It’s absolutely beautiful and has a very unique design. There is a Cspire stage with plenty of tables. There is a swing, fountain and so much more. They have the 2025 Invitational Artist and Jerrod Partridge is the best hands down. His art is simply beautiful with his handmade paper. There were other artist who caught eye but he is THE BES!! Stephanie and Stacy were so very kind and professional. You must check out the gift shop. The children you see in photo are in their summer camp. They wanted to show me how they hola hoop. The one little girl in video made it clear to me that she was THE BEST! The museum has an area where you can draw an object that represents you! They have a book nook and area to create art. I definitely will return to enjoy these areas. I highly recommend visiting this wonderful museum.

We visited on a Saturday and the place was not too busy. We paid $15.00 each to experience all the exhibits, and it was well worth it. The art collection is not the most impressive I have seen as there were no works from any of the great masters. With that being said, the exhibits left me feeling uneasy and had an impact I had never experienced during previous visits to other art museums. The "What happened to Dr. Smith" exhibit was really profound and provided an intimate connection with the artist in dealing with what obviously was a highly personal, and I am sure painful, journey. The artwork conveyed the sadness of the devastating consequences of mental illness and the history of the suffering of the afflicted, going from a promising medical practice to a state run asylum. I was so impressed by the personal connection the artist achieved in researching his grandfather's plight, and translating it into such an engaging, emotional experience for me, through some brush strokes on canvas. The museum also explored other uncomfortable topics through the art on display, dealing with race and other difficult subjects. As I said, I have never had an experience where the art seemed to resonate so deeply to feelings that left me somewhat uncomfortable, but isn't that what art should do? I definitely recommend the experience.

I really liked her books strewn about the house, it made me connect with her as that's they way my books are often displayed :-) Eudora had approximately 5,000 books. Her garden was lovingly restored to its former glory with help from Eudora's photos. She climbed out of her upstairs window on the roof to take pictures of the flowers and garden rooms below. The docent was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. Although the tour was 2 hours long it seemed much shorter and was well worth the 4 hour drive we took to get there. One other thing to note, Wednesdays have free admission, though the cost on other days is worth it.

But my wife was a fan. So we stopped here on a literary tour of the South. I was impressed with the house and gardens. Like any museum, it is frozen in time. All of Eudora Welty books seem to be laying as she may have left them before passing. There are 3,000 books in her home. 2,000 are at MDAH. She donated the house to MDAH long before passing. Her parents purchased the home in 1925. They wanted to live across the street from Belhaven College. There is so much history in the home and the garden is so beautiful and inviting. I also love the side pitch attached to home. I highly recommended taking the time to visit this site if you are a history and/or garden lover.

He was told by office staff, that yes she had heard it this morning and she played it again in front of my husband but offered not explanation as to why no one had contacted us or why the member of the Reservoir Police Department had not been notified (he was the one who handled campground needs I guess?) So not only was the site not checked prior to arrival , customer concerns are ignored as well. Black tank leakage/spillage is a health hazard. This should have been a concern not taken lightly. Husband requested compensation for us spending our first night having to clean spillage and the front office staff could not make that decision, the officer would need to, he could not and had to get a hold of someone offsite. He stated that whomever he spoke with stated it was "against the law in Mississippi to give a refund". Seeing that this was going no where, my husband left the office. Not once, did any representative of the campground come to our site or apologize for the inconvenience. Actually we had the blame placed on us for not letting them know - even though we left a message as soon we were aware of the problem. On the campground - it has the potential for being nice but has become run down with the cracks in sites, poor hook up connections, majority of park being full time so sites crowded with multiple cars parked in driveway and in grass around sites, laundry room washing machines dirty and one laundry cart rusted, did not use bathrooms so cannot comment. Pros - nice view from our site N5. New bathroom being built but not complete. Cons - everything listed above in addition - speed limit did not exist on road in front of our site *Be aware the campground is not marked well for sites and if you come in at dark it might be difficult. Ever see the show “Bar Rescue”? There needs to be a show called “Zoo Rescue” because this place is falling apart & is in need of help. These animals need to find a better place to call their home. They do not have enough room at all & could really benefit from a bigger space. They look so lonely & depressed. At any other zoo there is always staff readily available to help you or educate you on the animals, but here there wasn’t a soul around to talk to. There is no where to get food here as it looks like the cafe shut down years ago. This place could be a really beautiful zoo if someone could take over & re do it. Admission was $8 per person & that won’t even cover food for the day for one animal. I came across a lot of leaks as well near some exhibit inside by the otter statue (which by the way looks like it hasn’t been dusted in a decade) I also noticed A LOT of dead trees that need to be cut / removed because once that tree falls, a person or animal could get hurt. There are a bunch of broken fences as well. There’s a spot by the rhinos “home” that has a spot where you can easily just hop over it & go inside his area. The flamingos need more water as well as the rhino. I have a feeling this place doesn’t give them fresh water often whether it’s the bath in, cool down in, or even drink! I left here feeling so sad & sick to my stomach. Please, someone help this place!! Save these animals from this horrible environment & bring them to a zoo that is qualified to provide for them & a zoo that WANTS what’s best for these creatures….it sure as heck isn’t here! It felt like walking into a Post Apocalyptic zombie movie. 30% of the enclosures were empty or retired. 100% of them need improvements and landscaping. There is minimal enrichment and every animal looked miserable. The Zebra and Otter were ALONE, these animals are pack creatures and need a buddy. The poor Goose in the "water" exhibit was trying honk and struggling. Also, the "water" exhibit had leaks EVERYWHERE with buckets of stagnant water laying around. The pathways are trip hazards, super uneven and broken grounds. There is a train very close by and every time one went through, the primates would go crazy yelling! The Rhino has no dirt to throw on itself, nothing to do, and laid around looking sad. The only semi-ok animals were the Flamingos!!!!! The dining venue is shut down and boarded up. The reptile enclosure was MISERABLEY HOT and one of the rattlesnakes appeared to be missing. The cougar was pacing and growling and I didnt see anywhere they could hide to cool off. We didnt even get to see the pygmy hippo or hogs because the path was closed. I was there almost 2hrs and saw a total of 10 guests go thru. The "Gift Shop" was miserable with Dollar Store quality items. The Bear habitat had barely a trickle of water for the little valley and he was walking around in small circles favoring his right eye like his vision was off. Now I know why there was a "NO REFUNDS" sign out front. There is no staff anywhere to be found to help educate or guide through exhibits. Looking up ways to report them, I found articles stating they had until 09/01/25 to repair the leaks they so clearly hadnt. Every creature in there deserves somewhere better to live their lives. The "Collins Zoo" would have been a better alternative to the absolute abhorrent state that the "Jackson Zoological Park" is in, and we all know what happened to that zoo...

Will start by saying that This zoo does need maintenance. At first, we didn’t think we would see any animals but as we continued to walk, we did get to see quite a few of them. Some of the exhibits are closed and empty. The cafe was not open. The one “food truck” that was there only had shaved ice or as some would call them, snow cones. She had no food. None of the vending coke machines outside worked. So only place to get a drink or snack (chips, crackers, gum, etc.) would be inside of the gift shop. Let me start by saying the staff were wonderful. Everyone talked to my 3yo and I as we passed by. But we were there from noon to 4 and only saw five employees total the entire time.
