We had dinner upstairs one day and lunch downstairs another. It’s adorable. The food is excellent and so is the staff. We tried several tapas for dinner and all were very good. Between the four of us we had a starter of hummus and 7 tapas. That was plenty but we aren’t large people. I liked the spinach and feta fritters and tuna tacos. My husband liked hummus and fish cakes. We also tried the chicken tenders, fries and mushrooms. For lunch we had a ham and cheese sandwich and the avocado toast. For our dessert we had some of their amazing chocolates. We will definitely go back next time we are there

A delicious roast is what we found YUM. Such value for money and Paula was a lovely host. Highly recommend this establishment, what a little gem. Apart from the roast I was so surprised when entering the female toilets. So clean and quirky. They even had hand cream, deodorant, sanitary items all complimentary. For an Aussie, this Pub gave us a true English experience. 10/10

Yesterday, after a visit to Honister Slate Mine, we fancied a nice meal out. After much googling and head scratching, we decided to call BLOCKS Steakhouse to see if they could squeeze us in with only 30 or so minutes notice. Thankfully, they had space for us and happily booked us in. On arrival, we were warmly greeted by the happy staff and shown to our own private dining room with an open fire with a nice table for 6 already set up in anticipation of our arrival. The nice waitress took our drinks order and gave us all the menus. Whilst browsing through the incredible menu, we were brought complimentary slices of chilli and paprika bread accompanied by a herby butter, which was magnificent. We ordered 3 steaks, the fajitas and two kids' meals, each and every dish was of the highest quality. I am a bit of a steak conissur, and I can say with some degree of authority that the Fillet Steak at BLOCKS is the best Fillet Steak in the Lake District without a shadow of a doubt. I had the fillet steak with chips and peppercorn sauce. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection and had the right amount of char with a nice juicy, pink interior. The chips were perfectly cooked, and the portion size of the chips was very generous. In terms of the peppercorn sauce, the quality was of the highest standard, but the portion size for me was a little lacking as I do love peppercorn sauce, I would have happily accepted a half pint of this creamy goodness! Now we come to the dessert, which really was the cream on top of this epic feast! I had the Baileys Creme Brulee, which was accompanied with a lovely shortbread biscuits, wow! This dessert was mind shatteringly brilliant! My friend had the New York Cheesecake and by the look of his face, and judging from his comments, I would say he was satisfied. After paying the bill, just after I was telling the staff how happy I was with the experience, I was heading for the door when a waitress came around the corner and greeted me with a full body complimentary beer shower, the tray of drinks poured all over me, I managed to juggle and catch one of the gin glasses whilst soaking up the booze like a sponge, she was just as shocked as I was by this catastrophic waste of perfectly good alcohol and thankfully no one was hurt and by some kind of miracle, non of the glasses were smashed. Overall, I would say that this is my favourite Steak House in the whole of the Lake District and I expect that I will be visiting again every time I come to the lakes.

The gentleman on the phone was so efficient and polite, the order was ready swiftly and when I arrived to collect I was paid and out in minutes. All the staff in store were so friendly, and very kind to my young son. The food was absolutely delicious, generous portions, and very reasonable prices. Luckily for us they've also just started doing a lunch menu so we've just been one of the first to give that a go! I had a fish finger baguette with homemade chips and my other half had a baked potato with cheese and beans. Both were fab and more than puts us on until tonight! Tim & Paula are super friendly and just as welcoming to the two dogs we have with us. Would definitely recommend and we'll certainly be back!

After a phone call to mountain rescue and a very professional response they pin pointed us using our phone signal and sent six men out who done a fantastic job getting my wife harnessed and roped and then standing and then walking, talking to her all the time until she felt safe. All of the team who came to our rescue are volunteers and rely on charities to keep the teams going. Next job will be to set up our donations to them. Once again Thank you Chris and Tracey

The pub opens at 10am and we were looking for breakfast, we arrived circa 10.30. We were unsure online if they served breakfast but my o my were we pleasantly surprised. A very warm welcome in very comfortable surroundings, together with a real open fire on a cold November morning with ample choice of seats as we were the only couple in there. Option to use an app to order, or order at the bar which I chose to do. We each chose their classic full English breakfast @ £8.99, and we weren’t disappointed. There was ample well cooked food served in quick time, drinks are extra of course but all in at around £23 for two. We need to go back and try their lunch or evening fayre, if it’s half as good as their breakfast we won’t be disappointed.
