(原文) This very short hike follows a smooth cement walkway to a viewpoint on the west rim of the Island in the Sky mesa. There are panoramic views of the Green River Basin with its many canyons, with the White Rim in the foreground and the Henry Mountains in the distance. The scenery is dramatic, with layered cliffs, winding canyons, and vast open skies that look especially magical at sunset.
(原文) The park is definitely underrated!!! (原文) This is a part of Canyonlands that I and my boyfriend chose to explore. One of the reasons is that it was the easiest to access for us, as the other national park's parts required hours of driving. The area doesn't have many roads to drive on, so you will very probably just follow the recommended stops and enjoy the views from the top of the canyons.

(原文) I personally loved this hike because of the super unique red and orange petroglyphs!! I didn't see too many others posting photos of them, as they are unmarked and easy to miss. They can be found near the cave spring. As for the rest of the trail, the 2 ladders were a fun surprise, although there is 1 tricky step right after you climb the first ladder that might make some nervous. 1 mile dirt road to trailhead very well maintained accessible for all vehicles. The trail took me about 40 minutes to complete. Highly recommended if you like cool petroglyphs.
Caitlin S — Google review
(原文) This is an easy fun loop for kids as they get to climb 2 ladders and play find the trail markers game. More on that in a second. Being an interpretive trail, there is a lot to read about the flora around the trail if you so choose. If not, the trail itself takes you under several overhangs with the preserved cowboy camp and the spring well being the two major items. After the ladders, the trail goes over a rocky section. This us were the kids get to track down the trail markers to find your way out. These markers are stacked rocks spread out over the rocks.
Adam C — Google review
(原文) It’s listed as an easy stroll which it is if you want to go out and back. If you want to do the loop it requires climbing 2 different ladders and jumping over a small rock fissure. I’m afraid of heights but managed it. I recommend going left to start the loop because you’ll see the old buildings and the cave spring before hitting a ladder. Plus you’ll go up the ladders, not down which seems less scary to me. Once up the ladders it’s a pretty easy hike across the slip rock with great views. The trail winds gently down and you don’t have to go down ladders. Along the path, you’ll wind in and out of caves, some with pictographs, which was super cool. We finished our day with this hike and it was perfect. Stop at newspaper rock either on the way in or out. Sooooo many petroglyphs! About 20 steps from the parking area, almost zero effort for a nice reward. We stopped at 4:30 and it wasn’t crowded at all.
Michelle T — Google review
(原文) This is my personal favorite trail in the Moab area. Most of the trail is shaded by the surrounding cliffs or inside of caves, so the temperature here is usually cooler. The Cowboy campsite is also amazing to see.
Noah D — Google review
(原文) This was a fun stop and gave us a chance to stretch our legs. Along the trail there were ladders to climb onto the slick rock above and provided an opportunity to enjoy the surrounding landscape of Needles Park. It was fun exploring how rugged the Cowboys and Indians had to be in order to survive in this harsh landscape, while the formations are magnificent, it is also an unforgiving land as well. It was fun to find that there were some ancient pictographs that have survived the passage of time and were in excellent condition. All in all this was a fun side trip, you should take the time to enjoy as well.
Joseph D — Google review
(原文) This trail has everything you could want in a hike. There was an old cowboy camp that you pass, signs labeling all the plant life, ancient cave drawings, and an incredible view at the top. It isn't a trail for people who want a casual hike, though. You have to climb two ladders and there is a bit of scrambling necessary if you want to get to the viewpoint.
Elizabeth V — Google review
(原文) This is a nice, short walk to view the historic cowboy camp and surrounding area. Be aware there is a ladder to climb to get on top of the rocks. Fascinating spot.
David L — Google review
Near the end there is an exhibit of old artifacts from a settler / hunter camp of questionable provenance. The views here are nice and the hike is a good one, but it pales in comparison to the other hikes found within the Needles. Recommended, but only if you have already seen/have enough time to see some of the other sites and hike some of the other trails here

It is south of the Candlestick Overlook and north of the White Rim Overlook. Parking at the trailhead is limited (with less than 10 spots). So get there early in the day to avoid disappointment. This very short hike follows a smooth, paved walkway to a point on the east rim of the Island in the Sky mesa overlooking Buck Canyon. There are panoramic views of the Colorado River Basin with its many canyons, with the White Rim in the foreground and the La Sal Mountains in the distance.
(原文) A great area to hike. This place is absolutely stunning and magical. I tracked 11.59 miles hiking the Chesler Park Loop.

