The pictures are from our visit last weekend and the weekend before. We've eaten at two of the restaurants, the first being The Hungry Hatch and the second being the Italian Deli. Both were very good! The fresh produce at the market is crazy fresh and crazy inexpensive. Don't forget to grab a bag or two of pork rinds from Norm's Gourmet Snacks. There are something like 20 or 25 different flavors and they are super fresh. Parking can be a little bit sketchy if you go at the busier times so we like to park at around 10th and Main and ride the street car in. It just adds a little adventure to our visits and it's much less stressful with the cramped streets and parking lots. I highly recommend that you check it out for its huge variety of products, produce, eateries and diverse people.

The market is not so big but you find most of it . I got some brown eggs and they were good . You even get good grounded powders like turmeric powder, paprika powder etc . There were many food trucks, I got coffee and cookies it was great for the price . There was honey vendor who sells honey sticks and my kid liked it. Fresh flowers around made the place look beautiful. One thing to watch is pick veggies yourself , the spring onions I got were hard and tasteless. Pets not allowed inside the market.

I’m a long time LS resident and my daughter and I both love farmer’s markets, but sadly it was very disappointing. We went the weekend of the big opening, so hopefully it will get better and they are just working out the kinks. The space is beautiful and you can tell much work and money was put into it. Little kids would enjoy the playground area. The inside resembles all of the new modern churches, and doesn’t really feel like a market, but is a nice building. The vendors are where it is really lacking as of right now. We are regulars at the KC River Market, and were hoping for a smaller version closer to home. Unfortunately you simply can’t compare the two. There is no diversity at the Green Street Market, which is typical for LS, but disappointing. The only places to eat were food trucks that I don’t believe will be there on a regular basis and there was a vast lack of farmer produce. The booths were mostly just people selling random products, insurance, whatever they wanted to get out there. It felt more like the booths at downtown LS days than a farmers market. Prices were considerably higher than the River Market and there was a strange mix of noise from the “street performers” all trying to play over each other. I love that our little city is growing and downtown LS has become fantastic, but this for us, was a miss. We left after a short while and went to the KC River Market to get the real experience. Hopefully with a little time it will get better.

I ended up spending way longer in there than I expected because every corner had something new to check out. It’s three floors of antiques, well, the top one is mostly vintage clothing, but there’s just so much cool stuff packed in that it honestly feels way bigger on the inside than it looks from the street. They’ve got everything from old furniture and vintage signs to jewelry, artwork, vintage toys and random one-of-a-kind things that just grab your attention. I even found this really neat old tobacco pipe that caught my eye, the kind of thing that makes you stop for a second and imagine the stories behind it. The staff was super friendly and down to earth, just easy to talk to. You can tell they really care about the place and enjoy being there. There are even a few little spots to sit and take a break between floors, which is nice because you’ll definitely be doing some walking. It’s in a great area too, right in the middle of the River Market, surrounded by awesome restaurants and spots to grab a drink. There’s actually a place right across the street where you can sit down and relax after exploring, which made it even better. What I loved most was how much variety there was. Whether you’re into vintage clothes, antique furniture, or unique jewelry, you’re bound to find something that sticks with you. The building itself has a cool old vibe that just fits perfectly with everything inside. Definitely one of those places worth taking your time in. Even if you’re not out to buy anything, it’s just a great spot to wander, chat, and soak in all the history sitting on those shelves. You can find pretty much any vintage item you could ever want on the three floors and basement. Good mix of new and existing vendors so there is a wide selection to choose from. You can tell these are all experienced antiques and vintage dealers. It seemed like prices were pretty high for vintage so don't come looking for for a bargain or thrift store prices. Over the years I've seen the antiques get fewer and more vintage items, less from early 19th & 20th century items and mostly on mid- century up to 80s -90s periods. So it's heavy on nostalgia for us Gen X'er which is fun to look at and stroll down memory lane. That's not typical what I'm looking for but the eclectic boho and pop culture shoppers will be delighted. Not much of an offering of bigger antique furniture these days but based on current location that makes sense, not a great place to unload and load. On my recent visit the floor and cash wrap staff were very friendly. Parking lot has been redone in the last 10 yrs but space is limited. On street parking isn't really a viable option especially on the weekends. It's in a fun area with lots to see in the City Market. You can reach it easily from the KC street car which is great for visitors from out of town. Overall, it's the one place I've consistently recommend to anyone who asks me where to go antique and vintage shopping. ❤️

