Good car parking. Restaurant was very busy but good choice of food, although not much for GF diets or low carb. Many very established trees and shrubs including some giant Redwoods. The church was small but interesting. Barefoot House is private but it’s where the Mitford family lived for some time. You’re provided with a good map that shows the steeper trails. Seating provided in certain areas so you can have a breather and take in the tranquility. You could spend a day here easily.

Built to provide shelter for traders then & still used as market on certain days. Cobbled floor is very uneven & there are gaps in the roof tiles as it probably was in its original state. More on CC village: loved its unaltered exterior of buildings on High Street since 14th century & the period buildings throughout the whole village. Oldest Grevel House built in 1380 is just a bit further from this Market Hall (at north end). Less touristy & without the huge coaches, it was relatively peaceful during my four day stay here in a nice cottage close to this Market Hall in Sept 2024. CC has olde world charm with coaching inns (now pubs & accom), Guild Craft workshops where you can buy hand crafted jewellery, medieval Church, Almshouses, thatched roof cottages with cloud hedges & much more... There is so much to do in this beautiful area. Free parking on the high street and although very busy we found spaces for 3 cars with no issue. The cottage has everything, is beautiful inside and out, spotlessly clean, the welcome card and gifts were very much appreciated and the little garden is gorgeous. Communication is quick, friendly and efficient. The 2pm check in is brilliant, this meant we could get our food and more importantly the wine in the fridge before heading out to explore😊 You will not be disappointed!
