A gem! An old mansion with the ground floor turned into a French café. The baked goods are phenomenal. The character and beauty of the building and the grounds is also charming. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I can't say enough good. The "really good chocolate chip cookie" is very appropriately named. Family friendly (there's even a few swings built into the entry in the garden!) but would also be a perfect date spot or brunch with friends. Busy and just a small counter to order, but there is a ton of seating.

I like the new location even better than the previous one downtown. There is a lot more space to sit and enjoy your meal. The menu has something for everyone. I had the gobble-gobble (turkey sandwich on a pretzel bun) and my wife had Ken's club (turkey sandwich on multi grain bread). Both sandwiches were very good. My pretzel bun was nice and soft piled with turkey, bacon and their cranberry cream cheese (it was so good). We will certainly go back as the menu looks to have several other items I have got to try.

Today is my second visit and I just barely made the 10:30am breakfast cutoff. The owner or manager was kind enough to let me order breakfast. I got a made to order breakfast burrito with eggs and cheese. Was pleased to see it came with white flavorful cheese sauce mmmm. It had black beans and corn inside as well. A very generous and tasty portion. The nice touch was the side of fresh seasonal berries.
My first visit here I missed breakfast but I got the Heather Feather plant-based burger which is amazing. This is a clean, pleasant cafe with very friendly staff. A nice place for a quick bite and some good iced tea.

My boyfriend and I ordered breakfast to go. We were both disappointed with the food. I ordered my burrito without onions. When I bit into it, it did not have onions, or almost any of the other listed ingredients. Only had eggs and bacon with nothing else when it should have tomatoes, beans, corn, and peppers. The hash brown casserole that comes as a side was honestly gross. It looks and tastes like someone else ate it first and then spit it into the container. Bland and gloopy. I was excited to try the food again since the last time I had their stuff was at their downtown location. Not saying I won’t try other things to give them a second chance, but I will definitely be avoiding their breakfast.

Came here for the first time today for lunch w/ my partner. Even with the extremely busy lunch rush, all the staff were super polite and friendly, and the service was incredibly fast! Absolutely loved the decor and general vibes of the place too— a blend of modern coffee shop and old school sandwich shop that was so fun and inviting!
AND THE FOOD!
Got the Mac Attack, and the pork carnitas that came on the sandwich were literally perfect— reminded me of the pan fried pork my dad made on Sunday mornings as a kid. My partner's sandwich, the Meet Me at Moxo, was also literally amazing (he said it was the best roast beef he's ever had, ever!)
I'm so glad I got recommended this place and will be singing the praises of the servers, chef, and kitchen staff FOREVER!
Tldr; extremely nice and competent staff, great atmosphere, amazing food all around! Big recommend!

Went to Cafe Moxo’s new location and was pretty disappointed with the service. The person who took our order seemed annoyed with us… we then went to the register to pay. Greeted with no smile, no enthusiasm-nothing. Just paid. We went and sat down to a clean place to eat- nice vibes all around. Went to grab a coffee from the coffee bar and the barista seemed just as displeased to serve us. We also didn’t get the correct drink, but after the experience with the staff at that time, we weren’t going to complain.
Food was okay- we would love to come back and hopefully have better service. If not, then I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend.

I love coming here, the food is really good and the desserts are amazing! It's so cute and I love the atmosphere. You order at the counter and are given a buzzer thing so they don't exactly "serve you" but if you need anything the staff is always helpful. No method of separating food for allergies. I was told there could be pieces of egg or mayo in my food and there's just no way to avoid it, so I ordered a bagel. Another member of my grouo wanted to order the special posted on the sign at the entrance, and was told that wasn't even for today, although it said "today." The first item I tried to order was also not available today. It was an item available the other 6 days of the week. We also waited about 50 minutes before going up and asking if our order had been forgotten. 3 other groups arrived, ordered and had food before us. Some tables were being waited on like a sit down restaurant and their order taken at the table and food delivered to their table, and others were ordering at counter and given buzzers to go pickup their own food. The pickup area is also where you wait to get your drinks and people were reaching over plates of other diners' food to get their drinks. This was our first time eating there and it was all kind of odd and disappointing. I thought there would be a protocol in place for allergies in particular. The room is very pretty and my daughter's fruit was good. The cubed potatoes were good. Her grilled chicken was tough and dry, almost like precooked chicken breasts sliced and reheated. We are unlikely to go back. Perhaps you could review your policies when customers inform you of a food allergy, stage plates ready for pickup in an area where people aren't reaching over them for drinks, or just deliver everyone's plate to their table.

