There are countless areas where there’s no service, roads are dirt and are extremely narrow (but there are turnouts/shoulder areas where you can pass). BRING WATER AND SNACKS! It costs $8 per car if you park within fee areas. The parking lot by the Grove of Titans trailhead was free, and there’s a restroom there as well. Absolutely amazing. Even within five minutes of our hike, a deer walked across the pathway. Didn’t seem to mind humans. It’s worth a visit! The park is well kept and the hikes we did were well marked and very peaceful in the early morning. The trails and drive out did get much busier with people and cars as the morning wore on. I thought the additions of the metal platforms and bridges on some of the trails was useful and did not take away from the surrounding nature. If they help preserve the undergrowth, I'm all for them. All in all, a great park to see the redwoods which should be on everyone's list of things to do.

Crossing them requires some faith in math, science, and good workmanship. I was a little skeptical about spending money for a "Tree Park" when there are miles and miles of Redwood forest surrounding you in that area of the area/state/continent/world. There are amazing views of the tree tops the hillside, and the ocean - and a great perspective on just how super-tall these trees grow. Don't leave without going into the gift shop and checking out the Native American history/anthropology museum. It's an enormous collection. Many items that I've never seen before. Building tools, household items, clothing, hunting equipment...a great way to immerse yourself in what life might have been like for long ago inhabitants of the coastal forest area. I took waaasy too long picking out another ridiculous looking sticker from the gift shop but my campervan has a little sticker wall and it seemed like something I had to do. If you've got an hour or two, take the time to stop here!! I planned my road trip around it.... WHAT CAN I SAY? I'M A FAN!

There is the sky walk , interpretive trails, and the sky trail ride that takes you to the top of the mountain for a spectacular view of the area. The walk through the attraction is mostly uphill but offered seating areas to rest. If you are wheelchair-bound or have severe mobility issues I do not recommend the trail through, however they do have a shuttle that will take you to the sky Trail so you can still enjoy some of the attractions. It took us about an hour and a half to get through . It was really fun and we would go again.

The bathrooms are nice and showers were good. The sites are many and right next to each other. Don't let the thumbnail photos when you are booking fool you. Generally there is thin strip of ferns and bushes separating you from multiple other sites. We were at tent site 138 and judging by the thumb nail it looked secluded. We were surrounded by three sites. You will hear your neighbors if/when they aren't considerate. Everyone likes to stay up late and make plenty of noise when it is full. People making noise and talking loud until 3 AM on night. Same people yelling obscenities at their neighbors the next morning. Doubt the frail elderly camp host had much of an impact on that after it was brought to their attention. As well there is a loud tower signal tone that starts early in the AM. This was easily the most annoying experience during the whole trip.

Plenty of variation, you walk directly on the forest floor. There are some really cool redwood stumps with burned out centers that you can actually walk/climb into. We even found one 200ft+ living tree that had an entirely burned out center that you could walk into and see through the top. The falls are not very big, but the scenery around them is pretty cool. We didn't see any banana slugs at that time, but I'm sure if it had rained anytime recently, you'd find them by the falls. This is definitely a worthy stop, especially if you're going to continue out to Fern Canyon (which is an otherworldly, amazing experience too). I'll call this trail moderate only because it's not easy enough for me to call it easy. It's not difficult, though. I advise hiking boots with ankle support since you're walking on the forest floor and there's lots of roots to deal with. We took almost three hours to do it, but that's because we took a few hundred photos along the way.

I only give it 4 stars because we went to another trail at Jedediah State Park that was even more beautiful (crazy to think thats even possible). This hike was a bit more strenuous than we expected. The hike to the falls was fairly quick and easy. And insanely beautiful. Like being in a movie. Just unreal. The trail beyond the falls is also beautiful but expect switchbacks for a good long while. If you just want the falls, I recommend hiking to the falls and turning back. If you want a bigger workout, and longer hike, then do the loop. It is unique in that much of the park was never logged so these are very old trees. As a result, rings of redwoods, where second generation trees have grown around a parent tree, have grown together at the ground making a single giant tree where the trunk splits into the second generation trees higher up. I had never seen this before in other other Redwood forests. From the visitor center, take the Prairie Creek trail to the Big Tree Wayside and then the Cathedral Trees trail back to the visitor center for a 3 mile loop. The beauty of the forest is stunning. Signage at the "Big Tree" indicates that someone had a sense of humor! There are some nice tunnels where fallen trees have been cut to allow people to pass under them. Parking can be a bit dodgy at busy times. Highly recommend a few hours or even a longer stay here. Nice state park run visitor center, also. In the visitor center, check out the lifesized bull elk sculpture by Jennifer a’Midi which you can look up.

They were welcoming to my kids but as a parent I definitely wouldn't take super young kids again (2 years and under). The gave 'treasure' to my kids so the place is pro-kid, but there's also a lot of historical items in small rooms that are breakable, so having my young kids there made me nervous. Kids that can follow directions and can hold still for a bit would absolutely love this experience though! We got to go up into the lighthouse and see how everything worked which was really cool but my husband who is claustrophobic got overheated, so if you suffer from that you might want to skip that portion of the tour lol. Not wheelchair accessible unfortunately either but totally understandable as to why. Overall 11 out of 10 for the experience! Very enjoyable and educational! We try to visit here at least twice a year. Our doggies love the 2 mile boardwalk. There's a lot of spots to sniff around and squirrels to chase. There is parking along the park. The view is fantastic. The walk is refreshing, calming and peaceful. You can stroll or power walk whatever is your liking. I do several walks a day. It's wonderful. There are several lookouts along the way. Great place to take pictures and/or videos. Doggies are not allowed on the beach only on the boardwalk. Restrooms are available on the south end of the park. It is a great place for rockhounding! It is also great for photography. We take food and chairs and spend hours here. The hike can be treacherous if there were recent rains, it gets muddy and slick. And depending on you fitness level, the climb back up can be exhausting! We are older, fatter, and slower than most so it pushes us to the max.
