Visited Sept 2025. Use the Westin’s transport because it made it very convenient and ended up being the cheaper option. Plus you can use your passes to go back and forth to St. Thomas for free. We came with family and in total had 3 villas in 2 different buildings. Building 27 was on top of a very steep hill which we walked a couple times but by the end we just started taking the shuttle instead of bothering. The view on the top of the hill is worth it though! We had multiple power outages and our building was being partially renovated during our stay. That part was annoying as they had furniture and cars parked all over the place. But our rooms were recently renovated and nice. This is the main reason for marking it 4 instead of 5 stars. There are great restaurants (mango deli and snorkels) that were visited a lot plus a pool bar and access to the beach front. You can also get to the local store and get groceries, it is just across the street and the shuttle will take you to the front of the resort so you walk about a third of a mile. We had plenty of space in our villa for 4 people, 2 adults and 2 teens. Kitchen and balcony, all made the trip relaxing because we had our own spaces. All the staff here was very nice and helpful. They have an events calendar so pay attention because we had free mimosas one day, a beer tasting another, and a yogurt parfait day as well. So it’s nice to have those fun little extras especially cause drinks and food are not cheap on the island. It was very relaxing and nice for a family. We stayed on the island the whole time. Overall this is a great place to spend time with family. It was quiet. I had some neighboring villas having parties but they ended by 10 and were not too loud.

We bought here once 10 years ago when the mission seemed to be to please, service and ensure the needs of owners at this property were met first. They also had events, more service options and the service/ attitude was 2nd to none. We are owners and this was our 1st visit here. Westin did not disappoint. From arrival to departure, I felt taken care of. The villa was amazing, comfortable, with stylish decor. The layout was a little off. Like you had to squeeze into spaces if you opened a door. Weird, but only a slight inconvenience. Shuttles are all across the property so you don't have to walk. Plus, you can call for 1 before you even leave your room or pick up a yellow phone to request 1. Everyone was nice. We were greeted on arrival to a nice rum punch cocktail. Non-alcoholic versions are available as well. Our luggage was delivered to our villa. We were checked in so quick. I've never gotten checked in without a "process" before. We asked for a resort tour around the property. It was nice.✅️ It may be cheaper to take the public ferry ⛴️ and all to the resort but I recommend going thru Westin. Iguanas 🦎 big and small love the island so brace yourself. 1 day, I even saw a stork. Gorgeous 😍 Deer are around too, but I'm used to them. 1 last tip. You have to take a taxi for almost any and everything because Cruz Bay is the closest town and not within walking distance. Probably not a safe walk either. The roads there are hilly,narrow, curvy, and I felt death was near every time 😂 Also, unless you are used to driving on the opposite side of the road, don't rent a car. Taxis are cheaper anyway. Or stay at the resort. You don't have to leave because they have everything. Unless you're a beach person. Taxis will take you. Westin has a wonderful pool but not a beach.

Three time owners and I can say without hesitation this property has gone down hill completely. Rooms are outdated and the staff are uneducated. Ownership is not like it was. We pay resort fees for other non owners to enjoy the resort. Since the Marriot take over this property has gone down hill drastically. We paid higher resort fees for a playground that has taken three years to begin construction. Most of the visitors are adults! The three bedroom unit we were in had construction happening on the unit directly above us. The noise started at 8 am. They hit a pipe and caused one of the bedrooms in our unit to flood. They sent an engineer over to assess the damage. We were moved to a different villa at 9 pm. We were told it would be the same type of three bedroom villa. It was not. Then we were told we were lucky to have a place to stay. Less than 12 hours later when we asked to go back to the old unit to get something left behind, we were told housekeeping already prepped it for the next guest. When asked about the water damage, the front desk just shrugged her shoulders. The phones in the rooms do not work. There is only one AC thermostat for the entire unit. The bedrooms are hot. You need a cab to go almost anywhere. Westin has its own cabs which is handy. Getting around to get food or go off the resort is costly. We are only three days into this vacation and it feels like a mistake.