On a day when I had to drop my car off at the tire shop for new tires, Emily and I took that as an invitation to go out of town for an afternoon. We headed out to Springfield since neither of us had been down there for awhile. First stop was… Custom Cup Coffee to get us caffeinated for an afternoon of shenanigans.

I got my usual Americano and Emily got the Beekeeper. Along with my love of coffee, I do love stickers and grabbed a giant one for $4 and the barista hooked us up with some free little ones. Score! They do have a small food menu, too, if you come here and need something to compliment your caffeinated drink.
I usually look around and snap a few photos while waiting but I barely got turned around before my drink was being called out. That’s the fastest I’ve ever gotten an Americano. Emily’s drink was not far behind. Granted we had no one in front of us when we ordered, it was Jimmy Johns level of freaky fast. We were going to sit outside but they were putting up their outside furniture for some reason so we took a seat inside.
This Americano was spot-on for what I crave when I want one. Not only was it tasty but for being 20oz, it somehow lasted me until we walked over to Buzz Bomb Brewing Co. and I started drinking a beer. Emily was in love with her latte and let me have a little sip and wow… it was delicious. It was no surprise that she finished her drink in half the time it took me to finish mine.
All in all, Custom Cup Coffee had super friendly baristas, a quaint and cozy interior with a little bit of seating and super delicious coffee.

Custom Cup has been in business for 10 years. It sources the beans and roasts them on site. The staff reported they are roasting beans several days each week, ensuring the coffee is always fresh. Everything is ground on the spot from espresso to pour over to drip, including iced coffee drinks. I enjoyed a wonderful cortado made with Tanzanian beans, as I relaxed and took in the atmosphere. I took a drip for my ride home. It was sourced from Costa Rico and better than any drip coffee around.
Of the coffee shops I have visited in Springfield, Custom Cup is #1. If you love espresso based coffee or simply freshly roasted and ground coffee, Custom Cup Coffee should be your stop. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

We were visiting from out of town and it’s always a chore to find a place that roasts their own beans and knows how to brew and a pull a shot of expresso and these guys nailed it! Thought we would try a local coffee shop as we visited Springfield. While the service was nice, they had to re-ask our order a few minutes after placing it.... we only had 2 orders. Grab-a-Java is a small drive thru coffee shop. They also allow you to walk up and order as well, as that is what I did and several others did too. Ample parking behind the building if you want to park and enjoy your beverage on the tables they have. On a beautiful day, that is what I recommend doing.
My Iced Caramel Latte was pretty good, just wish the caramel flavoring was more in the drink and not drizzled on the whip cream, but man… that whip cream was amazing with it on there.

Yellow Bird Coffee House is a gem in Downtown Springfield! First and foremost, the coffee is top notch!!! Smooth, delicious and so many different options. The homemade cinnamon rolls are fresh, full of flavor and HUGE! But, they have so many good food options that you can't just try the rolls! I had the ham and cheese quiche and it was warm, fluffy and just as delicious as everything else I've had there.
Last, but certainly not least, the vibe of the coffee shop is everything! Vintage decor, chill music, and friendly staff make this a perfect place to hang out with friends or sit work for a bit.