I was NOT greeted very kindly from the very first few steps inside the door. I was asked to locker my purse because it was too large. I had a cross body purse that was in front of me. It was just slightly bigger than they allowed. I didn't want to leave it in the locker because it had a lot of money and my iPad inside. I was too far from our car to go back and leave it there. There is no signage on the door stating that you couldn't bring in a purse. The lady who cornered me, yes cornered me, was portraying fake kindness and I felt completely targeted and accused of being a thief. There was no compromise. She even told me I didn't have to shop with them. I stayed for a short while until I seen the baskets that you could have put multiple purses in that they offer for you to carry around to shop with. I asked someone why I could carry the large basket but not my small purse. I even mentioned that I felt they were accusing me of being a thief. He said he would take note of that. I looked at my husband and said I'm done. We left. I will not return. And those baskets are located right next to the locker where you have to leave your purse. I don't care who you are that screams that you don't trust your customers not to steal. I gladly opened my purse and showed her the contents. I would have gladly done so on the way out as well. But to boldly be confronted in such a nasty manner is not okay with me considering I didn't do anything wrong.

Bought a ton of corn last year that was awesome and was able to freeze enough to last us for the year. Went back this year and bought corn from an older guy out of the back of his truck and it was a little expensive so we only got a dozen. However when we got home and started taking it out of the bag my husband who grew up on a farm recognized some corn rust on the husks . This is a fungal disease for corn. The corn is severely dried out, and heavily dimpled. It is generally not recommended to eat corn that displays corn rust on the husks. My husband referred to this as cow corn We assumed the sellers would be monitored when they are selling food products and produce to Lenexa residents. If you bought corn from this one guy, caveat emptor. Those orangey spots and smears are corn rust. You can look it up. We hope everybody else had a better shopping experience and a higher quality of produce than what we got. If you buy corn, ask the guy to peel them for you before you buy them. Loved the exhibits of tools, clothing, and detailed goods needed for the 1850's. We loved the videos put together for the story of the adventurous dig, and the theater show put on for visitors. However one of the staff was a little off-putting near the end of our tour. We talked with two of them. We lacked knowledge on some of the subjects, and frankly even though they explained themselves, I believe they didn't express much in grace for our lack of knowledge. We told them thank you and left for the day. I am not certain that I would return, in spite of the lovely exhibits and intriguing storyline. I'm glad that the museum exists for the story though. Good to save another piece of history.

It is a very interesting place that is at the deepest lower levels of the building. There's a big wheel that was pretty cool and you could see it rotating in the water. The place is extremely dark for those with limited vision which hindered my ability to see a lot of the attractions. Electricity must be a factor in how they display things because it would be better fully lit to actually see a lot of it. Since it's a merchant ship most of the merchandise is what you would expect from a delivery vehicle or a massive container ship. The merchandise that was on said ship is quite interesting and I've had a number of those items over the years. I especially lock their lock collection. I lived in a farmhouse as a kid that had all those white ceramic locks and knobs. The fine China was really beautiful and you can find exact pieces online through eBay or other sources and the prices are pretty expensive. One basic white serving dish with lid was over $250. The price was about what you would expect from a place designed to bring in tourist and visitors. It's a bit more than other places at 16.50 per person.

The brisket wasnt cut too thin and was also cooked just perfectly. I see why they win awards! I loved the beans. Any beans served at a bbq joint needs to have meat in it, just my opinion. They didn't taste like their bbq sauce either. The beans definitely had their own kick. The potato salad wasnt much to write home about but was a nice cool crisp addition to the meat. The Mac and cheese was creamy and the noodles were done well. In all my visits to get bbq, I've had a few that had been swimming in bbq sauce. Not my favorite and I feel drowning it in sauce is trying to hide something in your meat. This wasn't that way and most KC bbq do very well to not drown the meat in sauce. I do give 4 stars as I wish there were a few more burnt ends on the plate. Everything had wonderful flavor. Everything was prepared well and wasn't cold but wasn't so hot we had to let it cool. Maybe a little more brisket on the Mac too. We would definitely come back, especially for the service and those burnt ends!

Overall the food was good and we would order from here again. The manicotti was very good and I enjoyed the red cream sauce but the overall dish amount was smaller than I would have liked. Atmosphere here is pretty Asian, long line, they seat parties based on what seating is available. Maybe one of the pros of being alone just for this instance I got seated right away! People are quick on their feet taking orders, moving chairs around. Smells good in here! There are TV monitors showing anime. Very unassuming bare walls with minimal decor. They’re letting the food speak for what they’re known for. Being 1/3 Vietnamese, of course I come to try KS BBQ which my boyfriend loves but I also crave Vietnamese food! I ordered Bun Bo Hue, they make it authentic here with pork blood. The broth was rich but was slightly on sweet side so I made it perfect by adding mam ruoc (shrimp paste). Everything expected was in the Bun bo hue like the cha lua (pork roll). One tiny thing I was looking for was the pig knuckle that normally comes with this dish. It was missing today :-( Still overall definitely 5 stars for food! I also ordered Banh Xeo to go for dinner!

