It’s incredible) and was an absolute delight to spend time with. He was able to change the plan on the fly after an unexpected pink came through under the green and still gave me exactly what I wanted. I left with gorgeous and still SOFT hair. I’m so pleased! Everyone was extremely professional and sweet and the owner was very communicative over WhatsApp making sure everything went smoothly and following up the next day to make sure I was happy with the results. Called and booked a 50 minute deep tissue massage. Was greeted at the Spazul reception after checking in at the Playa del Carmen Hilton. Marco's led me through the spa and showed me the dry sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and cold plunge bath. Marco was very professional and informative. Female staff are all quite accommodating and polite. Male staff are VERY rude and short with clients. I had a facial that cost $119. She did not dim the lights and continued walking away from me to mix products for extended periods of time leaving me laying there. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Inti Beach restaurant. It was 7 PM local time and thankfully not very busy. Some of the tables are right on the beach, which I appreciate. Speaking of which I ordered the grilled chicken breast, and it was absolutely perfectly seasoned and nicely cooked. It is a flattened boneless chicken breast, so I was worried about it being dry and chewy, it was the complete opposite. Very tasty if a little on the salty side for my pallet. The only thing on the plate I did not like was the roasted green beans. They were chewy and in edible. There were only two of them and the rest of the veggies were perfectly roasted. I am here for another seven days so I will definitely revisit this restaurant and hope for the same experience. Highly recommended.

We are so happy we chose Mahekal as our hotel to our first trip to Mexico. Shout out to all the staff at Olas for breakfast, Fuego for lunch and dinner, our cleaner Mary for doing such a wonderful job everyday. 5th Avenue is right on the doorstep which adds a bonus, and means you aren’t stuck in the middle of nowhere like other resorts and you can explore the real Mexican streets and markets etc. we booked excursions through the hotel (swimming with whale sharks, turtles, tulum ruins, cenote, Xplor park, chicken itza) and the lady at the desk was super informative and helpful. The resort is like home for us and we will be returning very soon! Thanks to our Mahekal family for the best first holiday to Mexico!!!

When I went last week, it declined significantly. First, when I booked it prices went way up. But I was ok with it knowing it was a stellar resort. Buffet was fine but for dinner we were limited to 1 side, 1 entree, 1 app, 1 dessert. Half the menu at dinner on Friday night had additional charges on it if you wanted to order it. The beauty of the site was marred by the inability to get a good night's rest. This may have been a property next door, but it was disturbing, especially with my kids there. It took THREE DAYS to get an appointment with a hotel manager, who moved us to a different room. I lost my view and was placed close to the outdoor bar with all the noise. There were parties in the room next door. I could not wait to leave. We changed our return trip to spend 2 nights in Florida just to recover from this. Costco travel failed to provide any help, and Hyatt offered 25k points, which is nowhere near enough to compensate for the ruined vacation time and expenses. The spa did not respect boundaries and women from the staff walked into the men's changing room three times without even announcing. I felt extremely uncomfortable and upset. One good part of the property is the excellent kosher restaurant. They did give us a room for prayers but it was in a dank, mouldy basement with poor lighting and even a dead cockroach. People in the lobby and roof top were amazing. Concierge guidance was acceptable but the WhatsApp follow up is hectic, it's sending you message and calls you every day. However, our real complain were the service in the restaurantes. Despite food was good, the booking system (with papers and not within a computer) is a mess. Twice they loose our booking and he had to wait till the next slot available. Also, the service in the restaurants is really slow. Finally, the main restaurant is in the ground floor, so that from 7am till 11am you can listen all the noices in your room and you can't wake up late. Also, we paid for a private beach which included transport. The transport was late, the car was not comfortable and we had a long drive by waiting other people from other hotels. We had to turn back to the resort on our way to the beach because the transport was very bad organised. I hated my entire stay here. The staff are non chalant, and just don't care. They make their exclusive part so confusing that you don't know what's apart of the exclusive and what's not causing you to rack up charges. Nickle and dime over everything. Multiple times I've recieved cold food. For an example they have quesadillas made to order station and they don't even bother to melt the cheese. It's not appetizing to bite into a cold quesadilla which I have now done everyday. There is no noise control so it's constantly loud. The lobby is so heavily frangranced its off putting. And the wifi is absolutely useless. Don't advertising as a "play and work" environment if the wifi sucks. The toilet in my room has not been consistent in flushing this entire stay and the air conditioner sucks. Room constantly feels stuffy and hot. DO NOT STAY HERE ITS OVER PRICED FOR NO EXTRA VAULE. EDIT: The hospitallty manager consistently is giving us the run around on a refund. We decided to stay at another resort because of how absolutely terrible the service, and accomodations were here. So to have the audacity to post this fake response when we have went to see you about a refund several times just shows there is no stock in your words. Want to make it better? Give us a refund for the days we didn't stay there. Especially since you falsely advertise your accodations to be "all inclusive" and "work and play". I shouldn't be in a hotel stay 7 months pregnant having to fix my own toilet so it will flush!

The Beach/Seaweed Issue: Before booking, I specifically asked about the seaweed situation since we had stayed at Banyan Tree about five years prior and remembered it being an issue. I was assured that it was no longer a problem and that the water was crystal clear because they clear it out regularly. My husband and I agreed that this was the best vacation experiences we've had (and we've been fortunate to have many). We had been to Cancun but not to Playa del Carmen. We loved the Rosewood Kona (see my review), so someone suggested Rosewood Mayakoba. The drive from the Cancun airport to the hotel was 45 mins. Hotel car service excellent. Snacks, drinks, towels, friendly driver, all top-notch. The hotel property is stunning! Pictures cannot do it justice. A small boat takes you to your room! We stayed in a Wellness Suite and it was worth every penny/peso! I am confident any room/suite/villa would be amazing because the property is lush and gorgeous with privacy in mind. Every staff member is super friendly and attentive. They go out of their way to make sure you're happy. It's like nothing we've ever experienced before. We also had two amazing "butlers" who you can text with any questions or requests. Ours were Susana and Eduardo and they were terrific. They arranged little surprises too because we were celebrating. We stayed a week and never left the property but the hotel will happily book any excursion you'd like, and there are many to choose from. The spa is one of the best we've been at. Very large with every amenity, including a co-ed pool. Every restaurant we dined at was wonderful too. I'm not exaggerating! The Zapote bar was our favorite. We went multiple times. Live DJ and unique cocktails with a great menu for dinner or snacks. We loved the Iberian ham charcuterie. I could go on and on and on but if you're thinking of going to Cancun, I'd highly recommend this hotel. (Weather in October was nice with just one rainy day.)