(原文) I felt prompted to review the trail itself (Chesler Park). But what really blew my mind that Sunday two weeks ago was the Needles area. It was a huge reward to make it here because the stem of the trail is three miles long. We spotted a lot of lizards on the way up the stem. 🦎 Once you get there, the Needle towers are incredible. For me it felt like exploring an ancient dried up civilization, it was absurd. A part of the loop went through a massive cave leading into a system of slots canyons. The urge to boulder my way up the walls of the three-foot-wide passages was unexplainable. I made it about 10 or so feet up before deciding it was a bit dangerous. It seems there is SO much more to explore, on every part of the loop, so really hoping I get the chance to come back soon!

I would highly recommend this. We started our hike at the Elephant Hill parking lot/trail head and backpacked in to the EC2 camp site. We camped there amongst some of the most beautiful scenery you will find. The next day we hiked to Druid Arch then up to Chestler Park then returned back to our vehicles. Take lots of water! Each person in our group packed 6-7 liters of water, which was just about right. Temps in the mid 80’s in the day. I wouldn’t want to go when it was any hotter.

As an off road challenge, if looking for something more serious, this trail will feel a little dull but there are areas to offshoot to if you desire.
(原文) This trail has a bit of a scramble over steep stairs and rocks if you struggle with mobility or just need that extra insurance I would recommend using poles as some of the stairs are pretty high and there is a lot of uneven ground. There is some slick rock so on icy days might help to bring traction gear. Starts off with a short steep scramble. There are two overlook points, and the trail all the way around is an 8.1 mile strenuous hike. Lots of picnic shelters at the trail head with vault toilets, moderate amount of parking.

(原文) A stunning geological work of art created by nature either (spolier) created by salt or a meteor - let's go with space because that's cooler. The colors of the rock and sand in this crater are surreal- with sandy beiges, red rock and green! The hike can be strenuous as it is mostly uphill to see the viewpoints of the dome. The first view point is straight down perspective and the second paints the full picture. So we would def recommend to take the time to go to both. Parking though is extremely limited but there are tables and benches for like a picnic which we loved as after a long hike, we enjoyed lunch.

(原文) Follow the Grand View Point Trail for approximately 0.9 miles until you reach the overlook. The best view of the canyons below is from the very top of the rocks, but the bouldering to top is not for everyone. At this point, you will be standing at the edge of a precipice, surrounded by an endless expanse of rust-hued canyons, towering rock formations, and labyrinthine river systems. This scenic wonder will leave you awestruck and inspired. From this location, the overlook offers an unparalleled panorama of Canyonlands National Park's majestic beauty. To the north, the rugged expanse of the Island in the Sky district, to the east there are the towering spires and deep valleys of the Maze district. Today, with crystal clear blue skies we could even see the distant snow-capped peaks of the La Sal Mountains. Finally, if time is not an issue, we recommend staying around as the sun begins to set, that is when the sky becomes even more magical. As the sun sets over the horizon, the sky becomes ablaze with hues of pink, orange, and purple, casting a golden glow over the entire scene. All we can say, it is a moment that will stay with you long after you leave the park, a reminder of the untamed beauty that lies just beyond the horizon.

Island in the Sky (Willow Flat) Campground is a rustic camping option within Canyonlands National Park, offering 12 campsites on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground provides picnic tables, toilets, and fire rings. It's recommended to arrive early as spots fill up quickly. The campsite offers a cool atmosphere under man-made canopies and is close to the beautiful Green River Overlook.

(原文) Very beautiful but beware the lack of shade! I found A2 to have the best afternoon shade by far. My site was B27. Fairly deserted due to the extreme heat. Novice hikers should be EXTREMELY careful as most of the trails are really not for beginners. Footholds in rockfaces, ladders and creative climbing seems to be the norm. Park is very well maintained and let’s be real…just plain stunning.