Their Vegetarian sampler platter is huge and very filling with potato, lentil, and chickpea dishes, and you get to enjoy eating with your hands as you scoop up the various dishes with the injera (teff flatbread). The injera flatbread is soft, chewy, has many small bubbles, and is quite tart from the fermentation of the teff flour. They did seemed to be more sour and saltier than when I came a year or two ago. They also have a brown teff injera option for those who want it gluten free. Gomen, their collard green dish, and fosolia, their green bean dish, had some hard fibers from not preparing them properly, but overall it was an enjoyable experience. My favorite vegetarian dishes were Atikeltt (cabbage and potato), Shimbera watt (chickpeas and green peas), and Inguday watt (mushrooms and onions). None of the dishes stood out to me as being particularly strong in spices, so the flavors tended to blend from one dish to the next, especially when eaten with the sour and salty injera. Since this meal uses your hands to scoop up the dishes with the injera, and no wet towels are given to wipe off your hands prior to eating, I recommend using the restrooms in the center of the building to wash hands, heading left from the east door of the restaurant, and using the handicap push button to open the restroom door when coming out to avoid touching it directly. I grew up eating Ethiopian and was happy to discover this place upon moving to Kansas City a few years ago. A couple of highlights- they do have gluten free injera- which is nice. Traditionally injera IS gluten free, but some places add wheat flour to make the dough more workable. These guys can make it gluten free but there is a 7 dollar up-charge, which is honestly a little bonkers for the tiny serving you receive. The veggie platter is nice. Ethiopian seasoning is the best. These guys don’t always technically execute, tho.., Half the time the potatoes are undercooked/crunchy and today the lentils were undercooked and hard as well. Seasoning is always solid, however- Ethiopian food is amazing and not expensive or difficult to make. Blue Nile, however, is extremely expensive for what it is. I moved here from a coastal city with a very high cost of living and the Ethiopian food there is MUCH cheaper- literally about half the price, and also much, much better. Still, having options is nice in KC, where the food culture tends to be pretty homogenous. My real gripe is that they have recently dramatically downsized the portions. It used to be that a sampler platter was more than enough to fill two people up. Now, you only have about two bites of each of the sampler bites. At first I thought we had received a lunch portion but no. One veggie platter (no drinks) was 50 dollars and it was gone within about 5 min. This isn’t expensive food to make or give adequate portions of. They also charge you a percentage of your bill to pay with plastic. Comments on the atmosphere- the place is incredibly loud when busy from all the hard surfaces and lack of noise buffering panels. It smells like sewer pretty much year round, which isn’t super appealing and I’ve been approached by homeless people asking for money while dining inside the restaurant (which the host did nothing about). It’s nothing fancy. Just a perfectly fine lunch spot/hole in the wall- which I like just fine, when the food is good! The tiny portion today feels like a tipping point. I have 15 people coming in for the holiday and was planning to make a reservation while dining in today but decided against it when we saw the size of our platter. There was also a huge concert in town that we were lucky enough to see the night before. A few pink outfits were seen in the restaurant. So we talked with other Chappell Roan fans. It's a bit of a small plate experience. Our server told us that for four people we would likely need eight plates. We ended up ordering six to begin with and me and my friend Dave were still hungry, so we ordered a seventh plate containing steak tartare and it was the first time two of our companions had tried that dish and they liked it. I did too, and it was only the fourth time I've had it. Rather than deconstruct each of the dishes and prattle on for a giant review, I'll just say that I enjoyed every single thing we ordered. Everything was excellent! The service was spectacular and they made accommodations for one of our party of four who has a nut allergy. I will return to The Antler Room anytime my wife or friends wanna go. It's a top shelf, culinary experience in the vein of Novel or Room 39, where one of the owners got her start. The other owner, her husband, is a three-time James Beard nominee. So you can see why you need a reservation well in advance. This is a truly special gem in Kansas City. Every dish was seasoned beautifully and the execution was technically spot on, showing real skill in both preparation and presentation. It always feels better to support local rather than buy online & the icing on the cake was learning that Houndstooth is a 3rd generation family business. I loved the Houndstooth experience, the final product (as did everyone at our wedding!), & definitely plan to return for future menswear needs.