We were in Springfield IL for a night on our Route 66 road trip. After some disastrous and really expensive coffee options in Chicago, Springfield and now on our way to St Louis we turned to Trip Advisor for help. And this little gem popped up.
The interior is eclectic, homely, quirky, CLEAN, and so very comfortable. The team that work there couldn't be more friendly and welcoming.
Let's cut to the chase - how was the coffee? OMG!!! That's all we have to say. We had a Latte and a Cappuccino to go as we were driving straight to St Louis and I wanted to turn around to just say thank you to them. The best coffee we have tasted outside of France, Italy or good coffee houses in the UK.
Prices are very very competitive and I would argue as far as value for money inexpensive for high quality.

July 26, 2024 - 4.7 🌟I discovered the Yellow Bird Coffee House hidden just north of Memorial/SIU Medical Complex. It was quite a find. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The service was superb and the coffee was very good. It was a pleasant experience.
I had a macchiato with an extra shot and a slice of bacon cheddar quiche. The macchiato was robust and full bodied. The quiche was flavorful and moist inside. The top was too dark and a little hard. I picked up an Americano for the road. It was good, but not the level of the macchiato. The Americano had a slight metallic taste.
I liked this place well enough to stop in my next visit to Springfield. It is the type of enterprise I like to patronize—local and unique.

This place is fantastic. The coffee is delicious. So delicious. A plain latte is all you need it's so good. Best coffee I've had outside of other countries (Costa Rica, Italy, etc.). The quiche is amazing too. I think it's a potato crust instead of a regular pie crust. Whenever I have the option and extra time in the AM to stop by, I do. I wish they're hours extended into the early afternoon for a tiny coffee "pick me up" but being a small business, they can of course do what makes sense and I'll still find a way to get to them in the mornings because it's THAT good.

We stopped in while waiting for our Dana-Thomas House tour and found a quiet gem tucked into Vinegar Hill Mall. I had the lemonade, which was tangy, refreshing, and surprisingly perfect—even for someone who usually prefers a classic lemon shake-up. August 9, 2024 - Today was my first visit to Wm. Van’s Cafe. I was disappointed. The service was a big letdown, as we had to wait for our food. It was prepared and sat for several minutes before we received it. Our drinks were delivered after we received the food.
However, the food was better than the service. The avocado toast and hot chocolate were delicious. The Red Eye Benny was flavorful, but lukewarm due to the delay in delivery. The cortado was decent, but too cool.

A chef salad does not come with meat, and they charge extra if you want it. That makes it a garden salad, not a chef salad. I’m town visiting family and we came here for breakfast on someone’s recommendation.
Good location, good parking, loved all The Beatles decor. When you walk in they direct you to seat yourself, we found a table that wasn’t that clean but sat 6. Took a while for someone to come greet us and bring us menus but when our waitress came to the table she was very friendly. I had the All American breakfast eggs were eggs, sausage was links and I was expecting patties, and the hash browns were so “crispy” there wasn’t any potato to eat. When she brought my MIL her plate there was a piece of receipt tape in her gravy. She apologized. When we asked for plastic silverware ( something our family does at every restaurant we visit) the waitress told “they were low” on plastic silverware so she brought us a large mug full of hot water and some extra napkins. She was doing the best she could with what she had, she was funny polite and apologetic.
Would not recommend, for 6 people to eat breakfast I could have spent my $100 somewhere else.
We paid a little over $80 and tipped $20 and that’s not enough to get some requested silverware to eat my food….and you’re not even out you’re just “low”? I’ll take my business elsewhere.

This is the second time this has happened. On my way to St Louis from Chicago to followup on police report from when our car was broken into. Stopped in Springfield, when we found this lovely family-friendly cafe with a welcoming atmosphere.
The cashier suggested the cinnamon roll. Upon it arriving to the table, to our surprise it was much bigger than expected. The taste was exquisite. Also got Sante Fe burritos (without chorizo of course, save the animals), which was delicious. As well as the avocado toast which was just alright.
Had a lovely conversation about the new wife swap episode while enjoying our food and coffee. Coffee was quite delicious. I would recommend the Cocomellow latte to anyone stopping by, hopefully under different circumstances than our own.
Unfortunately, we were unable to tip do to the sins committed against us in St Louis. but we definitely would have!

