Although it’s only small, there’s nice semi-covered seating outside, and very dog friendly. Quality cappuccino, yes a little pricier than other local options, but this is a great step up from any coffee in the area. The best coffee in all the golden triangle. Only improvement would be better milk varieties (would love to see almond or another nut milk available!) and some separation of their cake selection. It’s nice they offer vegan and gluten free options, but there is cross contamination between them (stored side-by-side, same implements used) so maybe little boxes or sections would make it allergy friendly.

I had a truly disappointing experience the other day at Bread Source Bakery. I proceeded to climb the stairs to the outside patio. It was sunny, but it had rained earlier. The outdoor seats had pooled a great deal of rainwater and consequently were too wet to use. A business that took the comfort of its customers seriously, would have placed the chairs leaning at an angle to the tables, to prevent rainwater collecting on the chairs and rendering them unusable for customers. I had the upstairs to myself, though I wasn't completely alone. There was a collection of easy to grow pot plants that looked more ill at ease and unloved than me. They were parched dry, and though they were ostensibly ornamenting a vegan café, one imagined that they'd be a little bit better loved in an abattoir. Keeping them company was a little posse of very friendly flies, who more than made up for the attitude below stairs, by playfully circling my head and chasing one another in a very naughty and lascivious fashion. The vegan cake we ordered was extremely dry and inedible, and the gluten-free muffins — which I used to enjoy — were half the size they used to be and covered in an overly thick layer of buttercream, lacking the freshness and balance they once had. Most recently, we returned to give the café another chance, but unfortunately the experience confirmed our concerns. We ordered toast with “homemade jam” and were served a single slice of bread — resembling a basic supermarket loaf — with jam that did not appear to be homemade. When we queried this, a second slice was eventually provided but served warm and without butter, and the staff response felt dismissive. Having initially parked near Elm street we realised we were a little bit of a walk away. Lesson learned. The cafe its self is light and spacious but we were greeted and served by the most wonderful friendly staff. Normally people go for the amazing and well know breakfast but at 12:30pm felt a bit much. I opted for a toasties and my friend opted for a wrap. Both with triple cooked chips. The food as expected was lovely. And the triple cooked chips were crunchy outside and soft inside. Really nice. The meals came with a lovely salad and coleslaw and we struggled to finish it in the end. A very nice flat white and americano served with biscoff biscuits were the perfect thing to wash down. This is a great little place to eat and worth a visit if in Norwich but may have to plan parking.

I had read lots of good reviews about the salads at this place so was initially very disappointed to find that the ‘build a salad’ option was for some strange reason only available for take away not for eat in customers. The salamis and hams, cheeses, and olives were varied and in generous portions…and the assorted fruit plate - melons, kiwi, grapes etc - was lovely and very atractively presented. Instead of the assorted cakes, I ordered a whole cheesecake (on the personal recommendation of one of the very lovely staff members!). Yet another good choice for it was delicious! Tip: best when not just out of the fridge! A slight miscommunication became apparent upon collection, but it was sorted out in the blink of an eye, absolutely effortlessly! So in addition to being able to recommend them for the buffet they supplied, I can genuinely compliment them highly on their fabulous customer service! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I should also add here that on every occasion I visit the store, - which is often, for olives!! - the staff are consistently delightful, and therefore it is always a pleasure to visit! Would I do anything differently for a future event? Yes! I would ensure I got myself to the olive counter in person PRIOR to order, to sample their every variety. Why? My overall experience however left me feeling disappointed and somewhat ripped off. I went for the eggs Royale. It did not disappoint at all. First of all, it's a nice clean restaurant. The staff are lovely and make you feel welcome as soon as you come through the door. The welcome was warm and the tables are nicely spread out. Light music in the background. We tried the white sauvignon which was great. Smooth and very easy drinking. Unfortunately the mains were a let down. Lamb shoulder ragu. Great pasta, but the dish was far too salty for both of us and bitter strong with garlic. We couldn't taste the lamb. As with each dish we were asked if everything was OK and I was honest and my feedback was listened to and respected which was great. We both had dessert of tiramisu.. it was delicious.. crunchy, rich, creamy, chocolatey and in the centre a hit of coffee. We were also refunded the dessert on the basis of our experience with the main dish which wasn't expected but was really lovely of them. With tip it £70 each. A confusing quick phone search for meat related lunch stops in Norwich (whilst visiting for the day) led us to this place by happenstance - the stars actually aligned to save us from some pot luck lunch disaster. Great quirky location from an unassuming frontage... friendly, relaxed and knowledgeable staff are just the right side of attentive, menu was just excellent for a lunch... and food was sublime... and i really mean that. Flavours, colours and textures were so thoughtfully put together. Great being able to see the kitchen and workings, feeling part of an organic process works better than more formal settings for me. All the staff were lovely and seemed to be keenly invested in their task, and more than happy to humour our ignorance of the history, menu, ingredients and cooking processes when quizzed...we are quite inquisitive diners. I know we're not the first to discover it, clearly, and it must be a poorly kept secret locally, but it felt like that to us somehow... I absolutely loved it, it was meant to be.