We booked Gallows point resort for 5 Days in August. We were excited to stay here after reading a lot of the other reviews. Upon checking in at 3 pm (check in time) we were told that our room was not ready yet due to som issues with the bathroom. We waited for an hour in the lobby in the sweltering heat until we were moved to a different room because the issue was still going on. Upon checking into the new room (4B) the smell of chemicals and cleaner was so strong we had to open all windows and leave the room for 3 hours while it aired out. The smell made both my wife and I ill. We waited by the pool for 2 hours, then went back to the room to try to get ready for our 630 dinner reservation at 1864 (which was absolutely amazing!) When we arrived back to the room it still smelled so we had to then shower and get ready in a room where the temperature was now over 90 degrees due to us having to have the windows open to air it out. The rooms are ok, the furniture def needs an upgrade in the living room but that wasn’t an issue, we could live with that. I will say the ONE positive thing was that when we got back from dinner and were able to shut the windows and turn on the AC, the AC was the best AC we experienced on our 14 day trip. Here’s where the nightmare really begins. We arrive home from dinner and rinse off and get ready to go to bed. Upon laying down on the mattress, we both knew were were in for a long night. The mattress was the worst mattress I’ve ever slept on and has to be at least 20 years old. It was awful. There was also an extremely bright light outside (resort light) that we had no way to block out or turn off. (Imagine trying to sleep in a tanning bed with the lights on and on your Grandmothers mattress). So my wife tossed and turned for a couple hours. You would think it couldn’t get any worse right? WRONG! Around 2am a loud beeping noise starts outside of our room and continues until 7am where we found out that this was due to something wrong with the sewer. This was the absolute worst night of sleep I have ever attempted, worse then sleeping on the floor of an airport overnight, worse then camping in sub zero weather, pure torture. At 7am we exit our room to see the workers. They apologized for the intrusion and began working on the sewer equipment to clear some sort of clog that the alarm was notifying them off. I carried all our our luggage to the front desk, explained that we would be checking out and moving to a new hotel due to the torturous night we experienced here. The lady at the front desk was very apologetic and nice and we were on our way. One week later I checked the hotel bill and noticed we did not receive any type of refund for the remaining nights that we did not stay there. I contacted the front office thinking this must be some kind of oversight. I figured it would be worked out easily and we could move on. WRONG. Apparently it states “ No refunds for early departures will be issued.” listed in the cancelation policy. So I’m being charged $2000,00 because I refused to endure 4 more continued nights of torture at their resort. This place is an absolute scam, DO NOT STAY here. In the end, even if they would have told me upon checking out that I wasn’t going to get my money back, I still would have left and made the same decision I did because no one should have to endure the type of torture you will endure if you choose to try to get some rest at this resort. I’ll be contacting my credit card company and reporting this scam. What a wonderful way to spend our anniversary. Do check out the wharfside village. It’s a lovely hotel

The grounds are vast and lovely to stroll around but there are shuttles to take you where you want to go. Each group of rooms has pretty much a private beach. Never had more than 3 people out snorkeling with us. Very peaceful and private. They also clean/rake the beaches twice a day to keep them at their best. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The best part was having the beach 10 steps away from our patio and watching the mongoose darting around all over the place. The only con about the whole resort was the price of food in the restaurants. Even a bottle of water was outrageous. We weren't able to leave the resort but they do have a taxi stand where you can get a ride into town or private ferry to take you back and forth to St Thomas. Aside from the expensive food, this place just can't be beat! All gear/water activities included. Just have a plan for meals/drinks and enjoy this fantastic resort!

The umbrella on our deck flew off with the wind and was never replaced. There was a leak in our room that made the floor dangerously wet daily right by the entrance door, they never addressed. They did not come for turndown service on our last night (because by then they just want you gone), and then refused to accommodate us just for a few extra minutes of late checkout so we would have time to enjoy our last day as much as possible. They made us take a 12:15PM ferry that was too early for our flight and we were miserable at the airport for 4 hours. The trailhead is located right behind the visitor center and across the small parking lot. This is the cheapest way to go to some of the beaches. There are some stairs going up which takes you to an access road and then you head up the road for maybe 100 feet and then the trail continues up again some more rustic stone steps. We were ready with Keens and other closed toe hiking/water sandals and had no problems with the trail. I would not recommend flipflops at all. We took the lower trail on the way to the beaches. Elevation wasn't terrible (you can check on alltrails). While the trail was maintained it was pretty rocky with very uneven footing at times. There are also multiple splits in the trail which aren't all posted on google or the park maps and the signage could be better. Because St. John is US territory, you can turn on your phone and get GPS location (we have verizon). This worked great for us. We stopped by Salomons beach first. It has multiple entrances and multiple trails from Lind Point to the beach. We got a little confused but all the trails from the Lower Lind Point will get you there. We then hiked over to Honeymoon beach. On the way back we hiked the upper Lind Point trail and stopped by the overlook for a couple mins. Great view. We had a 8, 11 and 14 yr old with us but we're also very outdoorsy and do lots of hiking. We went in with 3 backpacks with our towels, water, beach blanket and snorkel gear. Both beaches were amazing and even through we reached them around noon time, it wasn't SUPER crowded at the beach. We found spot to set up in the shade of some trees. We didn't look to hard but didn't notice any bathrooms either. Might want to go back at the visitor center before you start. We would definitely do this trail again as it was very interesting as we aren't used to the ecology of the area. There were many lizards, birds and cactus. Surprisingly we didn't encounter many flying insects either. Not a mosquito in sight.

