It was such a pleasant surprise to see that the hole in the wall Italian place expanded so much over the last few years. I remember the old location you had to walk through the kitchen to use the bathroom! The food hasn’t changed- it’s still the great quality Italian food in Santa Cruz. I got the strawberry blue cheese salad, fresh and citrusy- I love a good summer salad! We also got the ragu and shrimp seafood pasta. Both are so delicious and cooked perfectly. The shrimp was so soft, I’m glad they didn’t over cook it- the fresh tomatoes on top with lemon was a great addition to the meal. My ragu was great flavor, the meat was so tender! I’m so glad that the place expanded so now there’s more space to dine in. We were there and it seemed pretty busy! Looking forward to coming back.

It was such a fantastic experience and they were so helpful in helping us figure out how to make our vision come to life. . Special shoutout to Tory from Venus who made it all so successful. We didn’t have a wedding planner or day-of coordinator, and yet we felt no stress on our wedding day since we knew everything at Venus was under control thanks to Tory–she literally was made for this job. We had our ceremony and speeches in the restaurant, and the kitchen’s proximity to the ceremony required the kitchen to be completely silent for significant chunks of time in the lead up to dinner and yet the food service was, magically executed flawlessly! Everything from the drinks to the food to the staff to the overall ambiance was so special. Ultimately we felt great about writing a check to people we really like and enjoyed working with. The hubby and I have been to the distillery at the old location a few times, but we have not been to the kitchen and new distillery location on High Road. Everything about our visit was awesome. Upon arrival, we were seated right away. It wasn’t super crowded, but shortly after we sat down, the restaurant filled up and I can see why. The food is really good, craft cocktails awesome and the service was over the top. Our server Matthew was nice and friendly, knowledgeable about the menu (helped me pick out my cocktail) and was also very attentive. It was REALLY busy, but he came by to check on us a lot. Fun fact, Matthew looks like Dale Earnhardt Jr, Prince Harry and maybe a little of Ed Sheeran. There's a paid lot, a free lot with a small handful of spaces that overlook the beach, so you can stay in your warm car and still enjoy the view, and there's plenty of free street / residential parking. It's also a nice drive along the shoreline. If I still live in the Bay Area, I'd like to be able to return to the beach on a warmer sunnier day.

I like the fact that this beach is super close to the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History with the giant whale (in iron) in front and the Walton Lighthouse as well the Boardwalk is just walking distance. In fact, during low tide, though not recommended, you can cross under a cave and get right onto the Boardwalk :) There are decently clean public restrooms and trash bins here, which are a plus in my opinion. The sand is in earthy yellow tones and if you’re lucky, the sky looks amazingly. The waves are not too strong here either. Perfect spot for beach picnic or a simple stroll. There are so many dogs running around and everyone is so friendly. This beach is deep and spacious! There are spaces for everyone, even in the weekends.
