Since the walk is self-guided, we decided to hike in a day early and camp overnight at Anchorage before sailing out the next morning. Being locals, it’s easy to take for granted the incredible place we live in, but this experience reminded us just how special the Abel Tasman really is. The boys loved spotting seals and seabirds and looking back at how far they’d walked the day before. It was the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation, an easy, fun, and unforgettable way to explore the Abel Tasman with kids. We’d absolutely recommend this experience to everyone!

In the main kitchen outside, they have a huge tarp covering the BBQs, so you don't get wet, that was full of water with a small hole with water leaking out of it. Worried the entire thing would cave with the weight of the water on us. The inside area was pretty tidy but the outside tables were very dirty and needed a good wipe. The air fryer was so dirty and gross it made my friend gag. There is NO way someone could use that.

What an amazing experience. All the staff were super helpful and friendly but special mention goes to our kayak guide Harley. He was friendly and chatty, very knowledgeable and great at managing the varied abilities of other people in our group. We enjoyed the experience so much that we returned the next day to take their water taxi out to Bark Bay, we walked back to Anchorage and were picked up again and returned to Mārahau. They are super organised and professional whilst making every experience feel friendly and relaxed. I highly recommend them for visits to Abel Tasman national park.

Friendly, capable and safe kayaking tour company. Even though our weather was a bit rainy we had an excellent all day guided tour from veteran guide Dez & trainee Ollie . Dez has a zillion stories and was a seasoned naturalist with loads of wit and verve. We saw tons of seals, a few rays, even a blue penguin bobbing around close to shore. In one of the other nlets a juvenile seal came over and swan around our boats, playing splashing around--a real treat and the highlight for us. We did the Bark Bay to Awaroa trip, and it was magnificent - but the trip times meant it was impossible to stop for lunch, a swim or a beer at the end. Unlike other similar tours we’ve done across New Zealand we felt our tour guide, Thomas, really made an effort to incorporate us into his culture. He was just generally an interesting person and made sure we all had an amazing experience. Had the coolest day ever canyoning. Our guides, Joel & Bram, were the best. I felt completely confident that I was going to be safe during the trip, even though most of what we were doing was new to me. It has a nice view over the inlet, catching the afternoon sun and sunset. Only a few minutes from the beach and a few restaurants. It worked great as a stop over - clean modern/trendy rooms, however there was no where to put bags/hang clothing. There is a small kitchenette area with fridge, toaster and kettle, but no cooking or sink (need to use the bathroom sink / provided a tub for washing dishes). The floor gets quite cold overnight so wearing shoes is helpful. As well there are 4 rooms side by side, so if there are other guests there isn’t much privacy if you have the door open, or are sitting on the deck. As well we could hear the guests in the room next to ours. Over all it’s a lovely accommodation if you’re just passing through!