The parking is pretty tight as you just pull over into any dirt spot you can find and make sure you're not sticking out into the road. The trail from the road down to the old sugar mill and back, had us at about 6 miles while checking out some of the small outlets. It is all downhill from the road so you'll have a bit of a hike back up but it was a beautiful trail. We spotted lots of hermit crabs and even a few Mongooses. It's such a beautiful hike I can see why so many people enjoy it. We are fairly active and had no difficulty with the steeper parts - just a little winded at times. It was a perfect day - Low 80s with a nice breeze. I could see it being more challenging if it were really hot. The trail is in very nice condition. There are a few rocky spots and its likely to be slippery when wet but I would not hesitate to do it again. There are some lovely views, as well as some interesting ruins from the former sugar plantations. It is well shaded, which makes its a pleasant trail on a sunny day. As advised, be sure to bring some water and perhaps a few snacks. Next time we would likely go the rest of the way to the coast (we had plans to swim at Maho Bay so we decided to go as far as the Petroglyphs).

From the second we arrived on the dock, we were treated with such warm and bespoke hospitality. Took the Lovango ferry out St Thomas for a short ride to the island just for dinner. We were one of 10 guests there as the season is coming to an end. We were treated like royalty by everyone we came into contact with. We came for dinner and were concerned that we would be ready to go back before the ferry was ready to take us. Dinner was 5 to 8 PM. We ended with about an hour to spare, but there were so many beautiful spots to explore and yard games, such as life-size chess, cornhole, tic-tac-toe, among others. My husband and I enjoyed after dinner drinks while our two kids let off some wiggles. The food was phenomenal. We ordered the tuna and the filet mignon. They had a great children's menu as well. The artisan breads were yummy and the homemade ice cream for dessert finished off a beautiful evening. It's perfectly lit at night, music is just the right vibe and volume, the breeze is heavenly, and you can hear the waves gently lapping the shores. The staff at Lovango went far and above with customer service because we realized after our return to St. John that my husband had dropped/lost the key fob to our rental car. We called them and they immediately looked around with no luck initially, however the next day they did find the key and contacted us and made arrangements to bring it to us. They went above & beyond to help us and we can't thank them enough! We WILL RETURN and next time my husband and I will plan to stay at the resort as well!! Thank you to all of the kind Lovango staff!! You made our Christmas 2024 perfect!!

My husband, who is also an executive chef at a boutique hotel on St. Thomas, really appreciated the connection and the attention to detail. For anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or just enjoy a memorable evening, I can't recommend Lovango Resort enough. The resort and staff go above and beyond to create an unforgettable experience. We’ll definitely be back!

All starter foods but also not great options. Other than that this place is A MUST SEE. You know the feeling of euphoria you get after a good, long hike and you see the beauty at the top? The parking is super limited but if you're there by 830am you can usually find a spot. Amazing beach with soft sand, crystal clear water and no crowds. The snorkeling was good especially for beginners as the waters are pretty calm. We found conch, a sea turtle, and lots of schools of fish. In the shallows in front of Oppenheimers house there are fish that nibble your toes that our kids found hilarious. We visited most of the beaches on the island during our stay and this was our favorite by far.

We stayed in Congo, part of the new building which had a great view of Cruz Bay. We were excited to see beach chairs, cooler, and beach towels included with our room—we used these at North Shore beaches every day of the trip. We did not have a jeep rental (under 25), but the location of Estate Lindholm allowed us to easily walk down to dinner at mongoose junction (or catch a cab), and easily catch cabs to all of the NPS beaches farther down the road. This B&B had a charming atmosphere with a lovely view. It was in a great location - within easy walking distance of Cruz Bay (a quarter mile) and of multiple hiking trails, including some down to the beaches. We ended up abandoning many of our initial, more touristy plans to follow their suggestions. We walked into Cruz Bay and home every evening for drinks/dinner. The road down is ~.2 miles and is a steeper hill so easier down then up but for us it was very manageable and it had nice views along the short walk and saved us the hassle of finding a place to park or wait for a taxi. Would be a tough walk if you have bad knees however but taxis are easy to come by and its a very short trip into town. Hiking and beaches right outside the hotel. The place was always clean with beautiful gardens and flowers as a special touch cut every morning by Leo. The owners were very helpful and amazing hosts, along with their staff. It felt very intimate and homey and we really enjoyed getting to talk about the island, Exchange travel stories, hear things to see on the island and plan what bays may have the best snorkeling that day with Tim, Savannah and Brian every morning on the veranda. Breakfast on the veranda was fresh and simple. Fruit, yogurt, cereal, hard boiled eggs, muffins, bagels, coffee and juices. Though located on the main road, we never heard cars driving by, though sounds from cruz Bay would travel up the hills pretty easily, yet it was still quieter then being down on the bay itself. The noises of nature - birds and tree frogs probably drowned out most of any noise!

