Featherstone is truly a magical place for art lovers on Martha’s Vineyard. I recently stopped in there with my brother that was visiting from the Dominican Republic and it was just the perfect snowy and sunny day, so the light was extra beautiful in the gallery where we enjoyed seeing one of the exhibitions that had over 75 artists represented!
I also love that this community organization is always developing new events and classes to keep the island community invested in the arts year-round!

This place, like most other shops on the island, is a pleasure to visit. The staff was friendly and not pushy. Everything seemed clean and well organized, and all the products (art, mostly for sale) was great quality. I will say that the prices are about 100X what I'd pay, but art is subjective.

Penumbra Photography is an excellent store. We were on a girls trip and wandered in on a whim, and Eugene, the owner, was *amazing*. I love collecting art or buying gifts while on travels so this was such a good find. Eugene was helpful answering questions about how he sources photographs, his matting process, his research, his book collection, running a business in Edgartown, and so much more. We had an amazing conversation for probably half an hour. We're all from out of town and he was incredibly helpful getting the two of us who made purchases set up to ship our purchases home so they could arrive safely. I do some of my own matting for artwork and he also gave me some great tips and passed on a really great resource to order my own gallery frames.
Honestly, meeting Eugene was a highlight of our trip. We talked about him all weekend! You don't find many people living out a passion in such a gracious and generous way, and with a true level of professionalism and talent. I'm so happy we stopped in and look forward to visiting again and shopping in the future. Thank you, Eugene!
UPDATE: 8/6: I just have to give an update. My package arrived today and, to no surprise, Eugene packed it SO thoughtfully in layers of cardboard cushioning, lightweight pressed wood, and all taped together securely. It arrived in PERFECT condition! Absolutely no bends, dents, or wrinkles. Eugene even included a thoughtful note. The photo I bought is for my best friend for Christmas, so I'm probably going to wrap it right back up to keep it safe while we wait for the holidays.