I absolutely love Three Twigs! I have been here many times over the past few years for the pastries, icecream, breakfast, and lunch. My favorite meal is the biscuits and gravy with tomato potatoes, along with loving their iced lattes. I also highly recommend their icecream and pastries. We ordered the breakfast shoes - one regular and one with fried chicken. They were good but the eggs on them were fried (we both ordered over easy). The potatoes were good (the tomato sauce had a little spicy kick to it). The gravy was good and the fried chicken was tender and delicious. It was good but not out of this world delicious. The servings were large. We would go back (but order the eggs specifically with runny yolks and not fried). All 4 of us ordered over easy and all 4 of us got fried eggs. The food is all made to order so expect to wait up to 30- 45 minutes after you order. This is not a fast food restaurant.

I’m visiting family for spring break all the way from Providence, Rhode Island and stopped here to get some breakfast only to be pleasantly surprised by what a great experience we had here. I got the Cinnamon Dulce Coffee and the That’s My Jam sandwich along with the Tomato Potatoes. Everything was delicious!! The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming to us. Purchased 2 pies (ube toffee and pumpkin caramel) for Thanksgiving from three twigs. Spent $40 per pie for half of the pie to only have filling on the bottom inch of the pie with it filled in with cool whip. So how would pumpkin filling melt if that's what you're trying to say even though the only time both pies were not refrigerated were 15 min to drive home. Also when customers post reviews bad or good, you're supposed to 1st off listen and ask questions and not get an attitude. Fix the issue and not call people liars. I guess the guy I spoke to previously was your husband. Just to add. We bought a monster pie to see which pie we liked. Completely different. Both slices were full to the top.

I decided to go inside to pick it up assuming it would be ready since I placed the order well over 30 minutes ago and I got only three items. I came across this place thru my bank advertisement for cash back. I reviewed the menu and was excited to find an establishment that promoted the tea & bakery/pastry concept. On my lunch break from work, I figured I would be in a “me moment.” I placed an online order because of possible time constraints and I didn’t want to sit alone in the restaurant to have this experience. The soup was hot & flavorful though no chunks of lobster it tasted as if it did. The sandwich was full and tasty, could only eat 1/2. Only recommendation is to inquire if the patron wants it warmed. The Tiramisu was one of the best I’ve had. The guests that were present sat in the restaurant were coupled or in groups of 3 or more. A must try with friends or family, such as a mother and daughter outing. I ate my dessert and was only able to take a picture of the empty container.

On March 18th, I came through the drive thru. Not only was the lady rude, but the drink I ordered (a caramel ribbon crunch) didn’t taste like it had any caramel. I came around again after mixing it and trying it again and it still tasted just like the coffee suryup. In the past, this WAS a good Krispy Kreme. But it has majorly went DownHill!!! Customer service is a joke, literally. The guy behind donut counter was very rude and put off by the fact that we came in to order. Not welcoming at all. Then the gal cashier was so clearly stoned and tried to overcharge us. When we pointed out the fact of the overcharging she became so rude and almost hostile during the transition that she aggressively ripped the receipt from register and threw it in our bag. Ridiculous! For the amount of money you pay for fried dough, Customer service should be a priority but unfortunately at Springfield location good Customer service is a thing of the past. Will really think hard about ever returning to this location.

This place was a little hard to find as it was located inside a building on the 4th floor. I had to navigate my way through to find it, but luckily the building’s staff were helpful and provided me instructions on how to get here.
Amazing atmosphere and very yummy coffee. The lady working there was so patient and kind, she had a very welcoming and warm aura and seemed so happy to serve every customer. It felt homey and relaxing to have come coffee and breakfast here. The sandwich was great! It didn’t taste oily or overly salty, it had a fresh and healthy taste.