Could not have picked a more perfect place to stay. The estate is perfectly located overlooking Cruz Bay and right next to the Virgin Island National Park. Breakfast on the patio each morning included enjoyable conversation with Brion (owner) and his daughter Savanna discussing your plans and offering suggestions on points of interest to make the most of your visit. Each room included beach chairs, portable cooler, beach towels, and floating noodles that were nice little conveniences that made the stay even more enjoyable. Estate Lindholm has an on-site generator. The island lost power overnight during our stay for approximately 12 hours, we did not notice. The house was absolutely fantastic, spacious and fully equipped. The view was stunning. Sunsets every night felt like a dream. This was our third trip to the island and the location was very convenient to the beaches, grocery store, and restaurants. Jasmine Villa did not disappoint! The bedrooms and family area were fresh and clean and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and such. It is walkable to all of the great bars and restaurants, the ferry terminal, and the trailhead to the Solomon and Honeymoon Beach hike. We stayed in the “penthouse” room which offered a spacious bedroom, bath, living area, and full kitchen with refrigerator. It was very clean and the room attendants were amazing! The hotel provided us with fresh drinking water to fill our bottles, free Bags of ice, and coolers and beach chairs to take with us on our adventure! The last day, My Husband lost his wallet on the beach, and when someone returned it, the owner of the hotel was nice enough to mail it back to us in North Carolina. We will never stay anywhere else when we visit St. John! If you are considering this hotel, I highly recommend it!

Has 2 spots to park your car for dropping your luggage off so don’t stress out about that if using a car. If you pair this place up with Courtesy car rentals then park your car there and stay here, it’s the best of both worlds as having a car is the way to go on STJ. Rooms had great air conditioning and a comfortable bed which is all we needed as we were outside exploring most of the day. Coffee in morning, muffins, oatmeal which was clutch for our early wake up times when we wanted to get up and go. I’d use them again in the future. One of the more affordable places on STJ where you’re getting good value for your $. The location is 10/10. It is so easy to get anywhere from here too. Thanks again!

Because we booked all 3 suites, our 5 and 7 year olds were able to join us and we fit perfectly in the largest suite. We could not have asked for a more perfect stay. The B&B is simply beautiful - the perfect combination of an island and jungle feel (the showers were a big highlight!) the shared living space was perfect for outdoor breakfasts and late night card games, and although we did some light shopping ourselves, the kitchen was very well stocked! The honest bar system was a perk as well! The rooms were comfortable, always cool enough, and beds super comfy! It wasn’t walkable to town for our entire party, as it is a bit hilly / the trail can be tricky at night, but my husband, kiddos and I walked to and from town daily ! It was a fun walk and short enough. We also rented their Jeep - definitely a must! While everything was amazing, Eileen and John’s daily breakfasts took the cake. I cannot say enough about how delicious and beautifully prepared the meals were. We absolutely loved our stay - and loved their recommendations and the island so much that we are already in the process of booking round 2. Thank you, Garden by the Sea!!

Eileen and John are the most welcoming hosts. There was never a shortage of great conversations and amazing food (and coffee prepared by John) prepared by Eileen every morning. Everything we ate for breakfast was delicious. The property itself is beautiful and the location is great. The rooms are well appointed, and the beds were very nice as well. The rooms also have AC! We opted to not rent a car so when looking for a place to stay, being able to walk to town was a must. The walk is about 10 minutes down an easy path and then only one hill (and an easy hill by St. John standards). We definitely cannot wait to return and hope to do so soon! I cannot recommend this place enough.

It was a gorgeous beach with full amenities from restrooms, restaurant, gift shop and water rentals. They also had chairs for rent. Amazing boats come in and out of the bay all day long. We hoped the 10 minute ferry over from St. Thomas and rented a golf cart to spend our day here. It was totally worth a day trip here.