(原文) One of the coolest campsites we stayed at on an extended road trip. Canyonlands and specifically The Needles is some of the coolest landscape you can see in the US, and the campground reflects that well. Also, truly incredible stargazing. The bathrooms were extremely clean and had soap (which is a high bar unfortunately with the current funding state of our national parks right now) - however, be aware there are no lights so bring your head lamp at night. Water was potable but did taste pretty awful to me personally. Still, would highly recommend staying here to experience the park, such a cool setting and great experience overall

The main bathroom and the pit toilets were both very clean and had air fresheners. The sites are fairly private, mostly level, and had great views. The stars were glorious. Wished we could have stayed more than one night. There is so much to see in the Needles District. The campground was formerly called "Squaw Flats Campground", but the NPS updated the name to "Elephant Hill Campground" which is an excellent decision. Each campsite had AT LEAST one tent pad. Site 20 had two. Site 19 had three. There is aluminum and plastic recycling near the regular garbage cans. The NPS does a great job. A lovely site like that for $20 a night (or $10 with the senior card.) However there was no cellular for Verizon, but my husband got up at 3am and was able to get some of his emails and texts on AT&T. If you need your phone, forget it.

We only made it to the bottom of the butte and didn't head up because all the uphill hiking we did over the last few days but you can tell there is incredible views up there of the grassy hills and plains on one side and the canyons on the other. Don't be lazy like us and make the effort. (原文) I wish I could leave negative stars. Where do I even start. The directions were confusing. The bathrooms were abhorrent, the campsites were run down, but honestly I’m leaving this review because the owner of this establishment is insanely rude, passive aggressive, and controlling. I have never been treated so badly as a paying customer. We have been traveling for many years and have never once had a problem at a campsite. The woman at the front desk( I believe Amber) was immediately aggressive towards me about the 5 mph speed limit during check in, I was told at least 5 more times during our stay despite at times literally driving like 2 or 3 mph. When I defended my efforts to obey the speed limit she cussed at me and threatened to kick me out. It feels like this woman genuinely hates her own customers. It feels like the opposite of customer service in the way that she expects each guest to cater to her every need. Including a long list of rules which she explained upon arrival and has posted all over the place on passive aggressive signs. (See photos) Every moment of our stay felt like walking on eggshells to not upset her rules or her ego. We stayed only one night even though we originally booked for two. Luckily we were able to make other arrangements so we didn’t have to stay another night in this toxic place. The showers are not free with your stay and she seemed extremely controlling over how much water you were allowed to use during your actual shower. The bathrooms were disgusting and run down. There were holes in the walls and ceiling tiles missing all over the place. Seems how the men and women’s bathrooms share a wall you can stand in the men’s bathroom and see the ceiling in the women’s bathroom which is creepy and I believe a code violation.(see photos) I would not recommend this place to anyone. It has a beautiful view but is unfortunately ruined by the host.

We were on our way to the needles district and needed fuel and bathroom break so we stopped in around 7 PM. (原文) We LOVED our four nights at this AMAZING location!!! 1.5 miles from Canyonlands National Park! We were able to easily bike right into the park. The night skies are incredible (so many stars!!!) and the views in every direction are literally breathtaking, especially at sunrise and sunset. It’s sooo quiet, it’s easy to feel completely disconnected from civilization. The Outpost store has the basics, a few specialty items (loved the cold Ginger Kombucha after a long day of hiking) and cute gifts (but watch out for that tan cat!) Caleb and Amber were so helpful with local tips on hikes and artifact sites, we really enjoyed chatting with them. Tip: camp against the red rock wall for extra shade in the morning, or choose the west side if you want early morning sun. This is a special and truly unique place, I’m so glad we got to experience its magic. The bathrooms could use some love, but they were always clean, stocked with paper, the water got super hot in the shower with great pressure for washing off that red Canyonlands dirt! Bring your primal spirit, and tough it out for your stay (and some water shoes for the shower.) With all this incredible location has to offer, if rundown bathrooms are a dealbreaker for you, look elsewhere. Otherwise, you’ll totally love it here.

