One of the best meals I have eaten in a long, especially since moving to Milwaukee. I went on Sunday around noon and expected it to be packed like all the other places serving brunch but I was seated right away. Booked a pasta making and dinner event and it was fantastic. Chef Adam was excellent and his staff was friendly and took great care of our group. The food received rave reviews from everyone and the portions were more than enough to take home leftovers which will not last long. I had the caprese salad and basil pesto pasta. Even the bread with roasted garlic butter set the meal apart from others. Atmosphere was perfect for our casual event. I am glad to say that my pasta was cooked to perfection and tasted great. The meatball sandwich would be even better with a little more sauce (but i guess that is individual preference). The pizza was cooked in a stone fired oven and was cracker thin (my favorite crust).  The pizza was cut into rectangles and held all ingredients perfectly when picking up a slice. The wait staff was attentive bringing more soda when glasses were empty but they were not overbearing nor did they rush us out the door. This meal was wonderful perfect and I know I will return to Balistreri's again … real soon!!!

The food was excellent. We shared a Caesar Salad among the 3 of us. It was very crisp, favorable and one of the best we, all agreed, ever had. We had 3 different entrees; the risotto special of the day with crab, asparagus & more, the Pesto Linguini with shrimp (6 big shrimp) and the Fresh Basil Pesto Cream with chicken. All were excellent and the servings large so we all took home leftovers. Warm, flavored bread, we thought rosemary, and sundried tomato butter was served when we sat down. I've dined often in Mantova, Italy where their pride rests in pumpkin dishes. Yeah, this was outstanding. In fact, it may have been the best Italian pasta dish I've eaten in MKE. Bravi. My father wasn't as happy with his ribeye Bistecca di Manzo Fiorentina. He felt the cut was a little tough and therefore didn't finish it. This is a rare occurrence for him as he is a Missouri steak lover. But, all in all, I felt really good about Il Mito Trattoria and hope you give it a try yourselves. The food is outstanding. We ordered Bruschetta. I don't like tomatoes but I loved this dish. For dinner I had Scallopini with Spinach and Angel Hair pasta. The pizza crust was thicker than we like. And the ravioli pasta was very good, but the filling was more like a paste with small pieces of lobster. Definitely could have benefitted by having more lobster. The service was very good, up to the point that we got our meals. Because it was in the 90's we didn't get any of the fresh pasta, but we got some of the dried pasta from the shop. We made it today, along with marinara and meat sauce. The pasta was fabulous. It would be great with some olive oil and sliced grilled marinated chicken as the side dish. We will definitely be back to get some of their fresh pasta. Fabulous. Ten stars, if I could.
