for Salem in general. We only had enough time in our road trip for half a day here and that was just not enough to see everything we wanted to.

Soooo much commerce went through this port at one time. They only have 3 wharfs left from their original 50. So this place was once a massive booming center for commerce. In Salem, you can park in the parking lot by the harbor if you're coming by car. The ferry (the Nathaniel Bowditch boat) has two floors, bathrooms and a bar and is medium size. Very clean and well maintained. When you are leaving/entering the harbours, the crew will give a short but informative presentation about the history of the two towns, 100% understandable both from the microphone and the speakers. PROs Fast - about 55 minutes - efficient and scenic, especially when entering Boston. The boarding process too was very quick and easy - they leave exactly on time! Don't be late! CONs A bit on the expensive side. We didn't know there was a discount for residents and we paid the full price, which is not cheap. Be aware, this can be a bumpy ride. I'm sure it is not necessarily all the time - I'm sure many have done this ferry on smooth, tranquil waters. It was not the case for us today, thought! It was choppy and bumpy, a bit more than what I expected from a ferry. And the boat goes fast...! If you suffer from motion sickness, I definitely recommend NOT to seat on the second floor but to stay on the first floor. We started the meal with the Carciofini In Carrozza and it was a nice light antipasti, the flavor was very well-balanced with the creaminess from the cheese, the saltiness from the meat and the texture and sweetness of the marinated artichoke hearts. Then for the meal we had the Scaloppine Di Maiale Al Pepe over the house made pappardelle and the Tagliatelle Alla Puttanesca with chicken. The scaloppine do maiale al pepe was very nice the pepper was just enough to cut through the cream sauce and give a nice delicate kick to the meal, the noodles were a perfect al dente, and the pork was nice and tender, though I felt as though it could have been cooked differently, it may have been overcooked because it could have been juicier, maybe grilling it like they do the chicken would have brought more life to the dish. My recommendation goes to the putanesca, the chicken was grilled perfectly, there was plenty of it, it was complimented so well by the saltiness of the olives, anchovies and capers, and the delicate sweetness of the sauce, the onions and anchovies were present but not over powering, and the tagliatelle was toothsome and an excellent vehicle for the contents of the putanesca, flavor was trapped in every bite. We capped off the meal with the tiramisu, absolutely tremendous. I couldn't stop myself from eating it. It was so creamy and the texture was so relaxed, and the coffee got us pretty wired for the ride home, there was a second of silence. The recommendation of the tiramisu was from our server who I must mention was so helpful throughout the whole experience, our water glasses never went empty, she helped us navigate the menu and told us what combinations were possible, great guidance for our first experience. Also the atmosphere of the place is exactly what you look for in an Italian restaurant, they had the old school Italian themed pictures, the checkerboard tablecloth, the decor you would expect, it really added to the experience. This other tour guide said that our guide was lying and saying things that were entirely not true. This other tour guide even offered to have the family join their different tour. This is when my family decided we were done and politely excused ourselves and walked the other direction. Another family from our tour told us they didn’t blame us for leaving early.