(原文) We arrived at 10 am and was 75 at the Needles visitor center. Light breeze and felt perfect. You have to drive an unpaved road to the Elephant hill trailhead. It was pretty firm and smooth but one car wide. We didn’t get much traffic at 10:20 am. Four wheel drive would be helpful but not essential. The hike was magnificent. From the parking lot it’s a steep climb up over stone steps. It’s fairly technical so it actually wasn’t too tiring because you have to go slowly to watch your footing. Once you’re up, it’s a nice basically flat surface over slip rock and packed dirt. Slip rock is not at all slippery. It’s like walking on a really poorly smoothed sidewalk. You cross several rocky passes included an amazing crack in the rock about as wide as Duane the Rock Johnson’s shoulders. You descend gradually to a plain with vegetation and an easy path. Eventually you reach a river bottom and get the final climb up to the view at the top. Again it’s technical and this was the hardest part of the trail as you’re stepping up on boulders that are definitely not conforming to any building code for steps. My legs were pretty much toast. The view at the top is beautiful and make sure to look both ways from the viewpoint. I thought, however, that the journey was the true reward. I’ve never seen so much amazing variety. Poles while probably not essential felt pretty darn important to me. The weather was warm (90 when we got back at 2:45pm) but there was a breeze almost everywhere (and a fierce wind at the top of the viewpoint) and it felt a lot cooler. It was my favorite hike that we had done so far.

(原文) This trail is presumably the only safe way to get up-close to the rock spires after which the Needles District is named. To get to the trailhead, you need to drive 3 miles of unpaved, narrow and bumpy road (my RWD sedan made it back in one-piece, I believe any car can do it). In fact, there is a pullout midway of the drive offering a glimpse of the Needles, where you can decide whether to further invest the time and effort. Be considerate and drive safe, there are various blind points. In addition to constant elevation changes and uneven trail surface, some simple rock scrambling and navigating between tiny spaces are also required. Approximately 1 mile into the hike, the view of the gorgeous rock spires opened up. While the magnificent view caught me by surprise, I attest that the views could only get better. After a brief descend, the trail diverges where you can choose between Druid Arch (3 miles ONE WAY from this point) or Chesler Park Viewpoint. I chose the latter with the intention to hike to Druid Arch in the returning trip. By the time I finished soaking the unparalleled scenery of these fascinating rock spires, it was almost 2 pm and the sun was too unforgiving. Unfortunately, I had to give up Druid Arch. Sunsceen is a must. There is NO shade throughout the trail. Bring more water than you think you will ever need. When I unloaded under the heaven-like air-conditioning of my car, I had finished almost all 6 bottles of water. The official trail guide indicates that the trail to Chesler Park Viewpoint is 6 miles round-trip. Despite that I did not hike all the way to the viewpoint, it took me 6 hours (including rest and soaking the views). My impression is that it was far more than 6 miles. Nevertheless, the investment was well paid-off!

(原文) Awesome experience hiking here during the end of March. We did the Chesler Park Loop and connected with the Druid Arch trail which ended up being about a 17 mile hike (~7 hours). We are rather fit, late 20-somethings but I would probably not do the 17-mile hike again but rather extend the trails into two days and camp (my knees were not happy with me the next day). However, totally doable if you bring enough wanted and take breaks! Chesler Park has a nice rest area about halfway through the loop with some tables for picnicking and a bathroom (no toilet paper or hand sanitizer when I was there). The views were were absolutely amazing - huge panoramic views of the beautiful needles (although we saw them more resembling mushrooms). You walk through a really cool slot canyon-like area which was awesome since we didn’t get to visit others in Southern UT. Druid Arch was absolutely crazy - DEFINITELY worth the extra 4 miles it added on. One of the coolest arches I’ve seen in the area (Delicate, Landscape, Double O, and Druid were my favorites in the area). The hike to and from Druid (if you don’t take Chesler) were not super scenic but still cool to hike along the bottom of the canyons. Highly recommend a trip here in the Needles District of Canyonlands if you’re up for a long hike - it is definitely worth it. BRING ENOUGH WATER!!!!

(原文) Easily the very best Canyonlands has to offer, any district within the park at that. There are a variety of intersecting trails here and a road for campsites. It will likely require four wheel drive especially in any wet or winter climate! What an incredible piece of nature… We went in January early, almost nobody there. We utilized AllTrails for the map, and did the “Joint Trailhead”, it’s about 13 miles or less. Took us about 6 hours, we had heard counter clockwise but it doesn’t matter truly. It’s a tough trail only in that it’s long, otherwise anyone could do it with a little skill and climbing up moderate boulders and a few steep areas. I think at minimum should be fairly fit, it could be risky to get stuck in back country. Be smart! Have fun!

