We stayed in 3-bedded dormitory, which has toilet and bathroom outside. Dormitory was clean for forest guest house standard. Food is available at rest hiuse. As of now there are 2 rooms (with attached washrooms) in New Forest rest House (FRH), which probably were constructed or renovated during COVID-19 period. You may book one or both rooms through Corbett official website depending on their availability. One room is on ground floor, while you have to take stairs to get into the second room (see image). I was allotted the first floor room. There is no provision for extra bed in the first floor room (not sure about ground floor room). The rooms and attached washrooms are good and properly ventilated. There is no fan/cooler/ac in the room. The only drawback is that there is water drainage problem in the washroom. You have to use a wiper to drain the water from washroom. Western style seat is installed in the washroom. Water supply is 24X7 but sometimes the overhead water tanks run out of water. You just need to inform the housekeeping team & they turn on the motor to fill the overhead water tank. The staff is good & humble. These New rooms are available close to Sarapduli entry gate. The dinning hall/room is at around 200 to 250 meters(approx.) from these rooms. You have to walk to the dining room for dinner or lunch. Unlike last few decades, now there is a canteen available where you will get Maggie, bread-omelet & Parathas (depends on availability) & you don't need to carry ration with you. Carry a torch if you are booking room in Sarapduli. Don't forget to keep 2 bottles of drinking water in your room before you go to sleep. There is one dormitory available with 3 beds (max.) which is close to the kitchen. The washroom is outside for the dormitory but connected to the same structure. The original structure, which I think belongs to the British era, has 02 (two) rooms, with attached washrooms and a dinning room. The kitchen that serves the New FRH & Dormitory is in the same block. However these rooms are not available for online booking and are reserved for Forest officials and or VIPs (the colonial culture is still prominent). I learnt that if you have good connections you may be able to get these rooms (I may be wrong though). This entire campus is secured by electrical fencing which is turned on after sunset.

The adventure began even before we reached the reserve, with a beautiful winding drive through the jungle. We parked the car, and entered the property on foot, and after a short trek across a little lively stream and some wild brush, brough us to the main living area dotted with a with a few cottages, a kitchen and dining hut etc.  A prelude to the untamed beauty that awaited us. The accommodations were impressive; the rooms earthy and snug, clean and with all the conveniences. Indigenous plants and fruiting trees were placed with care and then left to grow wild to create a natural habitat for all creatures. The air hummed with the constant, living soundtrack of the ecosystem. We were fascinated by the different species of birds – doves, bulbuls, laughing thrushes, treepies, minivets, barbets, the resident peacock, spotted deer and twinkling fireflies. And made aware of the different animal calls announcing the presence of danger – a tiger or leopard on the prowl and luckily caught a glimpse of glowing eyes and a dark silhouette. The care and hospitality of the staff made our stay even more memorable. Meals were tasty, fresh, and wholesome, made from ingredients grown on the property or locally sourced. And guided by our host, we explored the in-house waterfall, learned about the flora and fauna, and were inspired by the passion for conservation behind this incredible place. The rains were episodic making our excursions somewhat limited. Sitabani is a serene place rich with the calls of the wild. When conversation stops, one can hear the forest speak. Saw numerous birds such as the drongo, the grey treepie, Himalayan bulbul and several others. The calls of the cuckoo, the barbet and the peacock made our days. The staff was very helpful with bird sightings and explanations about the habitat. We saw the "leopard eyes" in the dark the first night. And on our last day it seems the tiger was on the prowl behind our Cottage. The alarm calls of the sambar were confirming its presence. I wasn't up for any closer encounter than that... :) The simple food cooked from vegetables grown off the land was delicious. A natural stream running on the property was a wonderful surprise. It is definitely worth a second visit for me.

After receiving 4-5 quotations we have settled for one from Corbette package Tour. Mr Girish Sain gave us a comprehensive & compact tour package in which he covered many most beautifull places. Package was quite economical. Hotels were all good properties, rooms were very hygenic, clean. Ambience of rooms were beautifull. Service,food & dinner were all excellent. Staff were all very pleasent in nature ever eager to give their best service. He selected hotels such a way that they all gave us good glimpse of Himalayas and nature. Transport arrangement was good, drivers were very much cooperative. Mr Girish the owner is an amicable & pleasent person going out of the way to make us comfortable. We had very nice time over 6-7 days of trip. Our Deep bhai has taken us to all places which were mentioned in itinerary and guided us really well. Pretty remote. Rooms are spartan but comfortable. Food is vegetarian only (very tasty) and no alcohol is permitted. However, it is rugged. Remoteness comes at a price. We visited in December and the clouds had come in. The solar cells weren't charging so we had no water for showers or lights at night. It was also cold and there is no heating in the rooms (no power = no heat) so you stayed warm under blankets. The food was great but limited in options so you fill your metal tray in the dark with what appears appetising in the glare of your flashlight. I loved it. This was the perfect place for a guy like me. But if you read this review and what a large variety of culinary choices, warm showers, light, etc... maybe this isn't the place for you. If you are someone that loves to camp, roughing it isn't a hardship and you don't need your food prepared a certain way this is the place for you.

We booked govt guest house and Corbett safari through them. They booked Gairal FRH and convince us Gairal is the best FRH under Corbett. When we reached there we realize there is no electricity and it depends on Solar and the fans and light will be operational only in night for few hours. In the scorching heat it is almost impossible to stay in the room. There was no water in the room and they arrange one bucket to use and we had to stick with that bucket throughout the stay. On the Safari side it was horrible experience and our guide was absent in the morning ride. We were told by Asif that we were late and that is why he is gone. Later we met the guide on the return and he said he was stuck somewhere and could not join. Luckily we spotted the tiger and when we asked Asif to wait for few more minutes on the spot he told us we can’t stay as we have to reach Gairal by 9:30 and we are already late . Later he drove us to the guest house by 9:15. When asked he said I drove very fast. This started with a lie and end with lie and in between so many lies. They charge hefty amount from us and provided nothing.

And its almost impossible to get Dhikala FH stay where you have to book it 45 early on a Sunday morning where you will get booking hardly for 10-15 seconds. and it costs so high ~42K including permits, Gypsy safaris, Guide, taxes and stay, for the same tiger sighting. Chill and take canter. If you are lucky you will sight and if not you wont get it even with Forest house stay. Hope this post helps. Note: I took Bus 1 morning safari on 29th April. And we saw Tiger (twice) , Jackel, Tusker Elephant, Many varieties of Deer and Monkeys, Crocodiles.