(原文) Of all the easy hikes of arches, Zion, valley of fire this one was the most fun to do. 95% is bare rock with excellent grip with the right shoes. The fun part is that there is no visible path, just follows the rock piles. With adds to the experience of walking out in the wild. The sights along the way where worth the drive and hike. And there are hardly any other visitors on the hike so the whole hike no encounters with other hikers. Started at 11 am.

(原文) We didn't have a ton of time so we picked this short and easy trail. It was a very hot day and water was definitely needed as there is no shade. Keep your eyes up to follow the rock stacks and you'll enjoy four beautiful view points on this fairly easy hike.

(原文) Perfect trail at the end of the road. Just the right length, nothing hard. Amazing views. Doesn't get you closer to the "needles" themselves, but you can see them in the distance. Hard to take in the stunning beauty. A few hours maximum to complete with a few stops for epic pictures along the way. This is for those non-hard-core hikers for sure, but still stunning. No way to really get lost on this trail though some parts are not marked perfectly. I hiked the lollipop loop counterclockwise (the recommended way) and suggest you do too.

(原文) Gorgeous views. Good trail, if it’s warm it’s warm on top. A little over an hour walk incl picture moments and few short drink stops.

Tilman G — Google review
(原文) I really enjoyed this hike. You can border the canyons and see the view from both sides. My only concern is that the 4th viewpoint is easy to miss and hard to go back on track, can get lost easily and not find the last part of the loop. Be aware of the stone piles that can be misleading.

(原文) This one is absolutely good. You can see a lot of butte here.

(原文) Surprisingly, it does look like a wooden shoe. Sometimes, you really have to stretch your imagination to see something, but this time, you don't. You can take the lower road from cave springs to get closer to the formation and a looking up view.
Adam C — Google review
尽管如此,周边地区的全景还是很美丽的,而且这个地方很容易到达,所以除非你时间非常紧迫,否则我建议你停下来停留一些 (原文) This viewpoint along the main road is worth stopping at for a few minutes. The wooden shoe rock feature is interesting, though compared to the many other rock formations in the Needles District and in Arches, not as impressive. Still, the panoramic views of the surrounding area are beautiful and this spot is easily accessible, so unless you are incredibly pressed for time, I'd recommend stopping for a few

(原文) We also stopped at the Wooden Shoe Overlook, which is the first viewpoint inside the Needles District of Canyonlands. It is very obvious from the viewing area and we recognized it before we realized what we were looking at. It is a distance from the viewing area, as were several other items of interest. Due to the unrelenting sun and heat, we decided to view much of the park from our car. Many of the trails are for experienced hikers with better abilities. The Wooden Shoe is huge and the arch is dwarfed. I would not want to meet the being that could wear this shoe!

Murphy Point Overlook offers a great hiking experience with a larger parking lot compared to other trailheads. The 2-hour hike starts off easy but becomes truly amazing towards the end, and it's less crowded than other trails. The sprawling views of Canyonlands are stunning, making the few-mile-long trail well worth it. It's recommended for backcountry camping near the overlook, providing isolated and underrated views of Canyonlands with excellent sunsets.
(原文) Permit obtained from ranger stationed for back country. Pretty easy hike as it was primarily flat for back country camping. Sunset and sunrise are gorgeous for this rim spot. Got there with a storm rolling in. I have never seen anything like that before, I assume I'm unlikely to again. It was a pink-purple lightning storm, very violent wind. Not much rain. Wind blew so hard it shifted my tent being held with rock anchors. Warning, it's high up. Lightning storm. I have a photo of my partner's hair standing straight up - i wont post for privacy reasons but be warned to get low in the event this should happen to you. Recommend to make sure to practice your rock anchoring/dog boning. No fires was allowed. Not really any trees, so bear vault went under some rocks. Reason being the desert critters, not so much bears - they can chew open food bags and get the goodies.

Accessible via a 3.5-mile roundtrip trail from White Rim Road or a shorter hike from the Green River, it offers a glimpse into the lives of the ancient inhabitants and stunning views of Stillwater Canyon. A free permit is required to visit, and while the road can be challenging, it adds to the adventure.
